- This is the Holder Motorsports '66 Chevy Nova that I painted back in the summer of 2021. They recently made some changes to the motor combination, so the front end had to be modified and therefore repainted. Lots of people wanted to know the color code, so here it is.
Sealer 3185 grey (SG05)
Basecoat Nexa Aquabase (makes 400ml) 3 coats minimum
8977 clean maroon 166.0p
8961 clean violet red 39.5p
HE04 gold flash 38.1p
8991 tone controller 9.3p
8907 red oxide 4.1p
8950 jet black 9.2p
XR12 radiant red 18.4p
8935 magenta 39.5p
PP10 medium pearl copper 41.2p
XR10 crystal silver 38.0p
8989 extra coarse aluminum 67.4p
Tinted Topcoat PPG Vibrance VC5700 clearcoat ( makes 400ml ) 3 coats
VC5700 Clearcoat 436.2p
VM4350 Vivid Ruby 1.4p
after mixing you will add hardner and reducer as if it were a normal clearcoat

My 2016 Ford Escape is Ruby Red Pearl Tricoat Color. I was wondering how they mixes the metallics in the clear. I love the Ruby Red on my Escape. I do need to get it cut and polished just to give it that pop. I may even get it ceramic coated when the paint correction is done.
I sure do like the 62-67 Novas. I'd be really interested in how the ventilation and non-contamination happens in a clear coat booth?
This is a semi down draft booth. Air comes in the top through filters at the door end of booth. Flows through booth and out through paint trap filters at the back bottom. Fan is set to move air about 80-100 feet a minute. Can still get junk in paint but it reduces it a lot and gets fumes out. Some booths have heaters for hot curing as well.

I was curious about you painting perpendicular on the front end? It obviously doesn't matter . It's just different than what you mostly see done from what I've watched on you tube. I've always wanted to learn this stuff but I'm just a couch painter on my phone.
