This anime is one of the greatest slice of life genre that I've seen. I've felt loneliness watching this because it really portray life. As you age, you tend to change, friendship turns into awkwardness and then later you've found yourself alone. At this point we blur the line of friendship to find that one true love who will stay with you forever. I guess, life operates that way. . Enjoy the stages of your life, while it last. . And also, with Animenz playing this making it more worthwhile reminiscing it.
Nagi no Asukara is one of the most beautiful anime series out there, hands down. Ebb and Flow (op 2) gave me insane goosebumps. My favourite anime opening of all time.
Jr Serna well I'm kind of a yuki kajiura fanboy so my opinion is a bit biased. :P personally though I would say .Hack//sign has some very powerful and moving sound tracks that depict a person that may be an outcast in society or just in general. Also, each song from .hack sign has a story behind it if you listen to the lyrics. Mind you I don't speak Japanese so I can't understand the lyrics of nagi no asukara just that it sounds beautiful.
I don't know if I'd call this my absolute favorite anime, the endless love triangles were somewhat unbelievable and annoying, among it's other flaws. But one thing's for DARN sure, it's easily the most visually stunning anime I've seen yet. The "fisherman's town" setting was beautiful, and the overall premise was unique and captivating. And it goes without saying that the soundtrack was fantastic. So for those reason's I'll always hold this show in a high regard, I highly recommend it.
I used to be really jealous of people who could play the piano like this. Now I'm just super happy that someone actually has this kind of talent, I know how much practice it takes and to be honest I don't have that much patience anyway. It's great that some people actually take the time and effort to make something so beautiful that the rest of us cry our hearts out. Hehe :P I'm not teary eyed or anything.... ;)
Why call it talent if you know the amount of practise it takes. Calling someone talented just takes away from the hard work they have put in something.
Why can't anyone erase my memory and give me the anime again so i can watch it without knowing what's going to happen...to have all these feelings once again :3
Nagi no Asukara, definitely one of the best things that has happened to me. I just recently finished watching it, still kinda bummed that Chisaki and Kaname didn't end up together (stupid Tsumugu...) but yeah. Art style is absolutely breath taking and soundtrack is beautiful. Also, unlike many romance animes I've watched, it has a story line and all the characters are so loveable, that's what I call a perfect anime.
I know I'm late af, but part of the reason I love it so much is because it is perhaps the only series I know where you can actually see a tangible progression in each of the characters as the story progresses, not to mention the fact that it skips 5 years, yet it doesn't leave you with no clues as to what happened meanwhile, since it doesn't need to. It's quite the masterpiece IMO, but I guess that's Mari Okada for you.
So here I was, just nonchalantly listening to and appreciating the true beauty of your performance. So then I figured it was about time I read your description (I read all of them btw, lol), and there along the bottom I saw three words I never would have ever expected... "Dedicated to BaddyDan89"... ;___; I am touched beyond words, simply tearing up as I write this comment. I definitely think you picked the right hall to record this medley in. Dat natural reverb is to DIE for, and just adds so much substance to this. It feels like I've grown a layer of ena, swimming around the ocean to see you playing this, also in the ocean... Your "ocean feel" idea was presented spectacularly. Thank you so much for the dedication. It means so much to have your support. I hope to find my inspiration again soon. But until then, know that I have your back, just like (as I've just learned) you have mine :) *brohugs*
You know it's extremely difficult to encounter top guys shielding the guys below. This community is really something. Animenz, not only by your playing but as an individual you have my utter respect. Baddy, you'll definitely regain that 'satisfaction' soon :)
Konasium Yeah, definitely although I only some anime pianist once but truely from the deepest part of my heart, I love this community! I wish it to grow and never stop! Anime + Piano have become a very important part of me!
AnimePianoAngel I really want to Join this community, I used to play a hell of a lot. then went through a lot of personal crap that made me drift away from playing for about 4-5 years. Might have to start again :)
I watched this anime 2 days ago.... I got hooked so bad that I watched all 26 episoes in one day.... and the OP 2 Ebb and flow brings tears to my eyes now.... especially this piano playing! It was such a great anime! I regret not watching it earlier!!!
The piano is just beautiful~! Thank you for playing it! Nagi no Asukara has always been my favorite anime. "Love is probably like the sea.. it's not just all fun and love. You also have to embrace the sadness, pain, and everything else. That's when new feelings are born." - Tsumugu
This is so awesome :D. That natural reverb gives a feeling that you're in the sea. Fits perfectly with the anime :D. I totally love 4:52 - 5:00. But woaw, these arpeggios, amazing! I love this anime a lot and also this performance c:
I can't believe it has been five years since then, I can still remember it like it was just yesterday Seriously, that anime is so gorgeous and still better than a lot of anime today in both quality of the story and the technical detail
This is actually my first anime that my friend gave me to watch. And nagi no asukara made me continued to watch anime till now ㅠㅠ It's been 7 years 🥺 I can't believe peoples haven't watched the anime
It's better to fall in love with someone and be hurt than never fall in love at all, because pain and loss is an inherent part of love. This is what Miuna felt when she became the sacrificial maiden for Sea god. Suppose Miuna is the Sea God, Hikari is the Ojoshi-Sama(sacrificial maiden), and Manaka is the man who Hikari loves. Sea God didn't want Ojoshi-Sama to bear with the despair of losing the men when she returns back on the surface, so he took away the Ojoshi's ability to love anyone. But Ojoshi didnt want to lose the children and the days with the Sea God too, and the Sea God didn't realize Ojoshi-sama's feelings were directed to him. So Ojoshi still likes the men, and we know that already (Hikari likes Manaka.), but she didnt want to lose her days with the Sea God too(Hikari doesnt want to lose Miuna) But the Ojoshi's feelings were directed to the Sea God (Once again, we know Hikari likes Manaka, but why didn't Hikari truly understand what Miuna had said in Ep.5? Which is "if i didnt love, I wouldn't be sad." Hikari should have understood it when he thought Manaka has a crush on Tsumugu.) I think the answer for the relationship between Hikari,Manaka, and Miuna is already given by Uroko-Sama. In the end, Miuna still loves hikari. "Even now, it will bring new life and new feelings" = Miuna relieves her depression (Why did sacred fire burned down the cemetery of Ojoshi-sama? Because Sea God finally knows that the Ojoshi-sama's feelings were directed to him, so the depression Sea God has been carrying finally relieved.) Hikari x Manaka and Hikari x Miuna endings are both possible because Hikari didn't give Miuna an answer after he knows Miuna has a crush on him. We can explain this as Hikari likes Manaka, but he likes Miuna too.
It's so... Perfect! So well harmonized, everything mixed so well that I think it will be my favorite music of all time. I already loved Nagi no Asukara soundtrack, but you made it so pretty to piano that... I can't... I'm crying ^^' Thank you, and congratulations!
Mann, this anime really hit the spot. I both love and hate what happened in this anime SPOILER ALLERT When Chisaki does not hibernate with her friends, she grows up and they don't. When hikari and the rest are all awake, they don't really become a group of friends again because of the distance that is now there. You can see that before the incident they were all close friends and five years later, Chisaki dosen't really re-establish their relationship which hurt the feels. thats what I both hate and love. The are style was amasing. the first 5 episodes were a bit slow abd it took my 3 sittings to watch the first 2 episodes. But because I know this anime had potential, and I loved the art style, I watched from episode 3 - 26 in 1 sitting and it was worth it.
Pieces like this makes us dive back underwater and breathe again. Even though some of us have already experienced the life of miuna and her friends, we still want to go back to those memories. This is what makes an amazing transcription. Great work.
Maxiumize goosebump i must say is how this whole arrangement make me feel, its emotional, techniqueful, chill, calm and of course i get goosebump pretty much every seconds and i gaze on the movement when its become techniqueful.
One of the first animes I watched at the end of 2019 now knowing what anime truly was and decided to watch an anime I am not familiar with and it was this. It was awesome. Thank you.
Those first few notes always give me goosebumps 🥶💙 It's like remembering something happy and sad memory at the same time. This is one of the animes that I cannot rewatch for some reason
The most underrated ‘slice of life anime’ the visuals and sounds, it’s mesmerising. Just beautiful, I wish I could watch it again, not knowing what would happen at the end. The feeling of re watching something you love so much, it surely isn’t the same as the first time though, that’s for sure.
Boy am I late to the party. I literally just started watching this show yesterday, and I was completely blown away by the story setup, imagery, and music. Came to RUclips to listen to the soundtrack, and I get ANOTHER surprise because Animenz already had a piano cover for this show! Animez never ceases to amaze me. Thanks for this beautiful arrangement!
+Kevin Wei Triangles? It's a fucking love web and it annoyed the living fuck out of me, because it didn't even feel like anyone got together, they just found out that one person has feeling for another person.
I hope P.A Works watched this and knew that nagi asu needed an ova or a special to see their relationship now. It has been 4-5 years since the anime was released but I still have some hope. sorry for the bad eng, im totally getting drowned by their visuals urhh i want more of them
Nagi no Asukara is one of my favorite animes. The characters and plot and animation and music hooked me immediately. I'm still not over it. Your cover is wonderful, thank you so much for uploading!
No one else here thought that when Shioshishio went to hibernate, they would wake up a couple of centuries later? No? Am I the only one who really wanted to see the worst case scenario? Ai'ght, cool, I'm just gonna go back to my corner, think on my head canon :(
Akua Hope I imagined they would wake up to a frozen and almost deserted earth, as humans evacuated so space...too much conjecture, I know. I just wanted to see spaceships n' shit, tbh
Thanks to this anime is that I got into watching more anime. I remember that my sister was the one that told me to watch it with her and so we did. I didn't regret it. The visuals, the emotions... Everything was so beautiful for an anime of 2013. This anime will be forever remembered in my heart. Highly recommended fam!
I love this. Definitely one of your best pieces (in my opinion), although, I might be saying that because I love the anime. Now, I gotta show Manaka this awesome music!!!
Great medley. As expected the songs from Nagi are perfect for the piano. The atmosphere and the emotions are properly expressed in this one. Love the crescendo for the final piece when it started. Powerful.
I don’t know how many times I used the repeat button then freaked out that an hour already passed. With how wonderfully detailed and emotional the music is, I end up listening for every note.
o; I put this on in the background while I was doing something else, and found myself very hard pressed not to start crying ^^; I was very moved, you transcribed these all so well!
Its 2018 and im still here listening to this masterpiece full of emotions, feelings, and beauty. Slowly regaining my Ena after listening to this again.
I'm listening to anime piano when I should be sleeping. I keep telling myself "Just one more, then I'll sleep. Ooh, Nagi no Asukara! I'll listen to that, then I'll sleep. Oh, I kinda want to listen to Hikaru Nara now." Mom: JUST GO TO SLEEP ALREADY, DAMNIT
Anyone else love how his piano is so clean it reflects his hands so you can see which keys he’s using? I keep staring at the reflection and not his actual hands
Thanks Animenz! I also miss this anime. NagiAsu was a quite good work. No violence, no battle, no guns, but just beautiful scenery and pure feelings. Very different from major works these days. Of course songs are amazing. I was waiting for it every week. I never forget NagiAsu,one of the best anime. なぎあす マジ よかったわ^o^ (NagiAsu maji yokattawaXD) (NagiAsu so coolXD)
I'm late on watching this anime but the only reason why I picked this up was because of your cover of the OP/ED. It's gentle and serene. It's the message you wanted to send to us anime watchers. Thanks.
The whole time I watched Nagi no Asukara, I had this mindset that it wasn't very popular, it's not exactly something you "hear of" from friends, or see randomly around at stores or in random threads. However seeing how fast it pops up when you type "Nagi" and all the comments on this video really make me happy, I can't explain it.
This anime is one of the greatest slice of life genre that I've seen. I've felt loneliness watching this because it really portray life. I love the way u said this
I didn't expect to be in tears in 2023 on a Friday night over this show. You worded this so perfectly.
I'm floating in an ocean of emotion... ;__;

Nagi had the best soundtrack in an anime I have ever watched.
I dunno about the best; however, it is certainly the most beautiful anime sound track I've ever heard.
True..
Viral Stigma Hmmmmm. I'm interested now. What's the best soundtrack you've heard from an anime?
Jr Serna

"I Don't want to believe it's hopeless or useless to love someone."

If you don't love anyone, you won't get hurt.
-Miuna(Nagi no asukara)

She says as she crushes on hikari
Years later I still come back to this❤
I come here once a year even after 10 years. Just a masterpiece.
Same, I tried to learn animenz rendition but no way in hell I could.
same once in a year to appreciate his hard work

This brings back sad memories of the anime, especially the friendzoning.
nagi no asukara is like friend zone central
Got friend zoned right before reading this :/ true story
Ethan Hoang
I feel ya bro *pats shoulder*
+Emi Jordan Everyone loves someone else who doesn't love them back. I cringed so much watching this.
Caffeine Jazz yeah, I feel you.
Hehe :P I'm not teary eyed or anything.... ;)
I'm still jealous nigga, but it's cool bcuz life's not fair anyway, they got started when they were little, I couldnt, so it's cool
Toffnm you'd be jealous of their talent, but once you learn how much you'd have to do just play the piano, you'd probably give up. 😪
Piano is actually really easy XD you can be self taught but mastering it is another story :')
Why call it talent if you know the amount of practise it takes. Calling someone talented just takes away from the hard work they have put in something.
@Vlad Xavier I practice 1 hour a day, and I'm close to being able to play no game no life
edit: well, I play 15 minutes of no game no life a day

We've all had that feeling.
Lol after that i watched it i have feeled it 4ever lol
Same feels with Eva
omg i know that feel
GenesisCore Agree
全ての曲に皆が見たキラキラした海の音が入ってるのが最高に好き
The "underwater" tone really comes through. This is a lovely medley ;_;
凪のあすからはサントラ、主題歌、作画、声優、話すべてが完璧なのがすごいと思う。背景とか街並みとかこの雰囲気にしましょうって言ってくれた方もすごい。
Amazing! Those fast runs! That reverb. Nagi no Asukara is probably the best anime of this season. :D
But until then, know that I have your back, just like (as I've just learned) you have mine :)
*brohugs*
The anime pianist community has your back BaddyDan!
It's time for you to rise like a phoenix! ^^

This reverb sound awesomely good on this cover , I feel like as if I was thrown in the sea !
So this is what feelings sound like
Exactly
Tamara Weinstein But the show showed us that the sound of feelings like a bunch of glass cracking.
I could honestly feel my heart breaking for Miuna in the end of the series...
But what about Kaname?
Nah, Kaname has Sayu....
This anime is one of those very hidden gems that only a special few can enjoy and I love Ebb and Flow OP 2
ebb and flow was so beautiful!
2期のopの始まりがめっちゃ好き
Nagi No Asukara is the most melancholic and beautiful anime out there and you sir managed to keep that beauty in one piano song, good job!
I miss this anime and its opening's theme
Carin-rin H
it was scheduled for 24 episodes though, would it be that much of a surprise? it's not like it stopped airing randomly.
I thought only me and a few others watched Nagi no Asukara... Guess there are others... A lot more others...
Me too thought the same XD
+Xixi Ng I watched the episodes at their release dates. :)
It's a beautiful anime, from the characters to the visuals, music, and story. But none of my friends are interested :(
yeah its a lot more popular than I thought it would be
Too bad, they don't get to see a very beautiful anime.
ah .... those arpeggios, scales. Beautiful performance
OMG too Epic
Amazing EgOistHiuMan Piano :)
Well if you play piano you have to know the scales and arpeggios forwards and backwards like it's the alphabet
This was three years ago, oh how time flies :')
Zacky The Pianist you come back here every once in a while too huh
This is so awesome :D. That natural reverb gives a feeling that you're in the sea. Fits perfectly with the anime :D. I totally love 4:52 - 5:00. But woaw, these arpeggios, amazing! I love this anime a lot and also this performance c:

Ture, the story and great artwork by paworks are better than most anime airing these days
You is right
This anime is godly that's all I can say
This is actually my first anime that my friend gave me to watch. And nagi no asukara made me continued to watch anime till now ㅠㅠ It's been 7 years 🥺 I can't believe peoples haven't watched the anime

I recently re watched this anime a full year after starting watching it when it was still ongoing, I missed it so much :3
7 years later and it's still my favourite medley I've ever heard
this anime is criminally underrated definitely one of my personal favorites

It's like remembering something happy and sad memory at the same time.
This is one of the animes that I cannot rewatch for some reason
The beginning of the music is honestly heavenly. How could it reflect the surface of water so well with just sound ?! I am astonished.
Listening to you play gives me the drive to spend more time practicing piano ! You are truly an inspiration
...is this what it feels like to have ena and swim around shioshishio? o///o
Nicely put.
OMG! You got me so hard with Aqua Terrarium!
I love that Ending!
Thanks for the Medley, Animenz!

Listening to this with rain in the background is pretty much perfection.
海にいるような、透明な音...
すごく綺麗だ。
キャラクターの想いが一つ一つ音色に刻まれているみたい。
Good things are never too late to be discovered :)
Aqua Terrarium makes my tears falling down at the moment I heard of it. So beautiful as the anime itself!! Amazing!!!
Nagi no asukara is litteraly one of my fav anime i need to watch it again
this guy is a genius.
+Lim Rui Bing Naw, just Asian ;)
my god the countless and unlimited love triangles are drowning me!!!
+Kevin Wei EXACTLY
+Kevin Wei Triangles? It's a fucking love web and it annoyed the living fuck out of me, because it didn't even feel like anyone got together, they just found out that one person has feeling for another person.
The Kxng Con ..that's true
It's a love dodecahedron, man.
I call it a love chain
This anime broke the boundaries of love complications I thought possible. I mean, it had a love SEPTAGON for crying out loud.
+Maddy Willette Nonagon if you count Akira and that one kid that liked Miuna
Man, I click on this video constantly just to hear the first few strokes. This was all so well done.
Love the reverb in the room. It fits in the 'aquatic' theme of music.
ebby and flow is just simply beautiful
I hope P.A Works watched this and knew that nagi asu needed an ova or a special to see their relationship now.
It has been 4-5 years since the anime was released but I still have some hope.
sorry for the bad eng, im totally getting drowned by their visuals urhh i want more of them
Guys i can confirm even after 7 years this plays still giving me massive goosebumps just like that time....
2020 anyone ?
8, 9 years after the publication I like soooo
2022 🙌🏻
2023🙋♂
Nagi no Asukara is one of my favorite animes. The characters and plot and animation and music hooked me immediately. I'm still not over it. Your cover is wonderful, thank you so much for uploading!
The upload from this period is still the ones with the best sound quality + ambience.
2021.
Remember how this anime touch me, is just heartwarming and so relived
You are the best piano player i've ever seen!
No one else here thought that when Shioshishio went to hibernate, they would wake up a couple of centuries later? No? Am I the only one who really wanted to see the worst case scenario?
Ai'ght, cool, I'm just gonna go back to my corner, think on my head canon :(
WHY WOULD YOU WANT SOMETHING LIKE THAT
Reefs Doodles I'm a sucker for tragic stories. Like, Shakespearean tragic.
+Daisuke Yoshioka I thought it would be decades....
Akua Hope I imagined they would wake up to a frozen and almost deserted earth, as humans evacuated so space...too much conjecture, I know.
I just wanted to see spaceships n' shit, tbh
Ah! That expands its arc.
Seriously though, words can't describe how beautiful you play....i can really feel the emotion behind it, it's scary
I just finished A Lull in the Sea yesterday and these themes are already feeling nostalgic...😢😭
I really appreciate all the effort and the emotion in this piece of art. Not just a song but part of my emotional support in my life. Thanks.
o;
I put this on in the background while I was doing something else, and found myself very hard pressed not to start crying ^^;
I was very moved, you transcribed these all so well!
Listening to this medley is like rewatching the anime in 9 minutes.
Its 2018 and im still here listening to this masterpiece full of emotions, feelings, and beauty. Slowly regaining my Ena after listening to this again.
Kami Yato Same my dude

can believe this was 7 years ago
this means i've been a fan since then ;=;
A message for my future self : Animenz is my favourite pianist *EVER*
I'm listening to anime piano when I should be sleeping. I keep telling myself "Just one more, then I'll sleep. Ooh, Nagi no Asukara! I'll listen to that, then I'll sleep. Oh, I kinda want to listen to Hikaru Nara now."
Mom: JUST GO TO SLEEP ALREADY, DAMNIT
Kitty Kat meeeee
Kitty Kat hahahah thats me rn
haha! same! XD
lol yup
omg at 4:42 ebb and flow my heart skipped a beat
Two months later and I'm still totally in love with this medley. :)
Anyone else love how his piano is so clean it reflects his hands so you can see which keys he’s using? I keep staring at the reflection and not his actual hands
Thank you for making my dream comes true:) un bonjour depuis la France je suis fan de vous continuer^-^
this is really good. oh my god
it's so calming yet beautiful.
