I basically learned how to swim at age 56, almost drowned at 15 and been in trauma of water since. Got a swimming coach and after 3 months training in the pool, I was able to swim on cross-channel open water and joined in open water race competitions. Frequency in open water also helped gradually improve my water confidence. Will be doing swimming as a regular exercise as a triathlete. This video is so helpful, made the basics so clear to follow.
I took up swimming for exercise about 6 months ago. I've watched numerous videos on technique and this is the most succinct one I've found. Thank you for making this.
Frankly speaking, this is the best Freestyle video I have seen so far. It is short and right on the point. Using easier to understand language with drills. Thank you!
being novice this is tremendous helpful for me. Thanks for sharing these very very useful, "what to do" and "what not to do technics". Big big thanks 😊
This is my favourite video on how to perform the front crawl!! Thank you so much for this. I think of this video every time I start working on my stroke. I have the music in my head! It’s brilliant!! ❤
This is great, I have watched so many videos by other instructors and this is by far the BEST, not complicated, clear and easy for someone to understand…. Thank you so much.
Namaste Tim, Thanks a lot for the tips. I am 35 and learning; all members in my family are swimmers but i was so afraid all my life. I tried your techniques the previous day. It gave me a certain confidence which I have never had. Thanks a lot
I am watched numerous videos as I must much... you have managed to explain/ demonstrate it far better that than any one else.. Pls help us how to be clam even in open water/deep water
Great video. Looks like I'm doing all of those things wrong, except for keeping the head neutral. Lots of practice ahead I think, especially on not windmilling the arms.
Good video, unlike many other videos you have clearly explained it. It makes things a lot clearer for me as an average swimmer. Can't wait to be in the pool to test them out. Thanks for your tips.
I am a national level swimmer...you are very genuine and explained everything very clearly what you know...people need a swimmer like you to explain every authentic data about every stroke your muscle memory knows
Awesome video and nice demonstrations....thanks a billion...I'll work on these steps...gives me some confidence now....I think it is all in the BRAIN that we need to program /remind these instructions and then things will improve with practice...
Howdy Tim - fabulous video instruction. Especially the head and body posture and the rotation are great advise. I noticed you didnt talk about the axis , from the center of your head to your center at your bottom. I also noticed your (left) hand position is slightly off the axis. This creates a minute drag in the front quadrant., but more importantly you begin your catch phase OUTSIDE the axis. Definatel less propulsive force . I've always been curious why many of the instructors of our time do not pay attention to the legs. I worked with Terry Laughlin in the 70s, he attained a huge percentage of his legacy stroke style from us. He witnessed my coach teaching the fluid, compact, pitter patter "rumble" kick to me. Terry never adopted the legs into his total immersion juggernaut. Many of us are NOT kickers. But we don't have to kick HARD ....we just have to kick nicely without dragging the limbs. I did see you pull 1 dolphin kick off of 1 wall. My coach and I invented the full body whip kick in 1969. Off of starts, turns , front and inverted. Not until Berkoff broke both the backstroke marks in 84 did anyone notice. Actually Jesse Vassallo saw me in Warm ups at Spring and summer Nats of 1979. By 1980 he began training it and using that underwater dolphin. Amazing talent . It sure will be nice to discuss our philosophy further! I'd like to know more about how the beaver got that way!! 🐬🏊♀️🌈. JEFF STUART stumax96@gmail.com
Thank You Soo much, I had seen a lot of videos regarding swimming 🥽 Strokes... I recommended this this the the Best video in which explain in very easy way as well explained completely...♥️💐👍 Thank You Soo Much again Dear!
Ben turkiyeden takip ediyorum sizi yeni yüzme öğrenmeye başladım kaç tane video izledim takip ediyorum ama dilinizi anlamasam teknikeriniz öğretiminiz net ve bilgilendirici güzel öğrenmiyorum sayenizde çok sağolun teşekkür ederim aynı dili konuşuyor olmasaydık çokkk mutlu olurdum🤗
What a beautiful stroke! so graceful..I believe nearly 100% efficient. only 11 1/2 strokes with only light kicking! Amazing.I want to be like you. Thanks for the great instructional video..keep em coming.
Liked the video and ur nice demonistration .. however , its important to say that high elbow catch is not that ur elbow is high at the surface which is a common misunderstanding among swimmers . It means if u draw a line between shoulder and wrist the elbow will be above to that line ...keeping the hands at the surface will increase the resistant ... it should be wrist below elbow and elbow below shoulder before you start the catch ...... in other means elbow should not be necesserly high ... it should not be dropped .. i hope that you correct that in the video because the rest of the video is so helpful and full of nice demonstations for swimmers .. thanks alot
Really good drills, there's just one major problem in almost all of them.. breathing. If you follow BLABT (Body Position, Legs, Arms, Breathing, Timing) then you'll notice the arms should be learnt before the breathing. So the only way to do these drills is with either a center snorkel or 10m short swims. They're good drills though, although I'd Personaly say it's over rotation but it's tricky to judge.
I am 68 years old but I am still struggling in my free style. I have difficults to kick my legs. I am putting my chin down instead of looking ahead but is not working. Although I am trying to breathe for both sides my left one is not good. I am so discouraged. Nice your video.
Thanks. Terrific. I could have used this great informative video years ago If you need help I can send you a video of what not to do ..i seem to have mastered that. Thanks again
Very nice demonstration. I have a question though. Isn't it better to have a bent elbow just before finishing the pull and raising it out of the water bent? I remember someone was saying it gets a better finish to the pull (pulling backwards instead of upwards) and also protects the joints.
Convincing style of teaching -Bravo ! God bless you to share for those viewers as a learner or swimmer but technically incorrect. Please guide on feee style breathing techniques as experience very heavy non continuity breathing problem resulting in stopping ✋ swimming intermittently ! Help us plz !

thank you for posting this- it was really clear and concise.
Thanx. The elbow point….worked with me. I “swing around” and don’t “swing up”. Your video validated me. More confident now.
Namaste Tim, Thanks a lot for the tips. I am 35 and learning; all members in my family are swimmers but i was so afraid all my life. I tried your techniques the previous day. It gave me a certain confidence which I have never had. Thanks a lot

I've been looking at how to swim freestyle videos a lot and all of it taught me nothing, this video is on point thanks a lot
I'm practicing it at the very moment of pandemic since we have a pool on the condominium and this one is very informative.
Great video. Looks like I'm doing all of those things wrong, except for keeping the head neutral. Lots of practice ahead I think, especially on not windmilling the arms.
best down to earth video. what to do. and here you differs from other videos. "why you do it". and avoid this. perfekt.
Good video, unlike many other videos you have clearly explained it. It makes things a lot clearer for me as an average swimmer. Can't wait to be in the pool to test them out. Thanks for your tips.
