Tori no Uta, Last Regrets and Toki wo Kizamu Uta - all three songs combined in one single movement: The "Key anime piano medley."
My initial plan was to create the full version arrangements of "Tori no Uta", "Last Regrets" and "Toki wo Kizamu Uta", the opening songs from the Key Visual Arts anime series Air (TV), Kanon (2006) and Clannad After Story.
But arranging popular songs is a great challenge for me as well, because I have to fulfill the expectations of the listeners. How to describe it the best... Imagine you are a conductor. And one day, you have been asked to conduct Beethoven's 9th symphony. Just imagine the pressure. As an anime pianist, it was a great challenge to arrange these songs as accurate and emotionally powerful as possible.
I made good progress in the beginning and I quickly finished the draft for each of these three songs. However, after arranging the TV-size, I quickly ran out of ideas for the rest of the full song. I couldn't think of any good variations to make the arrangement more interesting and I started to copy paste many sections. My ideas just didn't worked out in the sheet and I was in a hopeless situation.
Finally, I dropped the three sheets and felt depressed for a whole month. I failed and I couldn't meet the expectations.
A month later, I was listening to my usual anime music playlist and I finally found a solution:
I just create a piano medley instead.
I immediately began to work on the medley sheet and repurposed the three abandoned TV-sized sheets. The TV size length has been extended a bit by reusing some motifs of the original song, and I created smooth transitions between each song for a better flow of music. The entire sheet underwent more than two hundred edits until every single note is polished.
I actually wanted to make piano arrangements for these three songs since the since the very beginning of my RUclips Channel, because I love the Key Anime series. Along with My Soul, Your Beats! (Angel Beats! OP) - these were the anime songs I've always put on my to-do-list. And now, the piano arrangement I was longing for has finally been created.
This Key anime piano medley was probably one of the greatest challenges I have ever faced so far as an anime pianist on RUclips. But with this weight lifted from my shoulders, I can finally move on again.

This time, I didn't record in the usual big room in the conservatory with the Steinway grand piano, but instead, I recorded in a smaller room with a fairly old, but very beautiful concert grand piano from a German piano brand called "Seiler". The grand piano has an exceptional "singing voice", perfectly suited for key songs.

When I was pregnant with my son I would listen to this in hopes he would enjoy it. Sadly I'm in the hospital without my son ( had a fetus demise). Even if it makes me sad it was our bonding moment. I'll treasure those few moments I had with him and one day listening to this won't make me break down.

Thank you for your well wishes everyone. I have a pleasant update. I ended up having a precious baby boy named Xander. He will be two in January and when we visit his older brother Dante’s grave I have played this song for him on multiple occasions. This will forever be our thing, till my last breath. I love my son who walks next to me, and I love my son who flys over us. And yes I am an anime Mom xD

I thought I had forgotten the feelings I had when I watched Clannad. When the opening started, the feels suddenly came back
I never realised Clannad was a starter/nostalgic anime to others too. As a kid I kept my love for anime quiet because no one else shared the interest. 17 years later and anime is everywhere. It’s amazing. I wish I could show my younger self.
To know that so many people loved and were watching Clannad at the same time I was erases the loneliness I felt back then. Anime is a great friend to so many of us. Thanks Animenz

Ahh.. Clannad After story is the ONLY anime that has made me genuinely cried. I've had watched many sad animes including Air and Kanon but when i watched Clannad it hit right in the Kokoro lol. I was depressed for like a 1-2months! but there were lessons learnt from that anime. I will never forget it.. Don't think any anime will ever make me sad as Clannad..

Clannad was the first anime series that i got into and after that was Clannad After Story. Both endings made me flood my bedroom in tears. Now, I practically live on anime so thank you, Clannad!!!

That is a bold statement. I do agree that for most people, watching kanon would be a better option, especially for those unfamiliar with anime or the genre; however, with Clannad Afterstory, Clannad has longevity over Kanon and when tragedy occurs it is more damaging.

One of the earliest earliest anime I had ever watched. Clannad was the second, followed by Kanon being the third.
Back then, I remembered these 2 anime(s) gave me a depression feel after finishing it. It wasn't a bad thing, more like a "So good that it still sticks to my heart" after watching it. Too bad my friends all say Clannad has crappy animation.. WHY!! ;_; It's masterpiece man :D

I completely understand what you mean by the depression feel. The anime just makes you so emotional and feely that it feels like you're trapped inside the anime's emotional journey and you just can't snap out of it ;-;

Kanon is so underrated in my opinion, one of my favorites. Clannad will always be my favorite, but Kanon is close

This is bringing back the feels from when I watched Clannad... Honestly the best anime ever imo.
Even the hardest moment in life might later be a sweet memory. Time moves on, waiting for no one. Hearing these melodies once again after so many years makes me feel old. Its just unfair how I am turning old but these songs still feel fresh.

Clannad, Air, and Kanon all hit close for me. When I was around 8-9, the Clannad scenes with Tomoya and his father especially made me cry. Those scenes were the ones that made me cry, because they reminded me of my father, and how I don't see him very often with him being in the military.
Clannad was really special to me, it helped me with a depression. RIP to the animators who died in that fire.

I love your arrangement of Tori no Uta so much… especially the beautiful change in dynamics from 2:18-the gentle, delicate melody of the left hand accompaniment is extraordinarily pleasing to the ears. I had to come back to this video ‘cause of nostalgia, and this is just making me very emotional.

My heart strings were pulled to and fro. This transcription truly brought out many strong and deep emotions. It encompasses all the things that we all hold dear to us, all the reasons why we want to share the beauty of anime with the world.

Listening to this really makes me reflect, I'm in highschool and during my childhood I only spoke to people during school barely, after school I would hide away in my room I did this up until 6th grade when a bully from 4th grade who lived a few doors down would walk past my house and occasionally hang out. I actually hung out with him everyday until he moved, but because of him I started to get out more and experience my childhood. These songs make me regret everything up until then. These anime and songs mean a lot to me.
Honestly I thought piano was gonna sound weird for anime theme songs, but this is sooo beautiful (god there is no emoji that can express my feels)

Wow. What a masterpiece. All the motifs are executed perfectly, and each melody seamlessly melds together with one another. Even though the melodies are simple on their own, each individual voice sings out to create even more layers. It must have been very anguishing to be stuck on the original version and not being able to find the inspiration to progress, but even in the darkest moments that we as composers and artists face, all it takes is one tiny light to spark new life and new ideas in a piece. Even if it's not what you initially envisioned, you can still be immensely proud of the end product. Congratulations on finishing this beautiful medley! It is truly a masterpiece.
