Talking to my son about you hitting metal when cutting up the trees. He does this as well and has a good metal detector he runs over the tree before cutting, (a guess it is like the ones that people use to look for treasure on the beaches). Saves a lot of blades. Plus he has a professional blade sharpener. Pays for itself.

It's been too long. Exposed aggregate is so beautiful. I can't wait to see it. I really love it, I do. You were luck w your phone. A while back, I arrived home just as the rain was begging. I hurriedly got my stuff together and rushed in. 15 minutes later I was sitting down to eat. My phone always knows when I'm about to eat because it's always going off. So I always set my phone on the table. My shorts that day had shallow pockets. Yep, it was not in my pocket. I ran outside. There it was, on the ground getting rained on!! That's my luck. Tom, again it was really nice watching the crew move in sync. Real professionals in motion. Chris looks like a good one for TSH. It won't be long till he's trained up and in sync!! Very nice video. I'm looking forward to seeing the exposed aggregate. Thanks.👍❤️🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸

Nice job Tom, which even before i watch the video i already know it's going to be a great job, even sometimes things can and will go south, the Master Craftsman KNOWS how to fix mistakes, and the finished product is beautiful. Your also blessed, not only with the knowledge of how to do a great job, you have, what i call a gift, of how to relay and teach that skill to others, many cannot do that. In all fields, mechanics, carpentry, welding, painting etc, lots of good tradesmen, but most cannot teach. Well done sir: :)

Happy Mothers Day to all moms watching?? Got to be a few somewhere 😊😊.
Your comment early on about NO topsoil is the norm for builders today's. The developers strip every inch of topsoil and then leave the new unknowing homeowner with absolute garbage to try and get grass to grow. They THROW sod down on the front and some down the sides and that's it. Homeowner is then suppose to seed the remaining crappy fill dirt and pray grass grows---very little does. They call in aeration companies like ours hoping for a miracle. Best thing to do is completely get rid of the remaining concrete chunks and gravel, bring in 2 to 3 inches of actual topsoil and start from there. Cheap?? Hell no, but if they want a real lawn the only way to go.

Tom, I notice in all your pours you have gravel underneath. I live in southwest Alabama and all our pours here you have to have plastic underneath to keep the concrete from drying to fast and cracking. Can you do a segment on the differences in concrete work in north vs south?. Great videos!

I know concrete, at its core, is a chemical process - but the artistry you and your crew add to it is wonderful 😊 Coming from an area where "concrete experts" are questionable at best, I appreciate your knowledge and experience.

Tom, a month or so ago you took some concrete cylinders that you planned on performing some destructive, compression cylinder break tests on (7-day, 14-day, 28-day compression tests). Did you post the follow-up video on that, or did I just miss it? Thanks

Having an HOA adds a next level power to your property that’s worse than government.

Love my HOA, no worries that my neighbour decides to run a body shop out of their front yard. Movies under the stars and Easter Bunny visits for the kids, summer community BBQ and games for the adults. I know most of our neighbours in our community of 80 homes. If that is not what you value then don’t buy into a community that does.

I'm surprised that the homeowner did not have you pour a small concrete landing pad at the bottom of the stairs that come down the side of the house from the upper deck. This was the perfect opportunity that the homeowner should have taken for you and your crew to pour that stair landing pad while you were there pouring the lower patio. Oh well.

A common error made by concrete contractors is getting step and stair heights wrong. Most U.S. building codes are based the IBC. The code state the following: R311.7.5.1 Risers. The riser height shall be not more than 7-3/4 inches (196 mm). The riser shall be measured vertically between leading edges of the adjacent treads. The greatest riser height within any flight of stairs shall not exceed the smallest by more than 3/8 inch (9.5 mm).

HOA stands for Home Owners Association. Usually they set and enforce rules to maintain an "approved appearance". Theoretically to prevent any reduction in property values due to incompatible aesthetics. But, frequently they devolve into petty enforcement of arbitrary rules.

I lived in a community with a HOA I was even the president of it for three years I hop0e my opinion means something here? Three letter agencies or organizations that we can do without, IRS, ATF, Department of Education, EPA, and HOA they all are acting like gestapo and we don't need any of that. Thank you for your content always Tom. Don't be late. Ed in Partlow Virginia
