Hip osteoarthritis is a common condition in which we see age related changes to the joint which affect hip range of motion and strength whilst potentially causing increased pain levels. There are many treatments for hip osteoarthritis however most don't have sufficient evidence to back them up. In this video, physiotherapists Ollie and Jack will take you through what hip osteoarthritis is, what treatments have good evidence and will also show you some exercises you can incorporate into your strength routine.
I love all the sessions thank you all so much
Our pleasure!
You two are so clear about the how to and why’s! So grateful for your help , clarity and motivation!

Sound is always great for me!
Good to hear Kerry!

Glad you like them!
Your exercises are wonderful! Thank you boys!
Our pleasure Kerry :)
Great video, guys, with lots of good information. No problem with the sound for me.
Good to hear!
Christina Chetwynd. I had no problems with the sound. it was loud and clear. I do not have OA of the hips, but all the exercises you showed are included in my daily routine anyway. Due to Spinal fusion from T9 to S3 I have limited movements and I can not lift my bottom off the floor high enough. So i do the modified version with my feet up on a Gym ball or a settee. I have a balance issue due to foot drop and numbness in my right foot, so I need to hold onto the chair in front of me to stand on one leg. Thank you for the video with good information.
Our pleasure!
Love your vids guys, very helpful 🤗
Thanks so much, glad you like them .
Good work guys, but the sound is full of echo :(
Thanks!
Fantastic video. I don't have any hip pain yet at 69 but would like to prevent it in the future. How many days a week is it best to do these exercises for prevention.
Thanks Sue! There's no reason to expect that you will develop hip pain in the future - ageing does not cause pain. However, including these exercises in a resistance training session 2-3 times per week will be beneficial for your health - which includes your hips!
Do you recommend kettlebell swings?
kettlebell swing is an excellent exercise involving large hip movement, so yes we do!
I am using tumeric and glucosamine i do find there is a difference for me anyway so shouldn’t be ruled out completely they have reduced the amount of pain killers I take during a 24 hour period. I am finding your exercises are extremely helpful too but I don’t have any steps is there anyway around this please.
Good to hear they work for you Toni. I agree - not to be ruled out completely but for now the scientific support for their use is lacking. It's going to be hard to work around not having a step in a safe way as most options are going to be unstable.
Do we need to do warm up before this exercises start?
a gentle warm up of movements, general activity of 5-10 minutes to increase body temperature is a great place to start. No need to be complicated, simple methods like walking, jogging on the spot, and stairs work well!
Acoustics are so poor it is very difficult to listen to and hear what you are saying. A shame as it's good information. Can you do your videos somewhere else.
Noted!
