I am addicted to Judge Boyd’s cases. She is intelligent, fair and competent.
And compassionate.
Me too.
Real talk she’s better than Judge Judy. Judge Judy is a bit of a see you next Tuesday
@@jacobrheaume1 what does that mean
Are you kidding me? How is that fair? The state and the defense worked out a deal for 2 years. She tried to give him 10 years at first. Then realized she could only go up to 8 and gave him 8. The judge is a narcissist and she will be judged one day.
If I’m on probation I wouldn’t even go to the same grocery store as the victim.
Look at his lawyers face😂
I wouldn’t want to be in the same county!
@@CrystalDolison I know, it was freaking hilarious. I laughed out loud.
@@soupdragonukI had to rewind twice to see the reaction. They both thought just a little more community service, but thankfully the judge saw through the bs.
@@CrystalDolison "No your Honor it was two years!" 😲😳😱
"The agreement was two years..."
"Oh no, I know. I'm not following that agreement."
I watch Judge Boyd so much that I knew by the tone of her voice that she was going to go hard on him lol
Oh my god this might be the biggest diversion from plea I’ve heard
Weak prosecutors like this one why criminals keep breaking the law , they just keep giving deals to garbage criminals, thanks god for the judge
We don't have enough prisons to send everyone to jail or prison, they would be maxed in half a day
@@Mariem090 but this guy isn't just "every1".💁♀.multiple convictions of DV/Family violence, including #CHOKING. Please understand how up close, personal, and violent depriving another person of their ability to breathe and WATCHING them go into panicked respiratory failure is. Prisons maybe overcrowded, but there is no way you could be advocating for a light sentence for such a violent scumbag. Judge Boyd does NOT just throw every1 in prison, clearly even this guy got a chance to do right.
@@Mariem090 BUILD MORE!!!
Weak prosecutors are a problem in Republican and Democratic states.... You ban alcohol in some states but not guns... Do you realise how puritanical and ridiculous that sounds - especially to a European?
Wait he said he was on a SSI. a shame
Dog you’re 34. COVID is not why you didn’t finish high school
These criminals always come up with the same excuses
He did say he had an 18 year old child. So, at 16 it would look like school was in the way.
In his defense, covid kept him from getting his GED at 32 🤣🤣😂😂 But we all know the only reason he was going to "work on getting his GED" now is bc he was facing heavy time & wanted it to look good.
It cost money he said he came up short
😂😂😂😂
Ahhh! The old “I’m actually getting ready to go back to school”😂
age 35 is the PERFECT Time to get what most people have at age 18.....
and of course don't forget the job that is starting tomorrow.
Well he has lots of time to get his GED now lol
Aren’t they always 🤭
He’s going to find Jesus in jail too.
Wow, that was a surprise, and she did say ten years initially.
Yea it was just off by 2 years. He would never have known it.
Yep a lot of us agree on that the Court Reporter should have spoke up and said she was typing it she knew wot had been said
@@mandyduffin6200Not necessary, as she read out the maximum sentence of 8 years, then clarified it to be 8 years after it was questioned. That resolved the confusion, so no need for the court reporter to read anything at that point.
8 years when he expecting 2 years is a kick in the pants, but she had a reason.
Chocking someone is very serious and could have been charged as attempted murder especially that it was his second conviction.
Yes, but his probation was an 8 year suspended prison sentence.
This judge has no tolerance for partner/ family abuse

The look on their faces is magic, the attorney looked like a rabbit caught in headlights.
Schadenfreude, look up this word.
It's German.
Honestly, he was super lucky to get probation in the first place. She almost never gives any leniency for family violence. He must have caught her on a good day.
I know the saying as deer in headlights. But I live in Michigan.🙂
Yeah they forget that the Prosecutor agreeing to 1 thing doesn't mean the Judge will. And Boyd is unapologetically good at being fair until u show her u don't care about her probation rules.
That look was fantastic!
By now, no lawyer or defendant should be shocked if Judge Boyd doesn’t follow the ‘agreement’. Well done Judge.
I love when Judge Boyd says, "mmm hmmmm" like "whatever bye Felicia." People forget that she already gave these people a chance, sometimes people she wondered at the time if she SHOULD be giving them a chance. This guy strangled his girlfriend, and it was not the first time he physically abused a woman. Judge Boyd can't have "I didn't know she'd be at her mother's house" because A) it's probably a lie and B) could end up in a woman dead.
Miss Elizabeth, Facts, girl, facts!!!! 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻

If you are on probation, do what you are supposed to do!!!
Guess he didn't get an orchid. That lovely analogy goes over their heads every time.
I think he got an orchid and killed it
It's a stupid analogy because orchids are quite likely to just die on you even if you do everything right. A person has agency and a relationship is two-way. She might as well be telling them to get a Tamagotchi - then it sounds as stupid as it is.
What's the analogy I cant figure out what she trying to say
Judge Boyd is the reason I bought an orchid. 😂. I bought a marked down orchid for $2.00. It’s doing amazing.
I was not prepared for this comment. 😂😂😂😂😂😂. I guess he didn’t lol
She said 10 years at first, then 8 years. That way, the perp feels he is getting off easy. lol
No she made a mistake.
she makes that mistake a lot lOL
To be fair. She did say 10 years at first. She did correct it. But still loving her as a judge!!!
How many times has this sociopath beat women? He’s going to end up killing someone.
Dayum....8 yrs🤗should've been more, but his PD's face was priceless 😂😂
Love this judge! We need more judges like this!
The shock on the attorneys face and his was priceless 😂
Judge Boyd needs to be on The Supreme Court.
She has too many morals...
Oh god please no. She's vindictive and enamored with her own power.

He’s lost weight, like he’s been running and gunning. She totally saved that woman’s life by locking him up!
Excuses, excuses, excuses. I love how Judge Boyd handled that! It was obvious when he began talking it wasn't going to matter what he said. She was still sending him to prison. The attorney's face was priceless!
Dude is sick he deserves jailtime before he kill someone
So she had a little ‘brain fart’ & said 10.. Anyway, she recovered quickly.. No one’s perfect..
If only she had acknowledged it...
@@joeybagodonuts6683she doesn’t have to. She’s the judge.
She's done that at least once before I can recall where she said one thing, got quickly challenged on it, then said something else and restated that she said the second thing. I like her overall but I think she has a pride issue that may come back to bite the court (and her) in the future.
@@tbrown8721I recall her doing it on a pervious hearing also and she reacted the same way like she didn't say what everyone obviously heard. I enjoy watching her courtroom but when she come off like that it gives attitude.

It matters. She didn't and won't show to testify if she has a warrant! Duh!
@@roberta4989exactly - if the offence was really as horrific then she would appear for the sake of a DUI charge. If it’s her first DUI it will more than likely be dismissed, even 3rd or 4th people still only get probation. She could have easily said she drove drunk to get away! Another judge could have dropped the case altogether!
There was sufficient evidence.. and there was a prior conviction of family assault
Man! Did he face her twice?! What’s his problem?
I like this judge. She is fair and she doesn’t hesitate to send people to jail when they violate the condition to probation
Buddy, You don't mess with Judge Boyd when she sentences you. No contact means NO CONTACT. You laid hands on her. Period!
Nobody said he laid hands on her...

Well done judge on a good decision. I wish it could be consecutive
At first she said 10 years
Yes, she did say 10 years. I guess when his lawyer pointed out, she changed her mind. Be careful: his lawyer might be able to use that mistake when the court reporter reads back the record.
I know that's wot I just said i have even replayed it a couple of times to make sure his Lawyer should have asked for the Court Reporter to read it back to them I love Judge Boyd but this time she was wrong she did say it but then why didn't the Court Reporter say it cos she knew typing it wot was said I know it was a mistake but nope she def said it his Lawyer should have pushed it u could see him looking at States Attorney but don't think he cared since he got more than wot the State was asking for anyway
@@mandyduffin6200 wot?
She misspoke. She initially read that the maximum for each was 8 years, and that the sentences would run concurrently. She clarified it when he asked.
I was sure she said 10, so I replayed it…yes she did. But I do love this judge, she’s the best.
This is AWESOME!! The look on his face an when he looks at his laywer like "WTF JUST HAPPEN"
Judge Boyd said: “No”… I love it!!! ❤
She told him to get an orchid. He should have gotten the orchid.
She made a mistake when she said 10 years, but everyone’s reaction was epic lol
Damn, this Judge is tough and I love it!!!!!!!
Sometimes the cost of the crime isnt worth the crime.
It wasn’t even two weeks between him being sentenced to community probation and reoffending.

You can get your ID, SS card, wallet- contact those agencies. Heck, go to your probation officer and talk to them face to face. Call your attorney, have them contact the courts, DAs, The police and arrange one of those individuals to pick up your items. Or better yet- go back to court and talk to Judge Boyd..
Come on people- use your brains.

No orchid, no probation!
She didnt deny she said 10 years. After she got called on it, she said she had sentenced him to 8 years meaning her original sentencing from his last court appearance.
No, she claimed she had said 8 years when she hadn't. It was just a mistake. She probably didn't realise she had said 10.
@@thomasdalton1508 yeah, but when she said 8 years, she was talking about her original sentence the week begore, not 15 seconds earlier

AWW right, so here's the thing, I've internalized everything you've said....
she said 10
Judge is the hardest person on earth bravo.
Tough but fair she gave him a chance and he blew it.
She is NOT fair lmfao. She denied that she said 10 when everyone in the room heard her say it, and then didn’t even hear the defendant out.
Love this judge.
"Do, or do not. There is no "try". -- Yoda...
Possessive stalker types will use any excuse to get contact.
Judges parents must be very proud of her. I do and I am not even family
Ouch 😮
That defense attorney was smug until his boy got justice
Normally I love Judge Boyd, but I'm not a fan of this particular sentence. This guy definitely needs to be held accountable for what he did, but...
I agree, it feels like she misspoke and didn't want to own it.
He thought two warnings = 3 warnings
the judge did NOT want him around that 12yo girl
Judge Boyd is sharp, swift and has not 6th sense, it’s 8 or 9th sense.
In all fairness she did sentenced him to 10 years and then said 8. I think she should have added both.
He's 34 and he has an 18 year old child? Yikes! He might even be a grandfather already.
She did say 10 years-was hoping she added 2 to the second charge on top of the 8 years...the look on the defendant's and defense attorney's faces was priceless. But as far as they are concerned, even 8 years was a surprise, and not a good one.
true American Treasure Judge Boyd
" i didn't know she would be there" that's why most responsible people would call ahead of time before just showing up at someone's house.
He wasn't even supposed to call ahead to the mom, the motion included the victim's family. He should have talked to his p.o. I guess
He can't. No contact means NO contact. Not her, not her family (as if he didn't know she'd likely be there), not her boss, if she walks in to Walmart and he's there, he needs to drop his basket and walk out - NO contact. Period.
He can't phone the mother in law.
Somehow, he 'forgot' to tell his probation officer that he had no ID? After all this time in & out of jail and he's got no ID? Such a load of BS.
@@shaldana actually, it depends on the jurisdiction and what the court restraining order actually says. But I agree that talking to his PO would have been smart.
or just not go period.
@@shaldana The no contact was the he couldn
t contact her, NOT HER FAMILY. SHE INTENTIONALLY CAME THER WEHN SHE KNEW THAT HE WAS COMING TO GET HIS CHECK AND ALL OF HIS DOCUMENTATION SHOWING THAT HE WAS GETTING ssi
SSI? Really? Guy can beat up a woman but can't work. This is one example of why hard working people lose benefits...they have to divide up the fund to pay for this worthless POS to lay around and not work.
The judge is looking at the case in its entirety, and the previous offenses. She is reading ALL of the facts of the case, and noticing that this guy was not only abusing, but CHOKING the victim. She knows he is sick, and dangerous.
If he’s so sick and dangerous she shouldn’t have given him probation to begin with.
Dude got happy feet 😂. Judge Boyd is a great judge an did the right thing. Some folks don't understand law and the fact that the judge does NOT have to follow ANY deals made! Too many folks wanna break the law and not be held accountable or they hide brhind their children which makes me so angry when they do that.
Don't "f" around and you won't find out.
Damn ! She ain't playing.....
I disagree strongly with the judge on the last case where she sentenced him to ten years then changed it to eight. Like come on, at least listen to what he has to say after he explained himself -- the defendant never would have stated true if he would have known that he was going to get eight years. Like yes, he obviously has an extensive criminal history of violent crimes but you still have to be fair...
What is she talking about with the orchids? Mine bloom twice a year and I am single. She better stick to the legal world and give up her matchmaking and gardening aspirations. 😂
Maybe you already have the qualities she wants the defendant to learn. You don't say that you do family violence. Perhaps you're a nice person. Perhaps if someone marries you, you would treat them good. But she's dealing with someone who has a problem with that.
She knows she said 10 years at first now she's trying to change it trying to act like she didn't say that at first
When Boyd says no, she actually means OH HELL NO!
No means no 😳U DIG 🥺
Overly harsh. Sentence not warranted
He tried to choke someone. In past days that could have been death sentence. Should. count himself lucky.
Love Judge Boyd's compassion, desire to see the defendants change their lives as well as insuring that the victims get justice; HOWEVER IN THIS CASE I FEEL THAT SHE WAS WRONG. THey told him that he had to pay, and fulfill all of the requirements and he got his violation out of sheer desperation. He had to have the documents and the money to pay for the probation requirements and he did just as he was supposed to he left when the girl arrived., All of his pertinent documentation was at her mother's house and he didn't know that she would show up. IT is clearly evident that she came there intentionally around the time that she knew that he was there
You don’t know any of that to be true.
He was going to her mothers house. There's an excellent chance he would come across her unless he made specific arrangements to avoid her. Maybe he did, but he didn't say that. Should have arranged for someone else to collect the stuff.
I have no dog in this fight...or any other fight...but I really dislike this judge. I'm not against her decisions, I'm against her attitude. She adores the power she has.
The Judge simply skated thru all this, didn’t ask defendant how and why he’d made contact with his ex which would be her norm to ask, then messed up about her miss-sentencing of 10 years in prison for him, when the attorney advised her that the max was 8 years she denied given him 10 years very arrogantly. When the defendant got the chance to fully explain the circs re forbidden/unintentional contact , she simply shrugged her shoulders. Bad handling of the case, below required standard; she’s normally excellent so what went on with her ?? Disappointing and disturbing.
So stupid that he doesn’t realise what a good deal he had.
I love this dude's reaction: "Uh... ma'am... I know I keep breaking the law in a very serious way because I'm a moron, but why am I going to jail?"
Jim Carrey's line from Liar Liar: Stop breaking the law, asshole!
Don’t know if he intended to see that girl at all, but I don’t know why in the world he would go to her mother’s house. That’s just not a good decision.
MIKE DROP!!!
She actually DID say 10 years.
I don’t think she gave him time served, I might be wrong. This sentence must be a big relief to the family.
I tho9ught she gave him time served. In fact I think that's how she got it from 10 back to 8. But I might have misunderstood.
She literally said 10 years and then said she didn’t say that.
