My dad had one just like this, color and all,except his was a starchief. He out ran a 58 Impala tri power with it in 59. Oh, and his was a 4 barrel model.

One of my neighbor's son's had a '57 Bonneville convertible. After a couple of years he got a new '65 Bonneville convertible. I thought he was a really cool guy and then he became a god.

Thank you for sharing this car. Truly a piece of automotive history --- the grandaddy of all muscle cars to come! Most guys opted for the 3-deuces setup when wanting a real runner back then, but yeah, they would've loved to had fuel injection. Great video! Keep up the great work!
Hard to believe Pontiac is already gone over 10yrs. I’ve only ever known it as a sporty brand. Our 73 Grand Safari station wagon was a torque monster.

One of the many '57's that dazzled my twin brother and I when we arrived from England that year (we were 10). These beauties with all their chrome, size, power and charisma knocked our socks off and we immediately became car-crazies. Now decades later we've owned a myriad of cars but none more beloved and stunning as those in '50's and '60's. I don't think there were any that we couldn't identify in those days and were always hawking these rides. My nearest to this one was a '62 vert. Love your videos and knowledge of these cars Kevin and appreciate the Brothers sharing their seemingly endless collection.
Always really liked Pontiac's. Definitely my favorite GM division for sure. A 1962 421 Super Duty Catalina is probably my favorite Pontiac ever. Kind of a toss up between the SD Catalina, a 1969 400 Ram Air IV GTO(not a Judge, just a regular GTO) and a 1973 455 Super Duty Firebird Formula( or an SD Trans Am but preferably an SD455 Formula) The Royal Bobcat cars are awesome too. Particularly a 68-69 GTO Royal Bobcat powered by the 428ci/390hp engine that only came in full size Pontiac's from the factory but was a dealer installed option for around $650 I believe. Royal Pontiac would pull out the base 400ci/335hp engine and stuff in the 428ci/390hp engine and give it a much more aggressive tune. Pontiac was always the coolest GM division

I didn't read down through many of the comments so I'm not sure exactly what anyone else may have seen when they watched this video, but did anyone else notice that when this car took off and did the burn out it sounds pretty damn good???

Great video! One thing that would be really cool to include in these videos is the original MSRP of each car, including all of the options that were included on that particular car. Might take a bit of extra research, but it would be very informative. Keep up the good work!
Pontiac was some of the coolest cars GM ever made, if you haven't owned one, you just won't get it, Pontiacs in the 60's ruled the road.

I'm a Mopar guy but man oh man what a beauty this car is. Not to mention they were one of the fastest cars on the street in their day. The 57 Chevy seems to get all the attention for some reason but I'll take this car or a J2 Oldsmobile over a 57 Chevy any day. My grandfather bought a red and white 2 door Chieftain brand new in 57 but his had the 347 4 barrel. He wanted Tri Power but they didn't have any Tri Power Chieftain's on the lot and he didn't wanna order one and have to wait for it so he bought the 4 barrel version instead. He did eventually buy a Tri Power setup from the dealer and installed it himself. He said it was maybe the fastest car in town after that

Buick, Olds, and Cad all kept their Hydros; not sure about 54 Pontiacs. Butr it sure made it hard on the other makes that bought Hydros from GM... My 57 Olds was the 4 speed

57 Pontiacs had a 4-speed hydra matic transmission, not a 2-speed!

I'm a Mopar guy when it comes to muscle cars.....but Pontiac has always been my favorite muscle car manufacturer other than Dodge and Plymouth
Hydra-matics of this time frame were all four-speeds.
Yeah, can't believe he said 2 speeds at 04:28... maybe he was confusing it with Dual Range which meant 2 Drive positions... kind of hokey name for 4th and 3rd gears... Olds referred to 3rd as 'S' or Super Drive for passing other cars... and maybe he's not as knowledgeable as he tries to sound...

NOT a 2-speed auto trans. I owned a 57 Star chief; It had the standard GM Hydramatic - 4 speed I believe.
I think it was called 'Dual Range' Hydramatic as both 3rd and 4th gears were labeled "DRIVE" on the gear selector...
Most GM cars got 2 speed PowerGlides in 1954 as the Hydramatic factory had burned... Cadillacs prolly got any stockpiled Hydramatics...

Apparently GM told Chevy and Pontiac they couldn't go above 348" engines at the time... Olds said "Hold my Beer"...
Bunkie is who Pontiac needed in 2010 but instead they put a woman in charge and she released the Aztec and that sealed Pontiac's fate
The Aztec was originally going to be based on the s10 chassis but GM told the designer it would be built on a front wheel van chassis. So it went from being a totally cool off-road legit machine to a fugly box!
