It's a nice cooldown, watching this @ 35°C :-) great video man, love the Belvedere park, the atmosphere you captured at the time when it's so empty is perfect!
What never ceases 2 amaze me how many people don't seem 2 own an umbrella ☔or raincoat or poncho! They walk along in the 🌧 rain in a hoodie sweatshirt or windbreaker getting SOAKED! I love the RAIN 🌧, but not getting WET. 😬
Anbax, your videos are bringing back so many memories. I always mention that I was a music student for a full year in Vienna in 1971-72. Playing the French Horn and becoming involved in avant-garde music composition for the first time. Your video highlight the Belvedere. In 2010, before attending my stepson’s wedding in Ukraine, I spent a full week in Vienna. My first time since my student year. I felt like I was 22 years old again. By coincidence, I stayed at a business hotel, I believe the Austria Trend Savoyen hotel which was right off the Belvedere. The “executive” rooms had balconies with views of Upper Belvedere. My understanding is that the Austria Trend Savoyen hotel was the former “mint” of Austria where all the money was printed. (Let me know if I am wrong.) The artworks of Klimt displayed in the Upper Belvedere were beautiful. If you had taken a right turn on exiting the Lower Belvedere, you were a short distance away from the Savoyen hotel. Later, I walked down a connected street (to the Rennweg) and was at the Hochschule fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst. Your walk showed that Belvedere is not a long walk (or short Tram ride) from the Ringstrasse. While watching the video, Karlskirche - and then the Musikverein where I saw so many concerts. I better stop now - I may just jump on a plane and move to Vienna forever. Thank you, anbax. :-)
Hello John, thanks for your nice comments. You have become one of the regular viewers, I'm very happy! You're right, the Hotel Savoyen (adress: Rennweg 16, 1030 Wien) building was originally an Austrian State Printing House. Kind regards, Andy
I wish to be there. Writing poems, drinking some hot drink inside one cozy warm and organized apartment.also looking by the window or walking with an umbrella under the rain..Thanks for this.
A second comment - don’t want to hog the entire discussion here. As you exited the Lower Belvedere, it looked like there was some renovation in progress. I have always wondered if the sandstone color “slabs” that you see everywhere in Vienna was a full piece of some stone or another. Not sure what the slab-style architecture is called. But in the Belvedere street view, you see traditional red bricks that make up the wall and the sandstone-color slabs look like they are placed in front of the bricks. If anyone knows more about how Vienna came to adopt this beautiful exterior style, please let us know.
