Aquarium Co-Op I have a 60 litre tank, I have a red Bette with blue on the base of his tail. He got on really well with his original tank mates 5 Zebra danios. I just added 3 platy fish and 5 neon tetra. He was chasing them with his gills out for a few days but now he seems to be pretty fine with them being in there. I am worried however as he has developed a lump again underneath his body and I’m not sure what to do.
There was a fish store I visited that moved all their bettas from those tiny jars into various coop aquariums. My new favorite store. I hate seeing them in those little jars
My beta ate $40 worth of shrimp, 6 neons and my snail. Not too happy but at the end of the day, he’s my boy. He rules his 10 gallon tank with an iron fin!
my fish would probably kill anything i put in the tank some how a baby pray mantis got on a floating water plant in his tank when he saw it he pulled the plant under water and grabbed the bug by it head and drowned it and started hitting it a gents the glass till it died then he played with its dead body then he ate it and was almost as big as he was
uh, that, is what you basically call abuse. Tweezers need a minimum of 25 gallons, they grow up to at least 5 inches long. Second, Trimmers and Chopsticks NEED at least 300 gallons. HORRIBLE!
10 gallon. I've got my betta, 3 corydoras, 1 pleco, and 1 snail. Everything is great. My betta is laid back with his tank mates. But with his own reflection .. ITS ON. 😎
@@kylieghfox5650 Plecos also have a huge bioload, there almost as bad for that as goldfish. But yeah, Danielle's right, they need a lot more space than Stacy was giving them. It will end up stunted, with a weakened immune system, and less/lower quality of life.
I've had my blue betta with red highlights for 2 years in a 2 gallon fish bowl. Just recently I started a 30 gallon tank. I got a wealth of knowledge from Aquarium Co op and am so thankful it is nearby. So I bought 7 Corydoras, 10 Neon tetras, and introduced my Betta who had never been with any fish. It's day 3 now and all is well. The Betta is quite shy but is not skittish with the other fish. He is finding his way around the tank with a lot of rocks, and plants. The Corydoras seem to make him feel comfortable to come out and eat. I do have a few leaves floating at the top for the Betta to rest and sleep..
5 gallon with 1 male and 2 zebra nerite snails. Betta gets confused occasionally when he sees the snails on the glass but he leaves them alone after he's had a good inspection haha :)
I had good luck moving my betta into an aquarium where the other fish were there first, AND it's a big aquarium (40 gallons), and with a few plants to break things up. I had him with 6 neon tetras, 5 black neon tetras, 5 glowlight tetras, 3 platies, and 1 mystery snail. The betta LOVED swimming in every square inch of that tank. He never bothered anyone. But the platies started breeding like rabbits, and they were kind of hyper (males chasing females around), and the betta started seeming very stressed/wanting to hide. So I ended up taking him out. But he didn't cause any problems. And by the way, don't listen to people who tell you bettas "prefer" to live in a tiny bowl. Try putting your betta in a bigger tank and watch how much he loves being able to swim all over!
29 gallon with a betta, 2 honey gpuramies, and a bunch of guppies. Trick I used to get a calm betta was take the best looking ones I liked and lined them up next to each other. I then pick the one that did not flare or care about the other bettas next to him.
Yeah my LFS keeps them in community tanks and I picked the guy that was living with about 100 rashoras and was completely unfazed by them, good advice.
I just moved from a five gallon to a 10 gallon. We have two tanks now I just got a bigger one because my beta was originally from a community tank so I felt bad for leaving him alone in a big tank. Its honestly been a blast I usually have problems keeping pets on schedule because I’m so in my head so it’s always just been me and my cat lol. But cleaning the tank feeding everyday and sitting by and watching him swim while I do online school is really easy for me. I am 16 and I hope this helps me learn to be more scheduled when it comes to pets so I can get more tanks
@@JoJo_devil21 lol Im 15 but Im almost 16 next month,I got a 10 gallon recently but I need a while to aquascape it in order to put my betta in it,I think it should be done by tomorrow, question what fish do you breed?
I’m sorry to say, but I think your tank is over stocked. Usually a school of neon tetras need at least 25-30 gallons long. Especially with the Betta, and the harlequin rasboras, this is just too small for them. It can be hard to notice, but tetras can get stressed out if they don’t have enough room. I hope you take this into consideration, but otherwise good luck with you tank :)
I have a male glofish betta in a planted Fluval Flex 15 with a mystery snail and two Endler livebearers. I added the betta two days ago. I picked this betta because he was active, but not flaring at other bettas when I put their containers together. What I have observed so far - the betta once tried to nip at one of the snail's tentacles, but the snail pulled it back in time and there hasn't been a confrontation since. He does chase the Endlers from time to time, but they are too fast for him and they don't even seem to be afraid of him, as they will swim quite close to him. I really hope he doesn't hurt the Endlers. They are always active, play with each other and swim everywhere. Such a pleasure to watch.
Had a 29 gallon with platys, 4 cherry barbs, and a veil tail male. The betta used to eat the barb eggs, while they got in on in the plants. He also eventually started swimming with the platys, like he was one. He outlived them all (they were hand-me-down fish), and lived to about 4 years old. He never lived in anything smaller than a 10 gallon, and he was a great buddy.
I have a male betta in a 40 gallon community tank that does great. He has his spot in the pothos roots and seems very happy. I have guppies, black skirt tetras, cory cats, otos and a clown pleco. I also have a 20 gallon with a betta sorority that I am still working on. The sorority tank was started with baby females (very tiny fry). It has been really cool to watch them grow and see their colors develop. I plan on putting a few cory cats to put in with them.
3.5 gallon 1 twintail betta and 3 Nerite snails. Before I moved I had a 20 gallon with kuhli loaches and I use to try and stay up at night just to see them be active. Kuhli loaches are by far my favorite bottom dweller
I have a 5.5 gallon tank and I bought a black mystery snail and my male Betta doesn’t even care that he’s there He’s more interested in looking at himself
My 10 gallon tank is heavily planted. My betta gets along great with a school of 6 white cloud mountain minnows, 6 ghost shrimp, 20+ trumpet snails, and a pitbull pleco. Everyone has gotten along really well!
I think it's important to keep bettas in at least a 5 gallon and give them tank mates (a few small fish) to chase, as it keeps bettas active and healthy. If kept on their own, they get bored easily and are not as active, and are more likely to succumb to various illnesses that stem from inactivity, such as constipation. I can say from having 10 years of betta keeping experience, that they usually live longer when they are kept with other fish and are able to fulfill their natural instinct to chase or 'hunt'
I have a moon shaped aquarium, 3.5 gallons. Seems to be more than enough space for the betta and so I'm considering tank mates. Given what you said, even if it kills off a fish or two, I think a school of 5 red tetras might not be a bad idea along with some snails
@@outdoorfr3ak No. Im sorry, but no. You shouldn't get tankmates for your betta that lives in a 3.5gal. The minimum for a betta is 5gal. Having the betta in a tank that small AND adding tankmates to it, youre just going to stress out your fish. Please, a ten gallon tank is easy to get, and its less than 20 dollars, Petco is having a sale right now where in store the tank alone is around 13 dollars. You'll need to get some other supplies, but it is so worth it. You'll be able to get some really pretty fish to put in with your betta too.
I have a 4.5 gallon nano tank with live plants, 2 ghost shrimp, and one Betta . There have been no issues kept it simple and the tank came out amazingly
Bettas have such different personalities. I have a half moon that's crazy, crazy aggressive and I have it in a 45 breeder with a female convict and a juvenile firemouth. The Betta pushes around the firemouth BIG TIME but leaves the convict alone because it's so much bigger. I wouldn't put my other Betta in the same tank because it would get killed but this half moon can look after itself. The personality of the individual fish vary so much that you really have to take that into consideration.
Just added a female beta and 3 harlequin rasboras to a 10 gallon tank. Going to wait a week or so and add maybe 3 more rasboras. Was thinking about cardinal tetras but went with the rasboras! I’ll keep you posted on how they do 🤙🏻
No way! We live in the same town. I literally just googled your store before watching this video. All I searched was beta tank mates. I’ll be sure to stop by someimr
Its funny so many people live in Washington I grew up and went to school in Innis Arden right down the street from this guy's shopstumbled upon some of his videos while I was looking at aquascaping and found out where he's at stopped by his shop the other day to check it out and say hi to the mbu puffer!
I've successfully kept tank mates with every betta I have had over the years. Currently I have a 29 gallon with 1 male betta, 8 platys and 6 mystery snails. Then a 10 gallon with one betta, 2 mystery snails and a few ghost shrimp. Both tanks are well planted and long running cycled habitats. Love seeing all my happy, active fish!
46 gal with 1 female betta, 11 harlequin rasboras, 10 ember tetras, 7 cardinal tetras, and nerite/ramshorn snails. 20 gal with 1 male betta, 8 cherry barbs, and ramshorn snails.
@@ziltoid420 i have blk skirt widow, albino skirt widow, blk phantoms, red phantoms, serpae, lemon, gold, x-ray, head and tail light, rosy, white tip bentosi, all tetra`s and all school together, maybe more types of tetra cant remember :D
I have a 75 gal and added my male betta last but my tank has ghost shrimp and glofish. He is SUPER chill. He never even flares his cheeks. Super happy dude. Just get a tank big enough for your buddies.
I have my beta with 5 neon rainbows, 5 white stripe tetras, 4 kuhli loaches, 1 Mexican dwarf lobster and a yellow blue eyed pleco. They all seem to get along great! They are in a 33 gallon tank.
Before the internet, I had a 29 gallon aquarium, not really planted and I am totally surprised I didn't have any trouble with tank mates. I had a male betta, 2 blue gouramis (4 inches each) a dwarf gourami, 2 marble angels, a couple of cory catfish, and a black, red finned shark, and a few cardinal/black tetras. I must have been EXTREMELY lucky since none of them attacked or harassed each other. I had them for years, so should have bet on the lottery since my luck seemed to be exceptional. Weird huh? Oh, I also had a breeding pair of marigold swordtails, but they were usually in a separate tank since they had fry so often. Love Aqua Coop videos and Cory, you explain things so well and they are easy to understand, not like many others. Two thumbs up!
I have kept a betta in a angelfish community tank, I am currently keeping a betta with rams and guppies. I have also kept bettas with neon tetras, rummy noses, corys and mystery snails.
I keep my betta with 4 corydoras catfish, currently have a 10gal set up, but looking to expand and add a few more cories. So far it works great! My male betta is super laid back, and I think it helped that the cories were established in the tank before adding the betta so it wasn't as territorial. My betta actually seeks out the cories for entertainment, doesn't chase them or anything, just follows them from a distance until he gets bored :)
What I've discovered but haven't really seen anywhere is that, yes, your betta can be aggressive and attack the other fish; however, as with my betta, it can also become stressed and back off. My betta, Xiao Da Bian, is very timid (so timid that rather than flare up at his reflection he swims away) and having tank mates majorly stresses him out. He hides between the heater and the filter for the majority of the day and sleeps there too. When he's majorly stressed out he hides directly between the filter and the tank wall (the wall is curved so there's a pocket of space that he can easily get in and out of). He started eating less and would barely move around so eventually I moved his tank mates into a different tank. After that he was back to his usual activities.
My betta is in a 10gal and he can be pretty aggressive but I wanted more movement in my tank so I have 5 zebra Danios, 2 Black kuhli loaches, 5 ghost shrimp, and 2 snails! They all get along great, it definitely makes my betta more interested in his surroundings. It seems like a lot for my size tank but everything is going well. Frequent water changes and plenty of food to go around. The danios actually eat a lot of the food before the betta gets to it which is great because this helps with his over eating problems. I’m hoping the shrimp will breed so I can put them into an other tank.
Betta in a densely planted 90 gallon with a ton of neon tetras, black neon tetras, green neon tetras, a school of harlequin rasboras, rummy nose tetras, 5 Siamese algae eaters, ember tetras, a few cherry barbs, cherry shrimp and honey gouramis. It sounds crazy but everyone gets along fine and it looks awesome.
In my 10 Gallon I have 1 Blue Half moon betta, 5 glowlight tetras, 5 neon tetras, 10 Amano shrimp, and 1 pygmy pleco tank looks awesome and it is a harmonious environment. Planted well. It's cool seeing the contrast of the glowlight and neons and they all swim as 1. My betta is very tranquil and non aggressive he doesn't mind them at all and feeds right next to them.
My male koi betta (Lothric) is housed in a 20-gallon long tank with 11 harlequin rasboras, 7 neon tetras, and 9 panda cory catfish. It's been almost two years and no fatalities.
Hi! Old video but I’ll leave a comment anyways ☺️ I keep mine with Platies, Tetras, Cory’s, snails, “stingray loach”, ancistrus, Siamese algae eater and shrimp! 180 liter aquarium.
My room mate had a 5gallon with a betta, three neon tetras and two cory cats. The betta left the corys alone 100% and they never bothered each other, but he would stalk and hunt the tetras all day long. One ended up dying, and another now has an issue with balance, likely from being rammed into. The betta was super aggressive. We had to say goodbye to the betta two nights ago because something caused his entire body to paralyze and he died. All of the other fish look very healthy, aside from the one tetra who sometimes struggles to right himself (It sort of comes and goes, but he has all of his color back and he eats and swims with his buddy just fine). And she now has a Golden Killifish in place of the betta. Long story short, this betta did not like his neon tetra tank mates. Not one bit. But the corys worked out great.
Presley A you need at least a 10 gallon and also a peaceful betta to put them w tetras. You will find more success w rasboras in a 5 gallon w bettas bc the rasboras already naturally live in the wild w the betta, are smaller, and less active. Hengeli, lambchop, or neon green rasboras look awesome w bettas. Although I just edited and realized this isn't your tank lol.
I found the perfect stocking for my hex tank, a white betta with a hint of salmon in his veils picked me out a few days ago and went in with a few nerites and amanos, and a dozen or so ember tetras- I'm this close to going back for a few glowlight tetras- it's so subtle and graceful a tank, a little spicy but no drama. I love it.
I have a couple male bettas that I keep in smaller tanks right now. But after watching your other video saying they can be mixed with a community tank makes me really eager to try and see if I can possibly try one in each of my 20 gallon tanks. That would be amazing. I HATE feeling like I have to keep them alone.
I have a 5 gal portrait tank, heavily scaped, lots of live plants. Chili rasboras and nerite snails moved in first (along with bladder snails from the plants). Platinum red dragon plakat male went in a week or two later, did just fine. He was so peaceful I tried adding shrimp for cleanup.... and he went wild. Even the rasboras were targets for the first day. Meanwhile the betta I knew would be a terror is happily building bubble nests in his tank and ignoring the snails.
C.D. Reimer I have a peppered Cory catfish and his name is gumbo and I love him I really recommend Cory catfish because Thayer are very easy to take care of they don’t get big and they do a very good job cleaning
C.D. Reimer be careful about the fish you pick for your betta. It’s not only what will they do with/to your betta but do the fish feel comfortable in the same type of water?
My Betta Simon is super charismatic and friendly. He enjoys my company a lot since his 10 Gallon tank is close to my bed. When I'm not home to entertain him though he enjoys watching the tetras, panda corys and african dwarf frog also inside. Only time he has ever become aggressive was when he saw his reflection for the first time. Honestly think that some Bettas SHOULD have tank mates to keep them happy.
I got a 45 gallon tank with a male betta, 3ladies, 5 Corydora julii, 6 Otocinclus, neon tetras and 2 lightning blue ramirezi. They get along just fine!
I am putting together a similar tank, but it's 32 gal planted. Would 32 be large enough for what you have stocked, or should I reduce the fish numbers?
Be careful with housing males and females together.. The males produce a hormone in the water that can make the females egg bound and they eventually die from it. I had a male housed with several egg bound females until someone told me to seperate them. I only had them together because someone at a pet store told me it was okay.
20 gallon tall with 1 male delta tail betta, 12 harlequin rasboras, and 6 panda Corys. It did not work nearly as well when it was just the betta and the panda Corys. Betta stalked them and was very semi-aggressive in behavior but that made me opt for the harlequin rasbora over the Embers because they were bigger and less colorful and when they went in everything calmed down. I honestly was preparing to pull the betta at that same time if in fact he was going to make the rasboras stressed and vice-versa. But my tank is solid now and there's enough safety in numbers for the harlequins and pandas to exhibit normal behaviors and enough activity in the tank that while my delta is still the tank boss, he can't panther hunt any one fish in the tank. This was the video that introduced me to Cory and ACO and so I wanted to come back and say thanks for all the great info to help me get back into the hobby.
I actually keep my new betta (and old one before he died) with guppies, the first day there was fin nipping (from the betta) but no further aggression. My old betta, even though he established a territory before I put guppies in, didn’t seem to mind them, he would chase them a little but it wouldn’t turn in to anything aggressive.
I have an Oto in my 5 gal. The Betta chased him around for the first hour or so but they've been together for a couple weeks now and they do great. Sometimes they even hang out together. The Otos are so quick that even if you have a Betta that's a little more aggressive the Oto can get away and hide.
I got 4 otocinclus catfish with my Betta in a 10 gallon and two snails, my Betta actually seemed excited when I introduced them and the catfish arnt even scared of him anymore. They are best friends. my Betta is a very sweet boy he doesn’t even try to fight his reflection. I want to introduce some tetras to his tank but maybe in time I’ll get there.
My male half moon betta’s 9 gallon tankmates are 6 Pygmy Corydoras, 1 mystery snail and a female GBR! They are all so laid back and make the tank look great!
I love, love, love kuhli loaches and other serpentine typed fish. But after doing my own research I'm really confused why you would recommend them for a five gallon space. Pangio Kuhlii not only get to 4 inches long as adults, but are also school/shoal fish that prefer the company of several of their own kind like neons, rasboras and tetras do. If you put the recommended minimum of 6 Kuhlii necessary for a stable, gregarious school in a five gallon you're going to have overstocking issues which requires a lot more filtration (plants, bio-media, water changes) and fish math (hides, surface area, etc) to keep the chemistry/behavior stable in the tank. You're more likely to want 15-20 gallons MINIMUM for this species with ample hides, plants and soft (sand) substrate for them to feel most at home.
One of my older bettas is in a 5 gallon with some fancy guppies that were overstock. I saw him nip at one when I first put guppies in but the put the betta into a breeder box for a couple days to let them adjust. Since they’ve been fine. The guppies help to clean up the food the betta doesn’t eat. I should note the betta is an older rosetail and mostly just lays on the plants all day as he has issues turning quickly or really doing anything quickly.
In my betta fish tank, I had a 5 Gallon tank, and kept my male betta fish, 2 mystery aquarium snails, 3 cherry red shrimp, and 4 ghost shrimp. That tank turned out very well, and they all lived a long happy life. 🐠
I don't know what types of snails I got but they are tiny like a small coin and I have them in with my betta and they seems to get along just fine thanke for your vid helped me a lot.
Tried putting a mystery snail with my king halfmoon betta and he did exactly as you said and went crazy toward the antennas of the snail 😂 he is so aggressive that he will literally jump out of the water and bite my finger if i hold it too close to the water 😂
20 gallon tank. 7 neons, 5 embers, 1 electric blue ram and a red female beta. The ram has a huge personality - completely peaceful and has never caused problems. The beta and the ram are almost inseparable, with the beta always following the ram - if I didn't know better I would say it is flirting. I think I got lucky with these fish as they all seem to get along perfectly. From what I read online I wouldn't have expected it.
My opinion is that you have to make your own experience with things. While Google says that two fish don't come together nicely it must not be true for you. I'm not saying to put 2 bettas together but you get what I'm saying😉
10 gal with male betta, 4 guppies, 1 nerite and 1 mystery snail. We used to have a dojo loach but he was nipped at guppies so we got rid of him. Guy at pet store said at 3 inches loach was full grown. After doing research we learned dojo loach was way to big for our 10 gal and they grow very large.
I have a white dragon scale betta in a 20 gallon tank with ember tetras, a diamond tetra, some platy’s, a German Blue ram, and a spotted sailfin plecco. It’s a VERY fun tank! I was really nervous about putting him in this tank, but he just wasn’t doing well in his smaller tank. It took him about a week to adjust and now he cruises the tank making laps and is so fun to watch.
I currently have a Black Mystery snail and Tiger Nerite snail with my betta and they get along surprisingly well! The betta pretty much stays to himself. I also have a Golden Inca snail and Zebra Nerite snail in my fire belly toad tank. I’m really digging the snails!
It's amazing the differing personalities that bettas have. The betta i had before my last one, Steele, was so aggressive he would've made quick work of any tank mates had i given him any. He would attack fingers, his reflection, you name it. He was my vicious little attack boy. My current baby girl, Angel, lives up to her namesake. She's ultra active and curious about the cherry shrimp living with her, but she won't touch em. Got bored in record time and proceeded to wiggle at me.
I started with my Betta in a small DIY tank out of an old display I snagged from work, which was roughly 2 gallons without hardscape. Since then, I've pulled my old 29g out of storage and he's now living happily with way too many fish! I have at least 20 Zebra danios (my LFS was selling the fry as feeders so I bought ~10$ worth and they've since grown out), 5 dwarf neon rainbows, 5 feather-fin rainbows, 5 khuli loaches, 5 bronze cories, 3 SAEs, a trio of young sailfin mollies, a lone white skirt tetra, and there were some cherry shrimp in there ar one point but I have only seen one lately. He did harass the young zebras and the young mollies because they were so small, but he lost his interest once he realized how fast they were. So far, everything has been going great and its a beautiful community to watch with the lone bright red and blue sheriff patroling the tank.
With my Bettas I have Tank 1 (30gal): 10 x Head and tail tetra, 10 x neon tetra, 10 x glowstick tetra, ? guppies, ? ghost shrimp, 2 x fluorescent danios, 2 x saimese algae eater and 2 x 5 different type of Cory Dora Tank 2 (15Gal): 10 x Glass bloodfin tetra, 5 x flame tetra, 2 x guppies, 1 x hillstream loach, 1 x kuhli loach, ? ghost shrimp and 2 panda Cories These tanks have been going for 9 months now with nothing new introduced besides what ever has been born in there (guppies and shrimp). I also have tons of snails :/ I dont know if the bio load is too much for the tanks but they are heavily planted and everyone seems like they are thriving.
Platys work really good for me, I had a betta and 2 red wag platys in a 5.5 gallon tank and they got along good. I do weekly 30% water changes just to make sure the water is nice and clean for all the fish. Also, I don’t have a problem with my mystery snails.
My betta tried to eat my ADF’s 😂 Didn’t work out for him. Also, I need to express how angry I was just now because I was just at a Petco, and I found a BEAUTIFUL betta that was black and blue, and as I was running to show my mom (we were about to buy it) Someone took it and bought it. I let that one slip right out of my fingertips just like that 😢😭😡
Great video! I keep 3 female bettas, 1 albino BN pleco, 11 neon tetras, and 4 ghost shrimp with my male betta. They live in a heavily planted 29 gallon aquarium. The shrimp bred three weeks ago. Adding stem plants greatly reduces the amount of aggression in a beta aquarium. IMO
My betta is very chill with his african dwarf frog tank-mates. (I have 5 of them) they have a swimming log, a coconut, roots and many plants so they can hide from each other if needed.
My son rescued a female halfmoon betta and placed her in a fishless cycled 20H that also started out with 11 neon tetras, 4 ghost shrimps, 1 mystery snail and live plants. She killed overnight his only 3 egg carrying ghost shrimps & 6 neon tetras, the solution? I quarantined her in the cup she came with when we purchased her and placed it right next to the 20H fish tank for a couple weeks where she watched the others swim by and after giving her another chance now she's as sweet as she can be, doesn't bother the tetras, lonely shrimp and snail, she just swims gracefully past them or observes them and be busy exploring the tank, maybe she learned what would be the consequence if she did attacked again, we plan on adding a few more shrimps and fish companions with more hiding plants and see how that goes with her (finger crossed)
Could you do a list (longer the better) for useful/"utility" fish? For example: Otocinclus/Plecos for algae cleaning, Rummy-nose tetra for ammonia detection (they lose the redness in their face when ammonia is high in a tank), Dojo Loach for weather prediction. Stuff like that, I want to put together a tank where it's like every fish in the tank has role to play and they aren't there just for show.
Ive heard koi bettas are more aggressive. I have a female who chases tetras. It is now on its own. Have a baby pleco that was born in another tank and didn't want to risk it with the betta. Also she beat up a male betta instead of breeding. Is that true about koi bettas?
Jerome Perner My male koi was very sweet and would swim away from his reflection 😂. On the other hand, my 2 female koi bettas in my sorority are the alpha and #2. That being said, I don’t think I have enough evidence to make a solid conclusion LOL
Koi are typically a plakat form, which tend to be a bit more high strung. My koi female is super active for a betta but very peaceful, as she lives with tetras and a pleco among other fish without even a flare.
I have a 5 gallon tank. I have a female beta and two blue velvet shrimp. She was curious about them the first day but has left them alone since then. The shrimp don’t get very big about 2 inches at there biggest. And she is the only fish in the tank. But the shrimp are a beautiful blue color and they match her colors as she is a blue-purple color. I have orange gravel in the tank and live plants for her and the shrimp to hide or play in. So far it’s worked well.
I have a 55 gallon tank. I am still setting it up, been putting plants in it for 4 months now. I will be putting gouramis and snails and some guppies in there as well. I plan on having 2 male bettas when my tank is heavily planted. All live plants

I am worried however as he has developed a lump again underneath his body and I’m not sure what to do.
i got the snail but my betta ate it
I was wondering can you keep glo danios or zebra danios with a betta in a ten gallon
with the ember tetras would you get 2 different foods or one that both fish types can eat?
I have a 30 litter tank so... Is it enough for 6 ember tetras??
There was a fish store I visited that moved all their bettas from those tiny jars into various coop aquariums. My new favorite store. I hate seeing them in those little jars
I feel you, that makes me happy that they gave them a better temporary home!
Heidi Allen same i seen a pet store that each betta has there owns big tank
My local store keeps all the female bettas in a big tank with some docile fish, such as corys, snails, ect
Respect
yeah it’s so sad
My beta ate $40 worth of shrimp, 6 neons and my snail. Not too happy but at the end of the day, he’s my boy. He rules his 10 gallon tank with an iron fin!
Outdoor gentleman I would flush that fish after eating 40 bucks of shrimp lol
Oof
Liam what if the betta cost more than a hundred? haha
my fish would probably kill anything i put in the tank some how a baby pray mantis got on a floating water plant in his tank when he saw it he pulled the plant under water and grabbed the bug by it head and drowned it and started hitting it a gents the glass till it died then he played with its dead body then he ate it and was almost as big as he was
Sherri M why didn't you just keep the betta in the 9 gallon!??!?
Here’s the list:
4. Kuhli Loaches- 0:43
3. Ember Tetra- 1:23
2. Malaysian Trumpet Snails- 2:01
1. Harlequin Rasboras- 3:07
Thx
Thank you! lol - I was just about to do this.
Not all heroes wear capes❤
Livi Olson How big do the ember tetra get ?
Thanks😆
I keep my tweezers, trimmers, chopsticks and other misc aquarium tool in my 1 gal. That's probably the most I would keep in a 1gal bowl.
SoggyFries seems overstocked tbh , cruel on the tweezers
According to inch per gallon rule, u should be keeping them in atleast 40 breeder 😜
uh, that, is what you basically call abuse. Tweezers need a minimum of 25 gallons, they grow up to at least 5 inches long. Second, Trimmers and Chopsticks NEED at least 300 gallons. HORRIBLE!
@@nukeno0dle931 LOL
Trimmers and chopsticks are NOT suitable tank mates and each need at least 5 gallons. Please do your research...
10 gallon. I've got my betta, 3 corydoras, 1 pleco, and 1 snail.
Everything is great. My betta is laid back with his tank mates. But with his own reflection
.. ITS ON. 😎
A pleco is a bad idea
Danielle Lippert I have had a pleco with mine for over two years no problems
@@kylieghfox5650 do you realize how big plecos get?? Plecos shouldn't be in a 10 gallon by themselves much less with 4 other fish.
@@kylieghfox5650 even the smallest plecos, like clown plecos, need at least 20 gallons
Good on you for giving him such a big upgrade!
That is amazing!!!
5 gallon with 1 male and 2 zebra nerite snails. Betta gets confused occasionally when he sees the snails on the glass but he leaves them alone after he's had a good inspection haha :)
StellarMinatureStarfish That is my exact tank setup as well!! I think my betta thinks the snails are moving rocks. 😂
Same setup except 10 gallon. Betta completely ignore them, however I put a couple RCS in there this past week and he went right after them.
StellarMinatureStarfish mine does that too!

Do aquarium snails need live plants?
I ve read this is the trick , beta goes last because he doesn’t identifies them as food
29 gallon with a betta, 2 honey gpuramies, and a bunch of guppies.
Trick I used to get a calm betta was take the best looking ones I liked and lined them up next to each other. I then pick the one that did not flare or care about the other bettas next to him.
Our male betta never wanted to fight other male bettas, but he wanted to fight almost everything else once we put them in the tank with him.
Did the same then borrowed my sister's giant snail and he didnt seem to care about it. Added other things and he still doesn't care. I love it!
Adam. How did you fix fin rot in a week?
Mine is healthy now but he is new. In case of a disaster I would like know, thanks.
Yeah my LFS keeps them in community tanks and I picked the guy that was living with about 100 rashoras and was completely unfazed by them, good advice.
I had my last betta in a 90 with 6 angels, 4 rainbows, 2 plecos and a pictus cat had him in there fir like year before he got sick and died.
I started with a 1.5 gallon for my Beep. Then a 5.5, and now a 10. I am only 14 and not at all rich. If i can do it, so can you.
Good on you. The larger tanks are much better for the fish than the smaller ones. Easier to take care of, too.
I started wen I was 12 and now I have 8 fish tanks and a fish breeder and don't know how I manage it and I'm only 14 now 😁😁
@@JoJo_devil21 lol Im 15 but Im almost 16 next month,I got a 10 gallon recently but I need a while to aquascape it in order to put my betta in it,I think it should be done by tomorrow, question what fish do you breed?

Is it a male betta or a female...??
male
I’m sorry to say, but I think your tank is over stocked. Usually a school of neon tetras need at least 25-30 gallons long. Especially with the Betta, and the harlequin rasboras, this is just too small for them. It can be hard to notice, but tetras can get stressed out if they don’t have enough room. I hope you take this into consideration, but otherwise good luck with you tank :)
Nobody In Particular a school of neon tetras are perfectly fine in a 20 long idk what your talking about
Jake Dows they can live in a twenty gallon long. I don’t know why I said 25-30 gallons long.
Every time I think of a question you’ve already made a video on it your channel is so freaking convenient
I "borrowed" a Beto from petco because he really had bad fin wrought and now after 3 years he's almost completely healed 💅😌✨

I also borrowed a few bettas back in the day. Many rescues.

3.5 gallon 1 twintail betta and 3 Nerite snails. Before I moved I had a 20 gallon with kuhli loaches and I use to try and stay up at night just to see them be active. Kuhli loaches are by far my favorite bottom dweller
I have a 5.5 gallon tank and I bought a black mystery snail and my male Betta doesn’t even care that he’s there
He’s more interested in looking at himself
I used to have ten large old ghost shrimp, now I have three. I don't think a small tank and shrimp/bettas are a good long term combo, myself.
I’ll keep you posted on how they do 🤙🏻
Any updates?
No way! We live in the same town. I literally just googled your store before watching this video. All I searched was beta tank mates. I’ll be sure to stop by someimr

Nice picks for Betta fish. I’ve been trying to get khuli loaches for a while but they’re really hard to find in my area.

Thanks, never seen them near me but I will keep looking.
Exactly me rn, i dont want to add any cory but maybe tetra or rasbora.. how many do u think ? I dont want to overpopulate the 10 gal
Boo glow light tetras

5 gallons is pretty small for Cory cats and they should be in schools of 4+
I mean, you're preaching to the choir. They're not my fish...
I also have corydoras, neon tetras and some gouramis living together in a 10gallon tank

I would get a school of panda cory catfish. They're small and very cute.

Wow!!! How cool that you’re able to have male and female bettas together!
Be careful with housing males and females together.. The males produce a hormone in the water that can make the females egg bound and they eventually die from it. I had a male housed with several egg bound females until someone told me to seperate them. I only had them together because someone at a pet store told me it was okay.
Amanda Johnston holy sh*t I have lost so many females to this n I don't even know, tk u!
45s are great. You can do a lot of weird combos because the fish have so much room. I have one too.
Neon tetras work very well for me and they school with embers which is really helpful
My betta absolutely loves his mystery snail buddy
Endlers, harlequin rasboras, & cory cats in a 20 tall!
I had emerald green cory’s and they worked beautifully with my betta never got into fights or anything it was a really cool setup
Cory Hi! from Miami Florida. 20 gallon tank tall 1 female Betta and 4 nerite snails. Set up was done in beginning of quarantine.

I have a Betta in with Rummy Nose Tetras , Kuhli Loaches , zebra and tiger snails in 20 gal
In my betta fish tank, I had a 5 Gallon tank, and kept my male betta fish, 2 mystery aquarium snails, 3 cherry red shrimp, and 4 ghost shrimp. That tank turned out very well, and they all lived a long happy life. 🐠
Good video Cory, especially the background with all the tanks.

Wow, the guy in the thumbnail can live in aquarium?
*y e s*
Yes he needs at least 1000 gallons though not begginer freindly and may eat certain fish but he doesn't eat bettas and he may like cooler water
My opinion is that you have to make your own experience with things. While Google says that two fish don't come together nicely it must not be true for you. I'm not saying to put 2 bettas together but you get what I'm saying😉
I have a 3.5 gal. Aquarium with a betta anda ghost shrimp with no issues
Could you put a couple ghost shrimp with this setup?
I have a white dragon scale betta in a 20 gallon tank with ember tetras, a diamond tetra, some platy’s, a German Blue ram, and a spotted sailfin plecco. It’s a VERY fun tank! I was really nervous about putting him in this tank, but he just wasn’t doing well in his smaller tank. It took him about a week to adjust and now he cruises the tank making laps and is so fun to watch.
African dwarf frogs seem to be okay with bettas from my experiences
I currently have a Black Mystery snail and Tiger Nerite snail with my betta and they get along surprisingly well! The betta pretty much stays to himself.
I also have a Golden Inca snail and Zebra Nerite snail in my fire belly toad tank. I’m really digging the snails!
how do you feed both with different foods
I think their diets are similar. So maybe put food different sides of the tanks to advoid competition
*HEY! THAT DIDN'T WORK FOR ME*
Jk! :p Love this channel.
I was looking for this comment.. nice.
Lmao I was scrolling down the comments and right when I read yours, he said it lol
@@minechick65 dollface let's start a Family 😋
With my Bettas I have
Tank 1 (30gal): 10 x Head and tail tetra, 10 x neon tetra, 10 x glowstick tetra, ? guppies, ? ghost shrimp, 2 x fluorescent danios, 2 x saimese algae eater and 2 x 5 different type of Cory Dora
Tank 2 (15Gal): 10 x Glass bloodfin tetra, 5 x flame tetra, 2 x guppies, 1 x hillstream loach, 1 x kuhli loach, ? ghost shrimp and 2 panda Cories
These tanks have been going for 9 months now with nothing new introduced besides what ever has been born in there (guppies and shrimp). I also have tons of snails :/ I dont know if the bio load is too much for the tanks but they are heavily planted and everyone seems like they are thriving.
Way overcrowded are you insane??
IMO
😮 I would love to try this!
You have females with your male? They get along fine?
The classic Oscar and betta pair
expensive diet you have for that oscar.
One of my co-workers had an angelfish that would kill anything else in its tank except for the betta lol.
Once that oscar gets bug it will be betta al mode in two gulps
When oscar gets Big not bug they will be betta al mode in tqo gulps
Old joke is old
My betta is very chill with his african dwarf frog tank-mates.
Yes! A trumpet snail did good for my betta and a shrimp did too. That betta was a calm betta.
Cory cats do great with bettas!
It's Ethan! Would 3 Cory cats do ok in a 5.5 gal?
@@Tia29451 No that's way to much of a small space....
MTS are the only tankmates my serial killer betta leaves alone!
May I ask what MTS means?😅
I know it doesn't work for everyone, but mixing betta's and guppies has worked for me in the past.
Probably just the fish not the fact that it’s a koi try getting another koi betta and see how that goes
Koi are typically a plakat form, which tend to be a bit more high strung. My koi female is super active for a betta but very peaceful, as she lives with tetras and a pleco among other fish without even a flare.
That's odd my koi betta is one of the chillest... my Male Vail tail is the worst... solitary cant even have snails in the tank lol
I have a female KO I betta she's really friendly 😊
Currently rolling with a 10 gallon and 1 betta and fancy tailed goldfish. My betta is a blue fantail and it’s super chill.
This "beta" work or no subscription for you!
Lol
Betta believe it!
LOL 😂
I have a 5 gallon tank. I have a female beta and two blue velvet shrimp. She was curious about them the first day but has left them alone since then. The shrimp don’t get very big about 2 inches at there biggest. And she is the only fish in the tank. But the shrimp are a beautiful blue color and they match her colors as she is a blue-purple color. I have orange gravel in the tank and live plants for her and the shrimp to hide or play in. So far it’s worked well.
Betta or Betta?...
how did you read it? 😛
Betta or
Betta is the same thing same spelling
I have a 55 gallon tank. I am still setting it up, been putting plants in it for 4 months now. I will be putting gouramis and snails and some guppies in there as well. I plan on having 2 male bettas when my tank is heavily planted. All live plants
