I loved having a garage sale. My husband hated it. He would offer me $ to not have it. After he passed away I was moving and had set a huge sale under our 40x40 carport. A sudden micro burst came through and nearly everything was damaged or wet and broken. His chair was completely dry. He said no yard sales from heaven to me. I’ve not had another and it’s been 6 years. 😇😊

I'm a recovered shopoholic and Im 73, so I find it easier to just fill ip the back of my car with unneeded stuff, which is mostly new and unused, and take a load to Goodwill every month. Ive done this with literally tons of stuff over the last 10 years. It feels great to be in an uncluttered house!
I wish I had a quarter of the energy that you and Roger have! I wouldn’t worry about giving out your secrets. Not many people have the time or energy to do what you two do.

Storage Units: for about 15 years, when I was in my 40s & 50s, unloading and dispersing storage units was a big part of my business model. You learn to be systematic and efficient with your time and travel, because the volume can be overwhelming, especially if you buy multiples at the same auction or a few in the same week in different locations.
Your garage pre-sale situation explains a few things about why Roger always appears calm and controlled, he’s had lots of practice shifting volume.
People are dead serious about yard/garage sales I had no idea when I had my last one I opened the garage door at roughly 4:30 in the morning and there stood two people waiting I could see their eyeshine like two deer mulling about rubber necking at the end of the driveway asking if they could start shopping lol I was so shocked. I had no idea about reselling and getting the good stuff it was the furthest thing from my thinking.
The photos of Roger my goodness what a good looking young man and still a good looking young man! He could have been a model.

My brother (80) and I (75) have a big sale on the 3rd weekend of
Jan-Feb-March-April. He cleans out houses with his friends and always has furniture & bicycles to sell.
We have free coffee & cookies and music in our senior golf community.

Same. I just had a cement Buddha stolen out of my yard. I cannot leave anything out, because if I do, it’s not there the next day. It’s sad & like you, I live in a pretty decent neighborhood.

FUN! When I was a young kid, I built models like the ones Roger is selling - cars, buildings, boats, misc architectural structures. I wanted to go into engineering or architecture in the early years. So many goodies at your yard sale! Wish I lived close. $1000 WOW!

No, I think she means so you can kill off the mini storages and store instead for free on your own site. The monthly payments for mini storage spaces just adds up and I wonder at what point those fees total out above the value of what is stored😅
Karen this was so much fun. Lots of hard work but worth every minute I'm sure. As a super organized person, I was going crazy just watching the amount of items in the storage unit So glad you guys unloaded most of it. Roger was a really cute young man! Hope you both have a great vacation!

My husband hated yard sales, too, but my daughter and I loved them. We did Labor Day as well since a nearby venue had a special event yearly so lots of traffic going by my house. People parking on our lawn drove my husband crazy.. I gave up on them about 6 years ago and now do FB marketplace porch pickup or simply donate our stuff.
