- One F1 driver forced a rule change cuz he had an unfair advantage. Another driver forced it as his victory celebration became too extreme!
But we have to start with Max Verstappen, cuz what he did to Hamilton forced a rule change.

I do agree. Its a team sport so i would say team effort right? Its not like they change something to make the car fasrer illegally
just like they can't tell them live when a car is to their right/left like Nascar
It's absolutely ridiculous that they can't do donuts or burnouts, so many other sports do it, it just comes across as snobbish, I remember that hamilton schumacher battle at monza, hamiltion was behind for ages and when button caught up to hailton they swap around positions and button got passed schumacher almost instantly.

It’s hilarious how they made NEW rules to stop Verstappen and they still couldn’t. Yet Lewis consistently talks about how everything is stacked against him.
The rules were invented because Max drove overly aggressively, like moving under braking, or pulling up alongside for restarts. These moves were dangerous or unfair
It's not to stop Verstappen. At the time he drove very erratically. So much so that they had to clarify driving standards.
Some of these safety changes were warranted. Others are mystifying and just appear to be cultish bulldozing. Also a lot of these rule changes appear to have been made specifically so races and championships could be fixed beforehand.

It is amazing that almost every rule change covered here involves Hamilton. Does F1 revolve around Hamilton ? Last I looked there were 19 other drivers and 9 other teams. It was so encouraging to see him get a penalty for driving into Perez. At last F1 realize the F1 universe does not revolve around him.
As many involved Verstappen.

i wonder if hamilton/mercedes fans that watch this payed close attention to the amount of rulechanges in favor of mercedes or AGAINST mercedes rivals.
And this doesnt even include party-mode and the DAS system..... which gave mercedes an edge, but were tolerated by FIA for 1-2 seasons because technically it wasnt against regulations.
So even when FIA makes a rulechange AGAINST mercedes, they dont enforce it untill the next season.
DAS was deemed legal simply because the description in the rules of such a mechanic was limited, and mercedes designed it to circumvent the description in the rulebooks.
But after more than a season of use, it was still banned because in spirit, it has always been illegal, mercedes simply circumvented the rule by designing the mechanic AROUND its exact definition.
Party mode was legal, but even after FIA expressed that it would be banned, they allowed mercedes to finish the season with it.
We aren't as good as Max so let's penalize him. rrrrrright. How about just letting them all drive the same car instead lol.
01:00. ok so i think you missed a whole bunch out here. a few races earlier at baku, hamilton had a problem with HIS car and the pit wall werent allowed to give HIM any help, despite it was an easy fix and would have taken them 5 seconds to let him know. so if you are going to point out rosberg being given help 2 races later, damn right he should have been penalised! the no pit wall help was still in effect so what is good for one driver should be good for another!

Mercedes turned up in 2022 with the worst car they've ever produced and could not figure it out. Getting the rules changed under the guise of safety was all a big con by Mercedes. Lewis needing assistance was just a show.

Cut the first corner gaining 2sec advantage and dont give it back (dont even ask to give it back your be sacked)
Refuse to pit for tyres and expect to be handed trophy at end.
Throw toys out of pram when your not just handed the trophy for driving round the circuit.

Max wouldn’t be saying that about regulations if it was his back 💀. At the end of the day it’s a mixed bag because it’s a shame to punish cars that don’t have that issue but also you have to force ‘certain’ teams to make those changes otherwise you could see genuinely harmful injuries. I don’t really know what the rules of f1 are, like is there no way to go to one team and say ‘change this’? Cause that would solve the problem and make everyone happy but also that’s picking on one team and they wouldn’t be happy about it. Anyway, it’s not the first time regulations change. I mean what about the change in engine modes or whatever that was made to slow Mercedes down. Again, it’s one of those things in f1 where those at a disadvantage will complain and those who aren’t would not. If the roles were reversed we’d see less complaining for verstappen… so maybe we shouldn’t be so quick to judge and make accusations especially when the drivers health is at stake.
Just raise the ride height and the problem disappears. But Mercedes didn't want to do that, due to it making their cars a little slower.
The best (and fairest) new rule, would have been to adapt a rule forbidding damaging driver health with easily corrected car setup. "A cars setup may not intentionally damage driver health"

Hamilton's Baku rule change was 100% warranted. If the porpoising continued drivers would be in wheelchairs by the time they were 40. I can't imagine the amount of stress went into their backs down the long straights.
Maybe they should have fixed the problem like other teams did instead of crying?

no... if porpoising continued, other teams would be forced to increase ride-height or lessen downforce on the straights until they can correctly balance their car with good designing.
Ferrari had almost the same amount of porpoising as mercedes... but they were AGAINST a rulechange because they were on the verge of tackling the problem.
it was 0% waranted because the car was only porpoising because cars needed the performance gain from the floor being low..... and only 3 out of 10 teams had difficulty with it.
and it was made very clear by multiple drivers and teambosses in interviews that there is a simple fix against porpoising for those teams INCREASE RIDE HEIGHT.
but they didnt want that, because you would lose 1 full second in laptime on circuits with highspeed corners.
