I honestly don't know how anyone can complain about the wire wheel covers. I think they look great. Anthony, you have to stop referring to these as hubcaps. Hubcaps cover the center of the rim, whereas wheel covers cover the entire rim.

The Lincolns were a little more popular. Learned how to drive in a ‘84 Sig Series with a similar spec (Twilight blue, velour interior, but it had the wire wheels, moonroof, digital dash) and took a triple black leather interior ‘89 Sig Series to prom. You’re a little weird for liking the hubcaps like that lol. Both of my dad’s had the aluminum wire wheels and I took great care to polish every single spoke by hand once a year. Loved seeing those things sparkle in the sun when she got pulled out of the garage.

    • @melvinharris7859
      @melvinharris7859 Месяц назад +2

Well, they are reliable, but I certainly wouldn't say any 80s Town Car is anywhere close to being the "most reliable car ever built". The 302 is solid but the AOD is known to have failures past 100k miles and sometimes under that. They also aren't particularly well rust-proofed and the suspensions and steering tend to eat up wear items more than most cars.

They are quite reliable. These cars are known to be upwards of 300K miles. The Crown Victorias of course are the same. That’s why they were preferred for cabs and police cruisers. In the 1980’s Dearborn Michigans police force, the city where Ford World Headquarters was, had all Lincoln Town Cars for their police cruisers. It was a little strange seeing a Town Car decked out in police livery with blue and red lights on top cruising through Fairlane Mall.

I was in the limo business in the 80s and these town cars were the best. The only problems we had were rear axles going bad due to the added weight of more passengers. That 5.0 was a bit clunky but still much better than the Cadis of the day.

Hi Tony, Your feature car today is truly a sister car to my 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis LS 50th Anniversary Edition which is painted in the same Twilight Blue Metallic. Mine has the full cloth carriage ( Dark Blue ) roof with all exterior trim in Gold anodized including trunk lid mounted luggage rack. Your Lincoln is absolutely stunning and an incredible find. As an aside perhaps you are aware of a fellow RUclipsr Tony's Car Care whose parents were in a roll over accident yesterday in their 1989 Lincoln Town Car. Fortunately his parents were able to exit the vehicle on their own ( Mother 78, Father 80 Yrs. ) but the car is totaled. They were sideswiped by a small Mitsubishi at a high speed. Please reach out to them as they are looking for another 1989 Lincoln. Thanks Tony for another great video!

i want to use this video to vent a dellema i seem to be in about buying a car and i fear it will only get worse, currently i drive a 2016 honda civic , i bought it in 2021 as a solution to needing a way to drive 45 minutes each way to work, relax im a trucker so i only drove there once a week and home once a week, eventually i moved about half a mile from my truck, but my problem and i guess i solved it at least for now is i dont know what car i want to replace it with, everything that i like is 50k or more and the cheaper ones are almost like electric golf carts, so ive decided to drive this honda basicly until shit hits the fan, but i kinda got my eye out and specialty motor cars gets my juices flowin , these are the cars i really want

I had those Matchbox Town Cars as well, I think I had a white one and maroon one! My Mercury Sable wagon was one of my favorites too. I also had a larger limousine of this vintage, can’t remember the brand. My grandma that had the ‘89 Town Car got them for me for Christmas one year in the early 90’s.

Maybe this isn’t the place to admit this, but years ago I had a business attempting to sell office chairs built out of car seats. I found a car nearly identical to this in a pick-a-part in what seemed like drive in condition and decided I wanted to expand into sofas. I tore that poor car apart because of busted door locks, but pulled both front and rear seats: this was in 2010. Never built the sofas for my business (which died not long after- everyone thought they were cool but nobody wanted to pay for them). Yesterday, literally, I finally put the final touches on assembling the front pair into a sofa, a process that took about two years for reasons I won’t go into (it’s not actually difficult). The rear seat got damaged in storage, unfortunately.

A royal dark blue like this color is definitely a chart topping favor for me. What a beautifully preserved car. Definitely somebody had a lot of pride and ownership to keep a car that nice for so long.
One of my good friends has an 88 Town Car with that interior. I would almost argue. It’s a bit more quiet and a bit more comfortable than the leather interior.
Even at distance you can tell that this car is a Lincoln. No confusion with another brand.
The 88 and 89 town cars are some of the most robust reliable cars Lincoln ever made. Once they introduced multi fuel injection for 86 and subsequently putting in a double roller timing chain without nylon gears for 1988 those cars would easily do 300,000 or 400,000 miles without a worry.
The mileage on this car it’s like buying a one year old 89 Town Car certified preowned. What a deal for 16 995.
Right colors. Phenomenal condition. Nicely serviced. Turnkey ready to go.

I’m so jealous of whoever gets this car! 😫😫. I love cruising in these and looking down that massive hood. Love the sound of the turn signals too!

I was six years old in 1989 and my goodness I saw these everywhere and I always wanted my parents to buy one, but they just weren’t a fan of big cars cause they sucked up so much gas but I’m just waiting for my day to come to find one of these no matter how old it is And park on my driveway and use it as a collectors item. It’s just too beautiful and I wouldn’t wanna put stress on it. I’m currently 41 right now but man, where did the time go? This is a time, capsule sir

Anthony, also as you may already know this! Town Car was for may decades gangsters first choice vehicle!😂 Fun true fact! To find a 89 with 15k is unheard of, this is a museum piece! I remember when they first came out, and I tell you... this was really something!👍

She's stunning! I agree with you Anthony. I've always had a soft spot for these wire hubcaps on full sized FoMoCo full sized cars. Low-Riders discovered that the center caps on the aluminum wire wheels fit the center hub on Tru-Classic/Tru-Ray wheels perfectly. You'll see the center caps on a lot of low Mark V and VI lowriders.

Anthony, what a beauty! Except for plush interior (which I prefer to leather) this is a duplicate for my former 89 Signature Series. That bow on the glove box seems typical. My 89 gave me 24mpg highway. One of my all time favorites. Love my current 2OO7 Signature Limited, but this is a rare find. LINCOLN, what a Luxury car should be and once was! YOU are right about problematic sound system. Don't need a second car, BUT thinking 🤔

    Beautiful car.
I got married in 1988 and part of our honeymoon package was an ‘88 town car rental. I took so many pictures with that car cause I could never afford to buy one.

Great vehicle! Had two of them, you could turn the steering wheel with your pinky finger❤
Good ol' R12 freon, ICE cold🥶
What a luxury car should be! I miss that slogan
