Honestly, it's insane how much progress you're making. It's always extremely intimidating to start developing games, especially with long videos, confusing game engines, and programming languages, and the fact you're able to surmount that is already a lot. And more so than that, the rapidity of it all is really admirable. Also, being able to make actually interesting games design-wise is a huge asset.

Yeah, lots of coders complain about not having art skills, and I struggle to write a basic FPS controller with a functioning weapon. C# on its own is fun an easy to use, but designing complex gameplay mechanics makes my head explode.

Also, kudos for having the courage to add that little note at the end there. We wish you all the best, breakups are always hard, and I’m sure we’ll be no less excited for whenever you’re ready to upload again. Take your time, make it a banger ❤

I relate SO hard to this! I'm also making my first 3D game (my first game in general) and have been working with Blender. It has been a long process and I've already put about 140 hours into Blender. In all this time, I've really only got the basics down. Blender is complicated and it has been a long yet rewarding process. It has been fun following you on your journey as I am also experiencing a lot of the same things at the same time you are. I look forward to seeing what you do next. Keep up the good work and take that much needed break.

Just wanna say this is legitimately the ONLY video out there that actually describes the whole pipeline of making characters/assets for games. Most just say "bought it", "modeled it", "just got it from a friend". Most 3d modeling channels don't talk about UV maps & retopology as much as you do because they're not game focused it's actually nuts how long it's taken for a video to go over the whole process from start to finish so people who want to make a 3d game now understand what they'll go through.

Of all of the RUclipsrs that I really admire and enjoy watching, you have to be one of my favorites. Watching your content just always feels so genuine, not like I’m watching a video made by a company manufactured for my enjoyment like a lot of other channels. You really appeal to me as someone who is down to earth and inspires me to create. It is because of your journey of following your passions to become a full time RUclipsr and documenting the whole thing that inspired me to make my own videos for my own channel which I’m doing now. I hope you take a much needed break Jack and know that your true fans will always support you (I myself am from the rdr2 video days lol). Keep your chin up and keep just being you and I guarantee you will continue to be successful.

You've bitten off more than you can chew and you're afraid you won't be able to swallow it all (lol). I feel like you don't give yourself enough credit. You have brought yourself to this level of RUclips and experience in game design. You've gained the 325k subscribers and started a development "company" of sorts. You've sought out other creators and collaborated to widen the scope of your abilities - why should that trend not continue with the rest of it? I think it's very normal to take stock of things and only then realize how much you have going on and how you may not be able to deal with it all. Except, more often than not, you find a way to work to your strengths and ultimately ARE able to deal with everything, and come out smarter because of it. You'll be alright, man. Hope you feel better soon.
The ambition you've showed up to this point is the rule, not the exception. I fully believe you're only going to grow from here!

Having experimented (while crashing and burning) with so many of the same things you cover in this video I found it incredibly engaging to see your take on discovering and understanding these processes. All of this stuff is hell and the world of 3D art and game design has so many layers to it that it is best example of "you don't know what you don't know" that I have ever come across.

Earlier this summer I was torn between two projects I wanted to work on; something in game-dev, or a film made in unreal engine. I was juggling back and forth constantly until you started your own game-dev journey. So basically- I saw you doing your thing, took none of your advice and make a film instead- But! It did very much jump start that project!
I'm 6 months into animating penguins and still loving it. As I'm also working in the game industry by filming trailers, I too find it hard sometimes to be inspired to do your own creative work when a lot of creative energy is taken up by a job. But, I think it also proves to me just how important it is to take time for yourself, and keep a nugget for your own JUICE and make it a priority to have something just because you love it.
Anyways, just wanted to say thanks and random people do watch and very much appreciate what you do.

Hey Jack, It is really inspiring to see your progress, I know we don't see the behind the scenes but it looks like you are giving huge steps. You are making me considering start a similar project like you are, btw, I have been using blender for over 10 years and still haven't used a lot of tools included in blender. Just remember that sometimes taking a day off is the most productive thing you can do, I am struggling with that too.
    Thanks for the inspiration!

As a newbie-wannabe-3D-artist it's insane how relatable some situations are when we are starting in this awesome artistic world, even the same tuts lol
Excited for the content on Playable Workshop!
Have a good rest friend, take your time, after all it's the best healer.

Dude I’m gonna be so eagerly awaiting the Ocarina of Time style tutorials! The game I just started developing in Godot is primarily inspired by OOT so I can’t wait to get some extra guidance from you guys!

I loved that video. It reminded me of the time when I tried to learn modeling on blender 2.3 20 years ago. I was shit but every progress was worth it. Keep up the good work and take the time you need to get back. Best wish from France

Bro take your time. Take as much time as you need. I'd rather see a video/game late and well polished than to see it now in an unfinished state. +1 to the algorithm. Much love from Cali

Great work! It is really inspiring, some stuff I noticed that could help when texturing is to use generators on black/white masks in Substance Painter where you can explore a lot for example, you can bake in lighting if you want certain details and usually use them as a base for hand-painted textures. Love your work and gets me pumped to work on my own stuff.

Great vid, Jack! I've been on a similar journey. I'm a full-stack web developer who decided to make a game. Been working on it for years. Most of that time has been spent drawing because I was NOT an artist. One thing's for sure: Making a game is easily one of the most tediously satisfying things a person can do
