This walk starts in the third district of Vienna, Landstrasse. I'm walking to the Museum of Military History Vienna (German: Heeresgeschichtliches Museum - Militärhistorisches Institut) , which is housed in an imposing building. It documents the history of the Austrian military from the 16th century to the present, in particular using military technology such as weapons, vehicles and military equipment, but also in photographs, paintings and documents. Part of the museum is also dedicated to the history of the Austrian Navy. During my walk, the museum was closed due to Covid.

Then I walk to a district in Vienna that is being massively expanded. It is located in the 10th district, Favoriten. Many new offices and apartments are being built around the Hauptbahnhof in Vienna, which is located on the Gürtel. Hauptbahnhof is a train station located in Vienna's district near Südtiroler Platz, which connects the South, East and Laaer Ostbahn on the area of the former Südbahnhof. I took the walk in the evening so that I could catch the sunset a bit. I hope you enjoy the video!

Thank you for your videos. This one evoked a mixed response in me. I visited that museum 40 years ago. "Zutritt nur mit Mundschutz.' Well, no thank you. Not because it isn't worth a visit. Because I refuse to wear a face nappy. Then you continued past what seemed like an endless sea of ugly concrete, steel and glass things. Not the Vienna I remember. Nothing said 'Vienna' to me. It could have been London, Bangkok, Singapore...Then you passed the Belvedere and came to an area of 19th-century buildings. That I can relate to. But the shops depressed me. The same brand names, over and over again. That you see everywhere in the world. Only chain stores. I guess the EU regulated all the 'small' privately-owned businesses into bankruptcy. I don't like what the world has become. No country for old men. But thank you, I really appreciate your videos. I have deep nostalgia for Vienna.
thank you so much for your feedback! i would think that the rent is simply too high for small retailers. that's why we almost only see chains. they can afford the rent. there are smaller retailers, but they are mostly not to be seen on the main streets.
