It’s time for the GR Yaris to go home! And that means putting our plucky black car on an actual real rally stage in Wales during a recent Targa Club event.
How will the GR Yaris perform on rough gravel? Will it survive? Will it get damaged? Will we fly off the stage and into a tree? All these questions will be answered in this week’s episode.

When your normal stuff is quarter million cars you can afford doing this. I would baby one cosmetically and drive it properly...but only on tarmac
I can recommend getting a set of winter tyres and driving in the snow with the GR Yaris... you'll love that too!

The quality of these videos just keep improving. Very enjoyable, this one. Cool intro with the drone shots. Nice choice of music. Even many of the larger channels use standard royalty free tunes that I've often heard repeated. I can see this becoming a million plus sub channel for sure.

Tyres not really adapted for gravel though. Absence of mud flaps up front... no stone chips on the rear wings ? (unless it's PPF'd ?). Did you get any stone chips on the rear wheels by the way ? Mine's suffered just from loose small stones on freshly "repaired" tarmac B-road, rear wheels suffer stone chip damage. Fortunately not the original BBS wheels, just cheaper aftermarket ones.
Great fun though, yeah, guess you're gonna have to keep it... like most of us are ! Who would want to sell there GR Yaris anyway ?
Fair play, I would not have the balls to take a car with a road suspension set up on a non tarmac rally stage

How did the 18’s and low profile tyres hold up?
I put 17’s on mine with chunky tyres.
They held up fine, but not suitable for prolonged use

Decision made. I have to get a days Rallying. That looks the business and a fun day out.
Do it. I’ve been fortunate to compete in rallying for 27 years as a codriver and nothing gives you a greater thrill. Where are you based as I can give you a couple of recommendations. This video was filmed at Walters Arena but not sure a rally school is based there.

I make this comment before I have watched the video I have just watched the intro footage and the presenter talk.
But where is this filmed? looks like possibly could be what was called the Phil price rally school.
It had a small practice track close the the site facilities where we rotated between mk2 and 3 rwd .
And a pretty good stage 2 mile or so, also got to drive a Saphire Cosworth 300hp rwd round it and Phil took you out in his crazy mk3 at race pace (the man was a lunatic but could seriously drive that stage lol)

The car may be made for it, but the 18 inch alloys and low profile street tyres are not.
Could also be wise to mount proper mud flaps if you intend to do this stuff and not scratch it up and in the end have it all rusty.

I don't think Jake installed the thicker Xpel on your car. Perhaps ask him to get the thicker installed on the side skirts and rear hunches. 👍

@@TheCarGuysTV let's hope you are joking. 😉 All modes are 4wd with a bias between 60/40, 50/50 and 30/70.
@@JonathanFeast Ah, yes I believe it’s called semantics. You are correct, but whilst driving a car on a rally stage unscripted, it’s sometimes not always obvious to say rwd bias rather than rwd.
