    Just watched this again, and it’s still impressive. I am a puzzler but 1000 is my size thoug I have a few 2000 and 1500 with two 3000(neither done. Thank you so much

      Thanks so much for watching again! 1000 is my most common size of puzzle to do as well, although it may not seem like it 😆
      If you have the space I think you’d enjoy a 1.5k or a 2k puzzle - they’re a really lovely size of puzzle to build! I haven’t actually done a 3k puzzle yet, but I bet that would be an enjoyable size too.
      Thank you again x

      Ha ha! Aaw, I’m glad I’m building up the suspense 😍. I honestly wish I could do them quicker, but I will definitely need to work on a few smaller ones first. What I might do is start the sorting on the next section now though, there’s nothing stopping me doing that while I work on other puzzles 😃. Thank you so much for watching x

      My DNA test showed up as Scottish instead of Irish which I've always been told. So that could explain why you're my fav puzzler.
      I'm also excited for the piatnik 6000 PC plating card one. That looks very challenging.

    It's amazing seeing this massive puzzle coming together, especially with how much work and dedication you've put into it. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest!
    And yes, take Edcua to task! They have such beautiful puzzles with stunning colours, but they would be even better if the pieces stuck together.

    • @Vickymakesandbuilds
      @Vickymakesandbuilds  2 года назад

      They only need to do a couple of things and they’d be almost perfect! Fix the loose fit and sort out the weird bag numbering! That last one seems like such a simple thing, it’s ridiculous that they don’t just put proper, clear labels on the bags! 💁🏻‍♀️

      @@Vickymakesandbuilds , I actually have a puzzle that has sorted out their pieces in a rather unique way, namely, that they had put little letters on the backs of their puzzles, so that they would form little sections, but some puzzle pieces also had two different letters on the backs of the puzzle pieces so that they would denote a border between two different sections of a puzzle. Granted, the puzzle that had that sort of thing on it was only a 500 piece puzzle, but the fact remains that it worked surprisingly well.

    As luck would have it, I came across the very same puzzle at my local puzzle shop and decided right then and there that it was a challenge I could not walk away from even though it would also serve as supporting evidence to anyone who ever doubted my sanity, 😉but I digress. Based on your experience however, I do expect a bout of green tinted fever dreams once I start putting it together later this fall.
    I am giving myself two years to complete it which amounts to about one section every two months. I want to interlace a few smaller and somewhat easier puzzles while I look for my lost marbles in between sections. ☺
    Since I don't know yet what I will do with it once complete, I want to keep my options open and neither glue nor tape the sections as they are being completed. If I can't find a suitable way to display this puzzling masterpiece then I will take it apart in its original sections and sell it.
    I am a little concerned about the possibility of fading and discoloration while the building process is on-going so I am considering using acid-free paper or other archival method to keep sections apart during that time. It may not be noticeable to most people but it would not sit well in my photographer's eye. Cheers.

      Hiya! Thank you - it does look lovely. Yes, Grace did jump up a couple of times at first, but actually he didn’t really do it much after that. I let him stay until he starts being naughty. Sometimes he is content just to lay down, other times he takes it into his head to start playing around with the pieces - then he gets removed from the situation! 😆 Thanks for your comment about the stop motion - I’m a bit of an amateur with that particular form of filming, but I do like the result - I just have to try and learn to make it more smooth now I think, but overall it came out well. That would be amazing to puzzle along together! 😍 Yes, definitely do check your bags - I’ve discovered in all this bag confusion that some older batches of the puzzle have it in reverse order. I watched quite an old RUclips video on this puzzle and noticed that theirs had slightly different graphics on their box image to mine. Their puzzle was in reverse number order consecutively. Mine, and others like mine have random numbering. I’m not sure which you have, but I’d say it’s definitely worth checking…unless you don’t mind doing it in a random order of course 😃. Whatever the order, you are right, it is a gorgeous puzzle! I can’t wait to start part 2! Happy puzzling to you as well, and thanks for watching as always 😍 x

The fact that it came in a wooden box was to much to pass up! Unfortunately I haven't been able to start it yet, because I have another puzzle (black and white, sheet-music) taking up all my space.
    I'm really looking forward to going on this journey, now with, but along side you!
    Best of luck with the next section!!

      Yay! It’s fun when I know people are working on the same puzzle as me, I love hearing about other people’s progress and sharing my own. I think I’ve seen that sheet music puzzle before - is it a Piatnik? I love that you are tired of the 1k puzzles so have decided on a 33k - go for it! The nice thing about this one is the sections are a manageable piece count - 3360 pieces isn’t such a huge amount 😃. Thanks for the luck - good luck to you when you start yours, and I hope you enjoy your sheet music puzzle! 😍

      3360 seems reasonable, save for the fact that I had to unhinge one of my closet doors and lay it flat to have a surface large enough to lay it... 🤭

    • @Vickymakesandbuilds
      @Vickymakesandbuilds  2 года назад

      Thanks! I just recently bought my first Piatnik - it’s the 6k Playing Cards puzzle. I’ve had my eye on that puzzle for ages, but I also really like their music sheet one, I just haven’t gotten around to getting one yet. How do you find the quality - is it decent?
      I can see why you’d want colour after doing a black and white one 😃 lol!

    • @expectopaturtle9137
      @expectopaturtle9137 2 года назад

      @@Vickymakesandbuilds Update time!
      The sheet music puzzle is finished and taped. I had no problem with the quality, very little dust and the pieces held together very nicely. The problem with it was that it was more or less unsortable save for different piles of musical notation. A box of rests, a pile of eith-notes and so on. Since it's all mostly parallel lines it was very easy to know the orientation of the pieces, but finding the right one was a challenge and a half. If I were to do it again I'd place a lined mat under it so it'd be easier to place down "floating pieces". I started with all the text, so stuff had to be shifted around as I went and more pieces were found.
      All in all it was a good time.
      I have a question for you regarding the educa puzzle. I found while sorting that the pices tend to stick together and when they're pulled apart, if you're not super careful the image peals from the cardboard. Have you had the same issue? I've had to glue 5 pieces already, and I just opened up the first bag today...

    • @Vickymakesandbuilds
      @Vickymakesandbuilds  2 года назад

      Brilliant! Thanks for that - I might give that puzzle a go one day 😍
      In answer to your question, yes, I did have that problem with the pieces sticking together. I forgot to mention it in this video, but I will in the next one!
      I actually opened another bag up first while I was checking to see which bag was which. In the course of going through those pieces I quickly discovered that problem. I damaged two of my pieces and have to glue them. It seems to be the pieces with more of a hook shaped prong that get caught in the gaps and it’s very frustrating. It’s hard to explain, but I sort of figured out a way to separate them without them ripping. Whenever I found ones like that in the bag from this video, I managed to separate them without damage. It sounds a bit counter intuitive, but I just hold one piece and tap the other against the table - that would put the pieces at an angle, then I’d flip them over and tap it the other way. Sometimes it took two, sometimes more taps, but eventually they usually budge without damage, or at least they did for me. You don’t have to bash them too hard, just a tap and it usually worked. Trying to wriggle them apart always just seemed to make mine rip so I stopped doing that after two of them ripped.
      I hope this helps you 😍

You could always blow the poster up I guess, but if it helps I’m happy to send some photos. When do you think you’ll make a start sorting? I’ll still be working on mine for a while yet, so you may well start it while I’m still puzzling away at it. I will definitely check the 9,10,7,8 numbering on my puzzle when I finish the first two sections which I already know follow the 9,10 numbering. Congratulations on completing the first section, I am still working on my first section, which is the one you will do next I think.

    • @Vickymakesandbuilds
      @Vickymakesandbuilds  2 года назад

      Thanks! I was hoping that would help. When I heard from the chap on FaceBook and his first two bags were the 9/10 combo, I thought, well, that’s a bit odd that there should be two like that, then I realised that mine was the same and so I figured my bag ordering would be the same as his - I looked at the bags and was able to determine from the pieces which bag was which section and lo and behold, it was the exact same ordering as his. I figured that yours might be as well - how bizarre is that though? Anyway, i’m just glad to have figured that out at this point! Thanks for watching - yes, I will work on the next one along now - I actually have already opened the second bag (in an attempt to establish whether it was section 1 or 2!!) and sorted the edges, so technically I’ve already started it! 😆 Good luck with yours!

      Just finished section 2 and the final image is fantastic. I think the final image will be even better than Life as I love animals and this is not so wierdly abstract. I do agree with the difficulty level I.e harder than Life's 6000 piece sections as much of the image is in slightly soft focus (smudgy I called it) and of course, the wide range of greens and blues. At the moment I preferred doing Life but I prefer the final result of Wildlife and I don't think I will be mixing bags, it was hard enough doing one section at a time. If you do, I can't wait to watch the video. You could also mention the edges of sections can almost be sorted out based on their tiny prongs or holes compared to the rest of the pieces although there is the odd concave or convex piece on the edge to throw things.

    A a few months ago, I completed a 2000 piece Educa puzzle of a jungle scene. Everything you said here was true of my experience as well. Pieces fitting loosely and some frustration with pieces that sat next to each other without interlocking. I also was slowed down with a mountain of green and also gray pieces (tree trunks). One other complaint that I had was there was no poster included and there was quite a bit of printing on the box that hid some of the image. The final image was really beautiful and I did enjoy it. When I saw that you were going to tackle a 33,000 piece version of a similar image I knew that you were going to be in for a true challenge!

    • @Vickymakesandbuilds
      @Vickymakesandbuilds  2 года назад

      Oh yes, it certainly was challenging! It seems to be a universal truth about the loose fit of Educa pieces 😆. The bumpy, non-interlocking ones just seem a bit unnecessary to me, but there we are. I can’t complain too much, the lovely image far outweighs the issues I think - I really can’t fault Educa on image quality 😍. I agree about posters. My 6k Educa didn’t have one either and it really would have been useful - the logo and the number 6000, also obscured the box image on that one as well. Thank you so much for watching!

    for temp preserving a completed puzzle do you think washi tape would be strong enough to hold it together but also not damage the cardboard for removal???? the adheshive on washi tape doesnt seem as strong as standard tape

    • @Vickymakesandbuilds
      @Vickymakesandbuilds  Год назад

      Honestly, I don’t know how strong washi tape is, as i’ve never used it. I like a strong tape as I know I will keep it taped and I feel secure that the sections won’t crumble. If I ever decided to remove the tape, it wouldn’t be to re-do the puzzle, but possibly to glue or to mount. the blue tape does take a little card off the back, but not so much that it irreparably damages the pieces, so i’m happy with that. It’s possible a weaker tape would work temporarily and not damage as badly, but you’d just have to be really careful how you handle the sections so no pieces get lost. Doubling up the layers could help too I suppose.

    Just curious how you were able to tell your bags weren't in order and how you determined the correct order. Were you able to recognize the section from the pieces you could see in the bag?
    I hope you were able to figure it out before you started sorting or puzzling.

    • @Vickymakesandbuilds
      @Vickymakesandbuilds  2 года назад

      Ah, so basically I got a RUclips comment from one person and a FaceBook message from another saying that their bag ordering seemed random. They had watched my unboxing video and noticed a discrepancy between what I thought was the order and what their situation was with their puzzles. This prompted me to double check mine, because prior to this, I had simply assumed mine were ordered consecutively from high to low, going from left to right. I am so grateful they both messaged me because I was completely wrong. First, I figured out which were the first two sections, simply by opening the bags. I knew which bag was the far end as I’d seen corner pieces. The others I just checked the pieces through the bags and was able to ascertain what the order was from that. It just so happens that my order, also corresponded with the chap on FaceBook’s puzzle - I can only assume the RUclips commenter’s will be the same. It took a while to figure it all out, but I wanted to make sure because I want to try and do them in the right order for the videos 😃

      Oh my goodness, the green!!! The green was difficult, purely because there was soooo much of it. After i’d sorted according to different leaf textures and shades of green, it really was just a case of sorting by shape, which seemed to take forever!! I expect the opposite end of the puzzle will be the same, but all the central sections are much more varied and super enjoyable! I really hope you get through it unscathed - I was seeing green everywhere for days after!! 😆

    • @Vickymakesandbuilds

      Hi, of course - the size of one section is 157cm high x 57cm wide. The whole puzzle is 570cm wide by 157cm high - it’s divided into 10 equal sections. The sections are a bit different as they are tall and narrow, but I actually built mine in two halves beside each other so that I could film it in landscape 😍. That’s great you can connect it all together in your home - I don’t have a room big enough for that so I’ll have to take mine to a hall to take pictures 😃. I hope you get it - it’s a great puzzle!

      Hiya! Glad you found me 😃, welcome to the channel!
      It is impossible not to be inspired by Karen’s channel - she is so professional and her videos are spot on! I have been inspired by her, but funnily enough, my channel didn’t actually start out as a puzzle channel - it was a general making and building stuff type of channel (hence the name) - I did Legos, Labo, Hama beads etc. I just found that the puzzles were the most popular thing and so I transitioned over to doing just those. I found Karen’s channel whilst doing some research into what people liked in a puzzle channel. I think Karen and I have different tastes in puzzles, which is great - it’d be boring if we puzzle RUclipsrs all liked the same ones, but I do love the way she films her builds so that inspired me a lot.
      Now I am simply learning as I go, I’ve bought and set things up in a way that suits me and my space, I like to try different filming styles - a lot of the inspiration for those come from other puzzlers on Instagram and Facebook. 😊
