Keep in mind, Diablo's entire ploy in the first game was a gambit in order to draw in stronger people. Diablo WANTS to die in the first game. Not easily, mind you. He wants whoever finds and bests him to be as strong as they can be. That way they make a more fitting host. After acquiring said host, he immediately sets out and impregnates Adria, creating in the process yet another even MORE powerful future host in the process. It's entirely possible that the "hell" we see in Diablo is a manifested portion of Diablo's own realm. Summoned by Terror himself, to aid in his task of carrying on the ruse.
True, explains why they drop items and gold, even when its a skeleton with a only a bow. Yet they drop rare swords and armor that the skeleton clearly didn't have on
I had always figured that the Tristram cathedral dungeon didn't actually go to hell, but rather that the great evil festering there facilitated the essence of hell leaking through between the worlds, and that eventually, if Diablo (or rather his host Albrecht) hadn't been killed by the warrior who became the Dark Wanderer, the corruption would have weakened Sanctuary in that spot to the point a true gate between the realms would have been created. I always figured when I was playing D1 that the levels under Tristram couldn't be the actual hell realm, because it was far too small for one thing.
Interesting thought about D1's Hell being a manifestation of one of the 7 Circles. The manual states that Diablo's corruptive nature is warping reality and allowing Hell to spill over into the mortal world. So it *is* Hell, but not a fully realised representation of it. Over time, Diablo's influence would have brought Hell to the mortal realm. This is different to the upper levels, which are partly twisted by Albrecht's horror. It's also implied that the demons and abominations roaming the halls are, at least partially, ripped straight from Albrecht's nightmares. Pretty cool and interesting stuff.
They do a similar thing in the original dooms, where evil warps reality and turns earth into a hellscape. The mars moons are teleported into hell though. E2 is a moonbase being warped into hell. Then E3 is hell after you literally rappel off the moon onto hell

I'm actually playing D1 Belzebub mod right now, switching between D1 and D2 so as not to be too bogged down. In my opinion, even if D1 Hell is not the real hell, it is the most terrifying incarnation of it in all the games. D2 hell and chaos sanctuary to me was a perversion of the cathedral and home of demons in general, it was scary but mostly because of the powerful demons there. D3 hell, can't even remember... but D1 hell even now as I play it scares me. I can't really describe it, something in the level design, the limited vision or the ost just gives me the feeling of terror.
it's the OST everytime for me, it's spooky. I think its an often overlooked part of game design - a simple soundtrack. I think Doom 2016 was so successful due to that too.
Yeah diablo 1 actually feels like a horror game, if they had more puzzles it would be a horror game. It is the most true to the genre, diablo 2 is just so fun it gets a pass, and 3 shouldn't exist.

I always thought it was simply Diablo's dark influence that warps the environment around him. Closer you go to him more hellish it gets, not to mention the enemies that in time change from the common undead to demons. Just something to give you scale how destructive Diablo's influence is, that is if you think of him as a creature that corrupts everything he touches. He leaves behind demons as the Dark wanderer even if Diablo isn't at his full control (nor power) but there's enough of that influence to cause countless of locations of being attacked by the demons with him briefly visiting them or just passing by.
This is the true answer here. It's not that it was ever supposed to be true Hell (though of course, I'm speculating on that), but the fact that it is the deepest degree of corruption.
I have always wondered why Gillian and her grandmother live in a house just five seconds walking distance from the entrance to what is supposedly Hell? I get scared if I see a spider near my house, let alone Hell.

Although that raises a question... wouldn't Lazarus know? Or did he not care since his goal is Diablo and not hell as such? It's simply Diablo doing some re-decorating in the last 4 levels of the cathedral, because demonic aesthetics and stuff... On a serious note though, it's more of a corruption of the dungeon by Diablo to the point that it became a manifestation of part of hell itself. If he wasn't defeated by Aidan, the deepest level might have likely become a gateway connecting the burning hells to the mortal world.

The source of the three soulstones was the Worldstone, a nexus to other realms that had the power to alter reality, Inarius used the Worldstone to create Sanctuary, a world between Heaven and Hell. After the Sin War erupts, Tyrael plans to imprison the Three with the soulstones, quarried from the Worldstone. Izual betrays heaven and tells the Prime Evils about the soulstones and how to corrupt them. So, the Three begin to mastermind their own exile into the mortal realm. - Mephisto is the first to be bound by the soulstone and it's buried under the Guardian Tower in Travincal. - Baal's soulstone is shattered in the strife, the largest shard couldn't by itself hold Baal's essence; Tal Rasha volunteers to be entombed with the Shard of Destruction pushed into his chest. - Diablo is captured in a cavern under Tristram, and the Cathedral is built over it. But the soulstones are corrupted, they empower the Three and increase their influence on humanity. - First, Diablo's soulstone corrupts the Archbishop Lazarus, who descends into the labyrinth under the Cathedral in search of Diablo's soulstone. When he finds it, he shatters it and releases Diablo. Lazarus has to embed the Shard of Terror into someone in order to get a physical host for Diablo, he atempts to corrupt the King, Leoric, but he resists, although goes mad due to Diablo's influence. Finally he inserts the Shard of Terror into Albretch, Leoric's son and brother to Aidan, who later, after defeating Diablo, knowing that the Shard can't hold Diablo's essence, pierces his own forehead with the fragment of the soulstone. Soon, Diablo overpowers him, he comes to be known as the Dark Wanderer, and leaves towards the East seeking to free the Baal and Mephisto. - Mephisto's intact soulstone permeates through the Temple of Light, and takes over the High Council of Zakarum, Khalim the Que-Hegan who resisted is slayed and dismembered, Sankekur and the Council members shatter Mephisto's soulstone, and drive the pieces into their left hands, the largest of which, the Shard of Hatred, goes into Sankekur, who then embodies Mephisto. - Baal, from within Tal Rasha's body, persuades the Dark Wanderer's companion, Marius, to take the Shard of Destruction and release him from the Binding Stone. Baal later retrieves the Shard, regaining his full power, and marches towards Mount Arreat, raising an army, to avenge his Brothers -who were defeated, their soulstones destroyed in the Hellforge and banished to the Abyss- and to corrupt the Worldstone, annexing the mortal realm to the Burning Hells. Baal is slain, but he succeds at warping the Worldstone, forcing Tyreal to destroy it to unknown consecuences.
The hell at the end cutscene is totally different of the hell ingame itself! We can see some lava on the ground, but there's no lava in any level from 13 to 16, it would make more sense if they used some bones on the ground or pools of blood than lava. Sometimes it makes me think if the Map of The Stars would be a quest on some Lava dungeon itself and this scene would be used there after defeating Diablo, or if Hell was created after they have finalized the cutscene, and the final fight could possible have originally intended to happen in cave levels. The hell in the ending cutscene is even more familiar with Diablo 2 than 1. Ok I wrote enough I know. Nice video.
You know what, this is the first game series where I'm actually in agreement. Say what you want about Blizzard's games, but their cinematics are top-fucking-notch.
I played d1 on ps1 and it had split screen. Me and my cousin would go through, get stuck on a level. You could save ur character and start over. Regardless, we never did beat Diablo? Was it that hard? Or maybe we just sucked idk lol
I always kind of assumed that the area that you see in the first game called "Hell" was just Diablo's influence twisting reality to fit what Albrecht imagined actual Hell to be. In the section of the manual dedicated to the lore behind the game, one part of the kidnapping and eventual possession of Albrecht involved "all of the monsters that he had ever imagined or believed that he had seen in his life became flesh and were given life before him," which then spread out into the halls of the catacombs beneath the cathedral. It makes more sense to me that the small section of Hell we visit - which looks nothing like any version of Hell witnessed in later games, including the Realm of Terror itself - would really be the warping of a deeper area of the local caves into something much worse. Meanwhile, later in the manual, nearly every enemy in the game is given a creation story that doesn't involve Albrecht whatsoever, so it's hard to tell what should be considered canon.
Why your diablo 2 gameplay looks so good 😂🤦🏽♂️ I try to play diablo 2 classic on my computer after 20 incompatibility errors msgs 😂 I managed to get it working and I felt like I was playing diablo in a Atari 🤦🏽♂️
I always thought that it WAS hell, but like a specific room in hell that isn’t directly connected to other parts. It’s Hell, look around, even Diablo is there, where else would he be? But if you imagine hell like a big mansion, then where Diablo was, was his “room” Or wing. I also thought if it wasn’t that, then it was the reality being warped by diablos presence and probably influence, much like how they can create openings to summon more demons. I never thought of it as a part of hell you could invade hell from, it was just a closed off portion of it that held Diablo and his dudes. Like you would never be able to reach ”hell hq” from there, it it was definitely hell.
Plot twist Lazarus is a bishop working for the Horadrim Diablo did not wait for a host he wants to free himself from the soulstone , the lesser evils and the Horadrim seem to do morew damage than Diablo then the Angels ban Tyrael for messing around with the soulstone . There are Horadrim running around shoving soulstones into people turning them into demons to profit from their solutions....The real enemy is Horadrim.
random question, so the diamond arch I think, "generates" angels... what generates demons... also, are new angels and demons created, or the same ones who died rebirthed over and over again...
I just had a thought when you were talking about the realm of terror being the least populated since few can withstand it. Do you think Diablo is afraid?
I dont know if anyone knew but after tyreal destroyed the world stone after u kill baal that destroys the town below and killed some of the heroes from the game u get to pick so he is response able for that and that is also why he gets thrown down to earth and lost his memory he choose to be a human and he lost his angel status due to what he did to the town and the people and heroes.
I believe it was from diablo 3 when tyreal got his memory back but it could be from somewhere else my memory isn't the best since I discovered this years ago.but it is rather interesting because in diablo 3 u have lore from where the assassin is the assassin killed the sorcerer and the necromancer is alive but the paladin isnt alive the Amazon went back to her people and a new barbarian appeared after the old one died.Like I said this lore is from the other games and looking up what the others are doing.Plus there's several things in diablo, 3 I believe that give little bit of insight.Besides tyreal was cast out of heaven for destroying the soul stone in diablo 2 which destroyed the town and some heroes there.Which is why he was cast down to be a human and lost his memory and angel powers.
u know ... something doesn't add up ... we know that the soulstones were a part of the worldstone ... and the worldstone was absconded by Inarius and Lilith and created sanctuary ... so ... where the hell did tyrael get the soulstones from?
Hm, interesting. So it is actually Tristram, but corrupted to look like Diablo wants it to look. Because we haven't went into Hell itself(not in 1 we haven't), but just to a corrupted part of Sanctuary. Basically Hell != Hell* . That gives even more impressive outlook on Azmodan, people dismiss him because they do not understand him ; he's actually very, very well done(would still decrease mwuhahaha bits).
That would directly oppose their ideal of stasis and Harmony Their whole deal is staying the same as they are because they think they are perfect aspects of Anu when in reality they're just as bad if not worse than the demons If it wasn't for Tyreal they'd all still be at a stalemate fighting forever at the pandemonium fortress
why in your diablo videos the damage does come out items get highlighted and other life enhacers things exist is a mod or its teh gog vercion ? why i want that ;_;
They should of added the secret and ultimate weapon against the demons. A Holy Bible were the player sites the parables of Jesus and some Psalms. Missed opportunity!
the dark exile always seemed, weird, at best... that the greater evils were actually overthrown by the lesser evils power wise just did not make sense, of course, great powers have been overthrown in the past by lessers, so, history dictates there... but I do wonder official power comparisons, like is Diablo a match for the 4 lessers single handily for example, or for 3 or 2 of them...
I wanted to give a diablo immortal a try , but then the "don't you guys have phones" company decided that my galaxy s8 is too weak for this game. A little bit ironic isn't it ?
Well put! Yeah this is what I always thought. I think it's kinda garbage they shoe-horned in a sneaky adria plot to make Diablo seem smarter than they originally made him out to be. Mephisto was the mastermind type, he set his brothers against each other when they threatened him and was able to take over the leader of the world-spanning religion and then convert the council and basically the entire religion while Diablo failed to take one mediocre king and had to take a weak boy instead. Lucked out with his brother Aiden being an idiot for sure, but that whole adria plot being attributed to him feels like WoW levels of retcon.

Where are all these crazy 3D cinematics coming from?
Nice video.
Where do you find all of these clips from? The most I've been able to find are the speech and sound effects files from both games
I still think that it would be amazing if Diablo was made into a Netflix series.
Aidan: That Stench. Is it me, or are there zombies down here?

We all know the real Hellmouth is in Sunnydale.
And one in Boston, i think in the comics 😆 you are taking me back
Actually, I don't think I've seen anybody ask this yet-
Do You plan on making a full story of Diablo Immortal, if there will be campaign?
Great question! If the story is good, yes. If not - summary. But def will do something so ppl who don't wanna play, can watch.
Hi there! how did you do to play diablo 1 with windows 10? Thanks!
You can buy it on GOG for modern computers
I thought this was about the cut content alternate cathedral you emerge from in hell, instead of the usual bone staircase.
dude, you should cover some other horror games
or cover the sin war books!
Stupid question... the Diablo 1 that contain all cutted... is the Devilution-X Project ?? AND thanks for this lore stories... i love !!
Is belzebub mod for me! Cheers
Definitely needs to be a 12 minute video.
(0:34 - 1:00) That video is really cool. I like it.
The narrator sounds like colonel Roy Campbell from the MGS games.
Like you would never be able to reach ”hell hq” from there, it it was definitely hell.
where did that anime clip come from?
is there a diablo anime out and about somewhere?
Plot twist Lazarus is a bishop working for the Horadrim Diablo did not wait for a host he wants to free himself from the soulstone , the lesser evils and the Horadrim seem to do morew damage than Diablo then the Angels ban Tyrael for messing around with the soulstone . There are Horadrim running around shoving soulstones into people turning them into demons to profit from their solutions....The real enemy is Horadrim.
The real Hell was the friends we made along the way.
I dont know, to me its just another area of hell, thats all. Not a fake hell, just another place in it.
random question, so the diamond arch I think, "generates" angels... what generates demons... also, are new angels and demons created, or the same ones who died rebirthed over and over again...
I always thought Pepin was diablo. Why else would he be selling so many blood potions?
When you read the books, who does the narration for that? Sounds so familiar...
Paul Eiding. The Warrior, also colonel Campbell in metal gear. The uncle or grandpa or whatever in Ben 10. Plus a million other voices
In your Diablo 1 gameplays, I noticed you had a chest to put your loot in town. How did you get that? Did you add a mod or something to get that?
That under tristam was not hell.
That was just Diablos interior decoration!
5:11 Lalalala bend the knees....bend the knees, bend the kneees....bend the knees..lalala bend the knees....etc.
I just had a thought when you were talking about the realm of terror being the least populated since few can withstand it. Do you think Diablo is afraid?
He is basically immune to terror, being its living incarnation. But was reported to feel fear vs uldyssian, from memory
What is this cartoon you keep showing? With diablo n the angels.. is there like comic books I'm not aware of? Or movies about diablo?
Wrath short on youtube
I dont know if anyone knew but after tyreal destroyed the world stone after u kill baal that destroys the town below and killed some of the heroes from the game u get to pick so he is response able for that and that is also why he gets thrown down to earth and lost his memory he choose to be a human and he lost his angel status due to what he did to the town and the people and heroes.
Where did you get that info from re killed the heroes
This must be the place they call Heck.
Ha!
u know ... something doesn't add up ... we know that the soulstones were a part of the worldstone ... and the worldstone was absconded by Inarius and Lilith and created sanctuary ... so ... where the hell did tyrael get the soulstones from?
Hm, interesting. So it is actually Tristram, but corrupted to look like Diablo wants it to look. Because we haven't went into Hell itself(not in 1 we haven't), but just to a corrupted part of Sanctuary. Basically Hell != Hell* . That gives even more impressive outlook on Azmodan, people dismiss him because they do not understand him ; he's actually very, very well done(would still decrease mwuhahaha bits).
the essence of hell must be a great architect. it is able to build should large and detailed human structures
Those mages in the lower levels were by far the most annoying enemies I encountered in my playthrough as the warrior.
I keep hearing Ben 10s uncle narrating 🥴
If only Archangels could warp the reality arroun them in such a manner.
That would directly oppose their ideal of stasis and Harmony
Their whole deal is staying the same as they are because they think they are perfect aspects of Anu when in reality they're just as bad if not worse than the demons
If it wasn't for Tyreal they'd all still be at a stalemate fighting forever at the pandemonium fortress
why in your diablo videos the damage does come out items get highlighted and other life enhacers things exist is a mod or its teh gog vercion ? why i want that ;_;
They should of added the secret and ultimate weapon against the demons. A Holy Bible were the player sites the parables of Jesus and some Psalms. Missed opportunity!
oh so diablo is meeting thier diversity quotas eh? XD
Truly, a hellish machination Sanctuary can do without.
How do you get hit numbers on Diablo 1996?
Belzebub mod
the dark exile always seemed, weird, at best... that the greater evils were actually overthrown by the lesser evils power wise just did not make sense, of course, great powers have been overthrown in the past by lessers, so, history dictates there... but I do wonder official power comparisons, like is Diablo a match for the 4 lessers single handily for example, or for 3 or 2 of them...
Hell is where the Devil is
In his videos I see numbers of damage , quest markers , wirt very close to everyone else ... what version / mod is this ?
HD mod for d1
@@DarkLOREDash Thank you

At least, that looked realistic... 😏
At least the Diablo universe has a Mephisto. Unlike the MCU lol
you all have phones right??
Uhm.. It's called a Hellevator.. :3
How dare you say anything positive about Diablo immortal
or its just an excuse to bring tyrael back
