about 6:38. Yes, it is a signal. If yoh check it with a program, that makes a picture from sounds, u get a picture of moon, with a flag and companion cube there.
Cave Johnson, at the height of his madness and illness, forced Caroline's mind to be transferred to the central computer, turning her into GlaDos. Who knows what might have happened next? Perhaps GlaDos took revenge and transferred Cave's mind to the "different turret" and abandoned him among so many watch turrets, watching over his magnanimous Aperture Science complex forever and ever.
It's a peculiar speculation, but I don't think it's correct; quoting Cave Johnson: _"Brain Mapping. Artificial Intelligence. We should have been working on it thirty years ago. I will say this - and I'm gonna say it on tape so everybody hears it a hundred times a day: If I die before you people can pour me into a computer, I want Caroline to run this place."_ _"Now she'll argue. She'll say she can't. She's modest like that. But you make her."_ _"Hell, put her in my computer. I don't care."_ Basically, it was an absurd threat to scare his scientists in a mad attempt to speed up their work. The fact GlaDos was created implies that they failed their duty, and Cave Johnson died before they obtanied the technology to "transfer his mind into a computer". Also, but these are just my 2 cents, talking about mind transferring is incorrect in my opinion: Cave Johnson died, Caroline died as well; the data in which Caroline's brain was converted into are second being, a backup which started its own indipendent existence the moment it got created.
@@massimobeccari1962 Yeah, glados is basically a corrupted version of caroline, it didn't have the thingy that stopped her from doing evil, or she somehow bypassed it and released the neuro toxins out
No. Cave died before he would be able to transfer his mind into a computer, and he wanted Caroline to take his place. She went crazy, and flooded the facility with neurotoxin. Only one person survived. Rattmann. She began testing, and Rattmann moved Chell to the top of the testing list, in hopes of defeating GLaDOS. She succeeded, but when Rattmann saw her being dragged back in, he felt guilty, so he hooked Chell up to the reserve power to save her. Then when she wakes up after that reserve power runs out, Portal 2 begins.
Damn, must admit I missed most of these, caught maybe 4 or 5. The one that surprised me the most was Chell's drawing though. The theory that she could be Cave Johnson's child would also mean she is probably Caroline's child. Which by extension would mean that GLaDOS is technically her mother... All those parents abandoned you jokes became a lot less funny when I think of that possibility. If you think it further it would also mean she'd been in this facility from the time she was born, which seems fairly likely if you think about it, it's not like she's old, but she is an adult already, meaning she'd have spent at least 2 decades in there a lot of which most likely spent on tests. This could mean that all these little drawings we find throughout the game were probably made by none other than herself. I always thought it was supposed to be made by some other test subjects, but it was made clear in this game that finding test subjects was already very hard for Cave Johnson what must have been a fairly long time ago. And how many test subjects would have a penchant for drawing on walls, and the same art style? I also noticed on my last playthrough that Cave Johnson ordered his scientists to turn Caroline into an AI no matter what, even if she refuses they were to just force her to do it. Don't remember the exact quote, but that got me thinking, GLaDOS might have been created against her will. That would certainly fuck someone up wouldn't it? And coincidentally... Explain a lot, like why she just killed all the scientists.
The drawings on the walls are by Doug Ratmann, an ex-employee of Aperture Science who actually saw GLaDOS’s activation and moved Chell to the front of the testing list just before the events of Portal one
the theory about chell being glados's daughter is supported by the song at the end sung by the turrets carra mia, in english it uses "my daughter" and "my love" quite often
D3dSalamandre It’s likely that Chell is her daughter because at the end, all the turrets sing: “Cara bella, cara mia bella! Mia bambina, o Chell! Ché la stimo... Ché la stimo. O cara mia, addio! La mia bambina cara, Perché non passi lontana? Sì, lontana da Scienza, Cara, cara mia bambina?” Which roughly translates to “Beautiful darling, my beautiful darling! My daughter, oh Chell, who I value/care for. Oh my dear, goodbye! My beloved daughter, Why don’t you go far away? Yes, far from Science, dear, my beloved daughter.”
5:05 Please note this isn't the only way to bring the Cube with you. Note that past the broken emancipation grill, there's a white wall that you can portal onto. Simply put a portal there, put another portal in the chamber, grab the cube, and go through them. In my opinion, it's easier than putting the cube as close as you can to the exit to try and grab it. 7:40 That's not actually a drawing, That's Chell's Potato Battery Experiment. She used something from her father's workplace. I'm guessing with all the things in Portal, I'm gonna assume she used something from Aperture Science. 8:54 You Monster.

On the companion cube level and the first redirection cube level, the "peeking wheatley" can be grabbed from the walls and brought into the level with you but doesn't actually do anything.
6:00 you don't need to be fast at all. Catch the radio when it's flying towards you then go back to the beginning with it and escort it to the rat man's den.
7:58 you failed to notice or to say that this object show most likely represents a "Flux Capacitor" from the Movie "Back to the Future". The form and the lights look like it.
For the radio, it is activated by putting the disk near or on the radio. Also, the turret says more. You can wait until it says "That's all I can say".
The radio noise thing has been deciphered already, it's an SSTV signal and pictures a companion cube on the Moon. There's plenty of videos about this particular one
13:51 Be quick, but if you look at the middle camera on that metal square that circle looks like the aputure logo(i dont know if it was in the HL game as an importance but see it)
Fun fact: if u get to the rattmann den with a drawing of chell sleeping(which you can see in the lab rat comic) you can hear him mumbling and talking. It's not specifically stated what he says but the people that do always find him saying stuff about cave johnson and about being lonely. This implies that he might be alive but it hasn't been stated officially
9:36 i remember that Glados specifically said that this room was designed by an aperture Nobel prize winner. I think that this room was designed by Doug rattman and the secret room was put there by him
13:58 I did the same thing in Portal 1 and this is what happened She said "Your not a good person. You know that right?" And in the wispering-like voice thing like the exact same recording as during escaping in Portal 1
06:31 That's clearly an SSTV signal, there are apps you can use to decode it into a picture; need to listen for it for long enough to get the whole thing, and it's important to not get other sounds mixed. They used it before in the ARG for the announcement of Portal 2
7:53 Chell is the orphaned daughter of one of the employees. Glados herself says that Chell is orphaned. I don't think Cave Johnson ever had a child...
8:55 If you wouldnt kill the turret, it would say "Her name is Caroline". This adds up to all the stuff GLaDOS says in the old offices and testing tracks, when she hears or sees Cave Johnson. Thats the easter egg.
"those people are familiar" She tryin to tell you they're your family. Chell was given away to an adoptive family (presumably Rattmann was the adoptive dad, this how he knew to make Chell the no1 test subject in the Portal comic in order for her to be put in cryostasis) but she was the lovechild of those two that ran Aperture. And to top it all off, the consciousness that became Glados is actually that of Caroline (the woman in the picture 1:19) so she's your mother haha
The radio found on that level has scrambled audio with a picture of a companion cube on the moon, possibly foreshadowing the ending amongst other things. That’s my favourite level in the game because of GLaDOS’ dialogue, the gameplay, the music, and that little secret.
In the spanish translation of the game (that is from spain) i don't remember when but wheatley speaks spanish from argentina who is known for all the difference it has to spain spanish xD
I saw a video of multiple versions of that message in different languages. The messages were always either the Spanish or English translation of "You are using this translation tool incorrectly. Please consult the manual."
It's an SSTV (Slow Scan Television) signal. Essentially a very low resolution analog JPEG sent via soundwaves. Used for transmitting images via low-bandwidth radio.
2:35 if she beat the tests GLaDOS would have set chell free so she made the turrets rehearse for whatever their part was in the song at the end of the game
And some games actually have Portal easter egg as well. In Minecraft older version, crafting a cake will give you an achievement called: “The Lie” which refer to the paper that says: “the cake is a lie” Not that secret. But still an egg.
6:26 not exactly a "code" if you look at the audiograph its supposed to be a picture of a companion cube and a picture of the moon with he earth in the backround. 8:268:40 the turret is quoting cave johnson when he said "when life gives you lemons don't make lemonade"
If you time it well enough, you can actually grab this sprite (4:36) of Wheatley from out this hiding spot! Since its not meant to happen, he doesn't have any voice lines or actions, but you're able to bring him all the way to the lift at the end if you wanted lol. I'm not sure if this works for his other peeking spots, but i think as long as you're able to grab him you can take him with you? At 6:38, i'm pretty sure you're right about the code thing! I don't remember what kind of encryption it is BUT I'm pretty sure that that's the radio that - when decoded - shows a picture of the companion cube on the moon And it's not shown in the video, but the full dialogue from the Oracle Turret is "I'm different. Thank you.... get mad!.... don't make lemonade... Prometheus was punished by the gods for giving the gift of knowledge to man, he was cast into the bowels of the earth and pecked by birds... it won't be enough... the answer is beneath us.... Her name is Caroline.... Remember that!.... That's all i can say...." referencing Cave Johnsons lemon speech twice, PotatOS, Wheatley getting corrupted, Old Aperture and ofc Caroline
6:18 Secret is this is old NASA coding sequence for imaging. In the old days moon photos send by a sound frequency so in the Earth could hear it and decompile as image so we can see nice pictures of moon from surface. Use a special sound sequencer to decompile image.
The radio sound at 6:19 is an SSTV transmit. I couldn't get an effective picture off of it from this video because the header was obscured by GLaDOS talking.
When you hold long enough the turret at 8:46, it will also say "Her name was Caroline" (referencing to GLaDOS human past) and also seconds after it "Be sure to remember that".
Yeah, it also says "The answer is beneath us", referencing the Aperture Innovators lab under the main facility.

that's weird, i wonder why they changed it

@@filthykid7069 So you're saying Germans would understand Spanish? Read that sentence but slowly.
in spanish he sais that in english too
13:51 Be quick, but if you look at the middle camera on that metal square that circle looks like the aputure logo(i dont know if it was in the HL game as an importance but see it)
Me too
How can Portal be such a charming, funny, light-hearted puzzle game while still feeling so dark and foreboding with an overall oppressive atmosphere.
6:38 if you have a special audio decoding software, you can use it on that code in the game to produce an image of the companion cube on the moon
Finally, a Portal 2 Easter egg video with Easter eggs I don't know!
if you wait long enough in the second part of wheatlys test, he just straight up leaves
10:23 If you go near the drawing and look at Chell, you will hear faint beatboxing by a turrret
bruh what, is there a video of this?
@@Smileyreal I havent found any. I just discovered it while playing recently
9:36 i remember that Glados specifically said that this room was designed by an aperture Nobel prize winner. I think that this room was designed by Doug rattman and the secret room was put there by him
I never knew you could find Wheatley under the floor panels!
I thought I saw that blue ball under there. I knew he was in the walls, but wow!
4:58 I KNEW I SAW THAT PESKY ROBOT YESTERDAY! I'M NOT CRAZY!
Doesn't the companion cube at 05:06 play a song if you're close enough? I heard it while playing the game once and got so confused lol
13:58 I did the same thing in Portal 1 and this is what happened
She said "Your not a good person.
Also I found it interesting that the "defective turret" said only cave johnson quotes, except for the story of Prometheus.
On one of the “peeking Wheatly” Easter eggs, you can pick him up
(reference to 15:14) wheatly's translation:
you are using this incorrect translation software. please consult the manual
That radio was emitting a CCTV noise. I think if you get the right software you can get a picture out of it. I saw it on another video.
It is a code to that the radio makes. Because it forms a picture of the companion cube on the moon.
7:53 Chell is the orphaned daughter of one of the employees. Glados herself says that Chell is orphaned. I don't think Cave Johnson ever had a child...
Isn't Caroline/GLaDOS Chell's mother, though? I think I'd be orphaned too if my mom was forced into a robot haha
Look up "portal 2 radio image", it explains the weird radio noises.
Note at 6:44 there is a code if. How i found out? Simple i saw the image chilling in my dream and decoded it that morning with an app
These failed expirement secret tapes are so hilarious!
8:55 If you wouldnt kill the turret, it would say "Her name is Caroline". This adds up to all the stuff GLaDOS says in the old offices and testing tracks, when she hears or sees Cave Johnson. Thats the easter egg.
9:03
W I D E A T L A S
Thank you.
Get mad.
I love how use press E to go along with the singing turrets.
9:43 - You forgetted of continue the talk of the turret (i can't remember because i already forgot)
Horrendous English skills mate.
6:25 Yes, its some sort of code i don't know how it works but when decoded it shows a picture of a companion cube on the moon.
2:49 when the player joins the turrets lmao
"those people are familiar" She tryin to tell you they're your family. Chell was given away to an adoptive family (presumably Rattmann was the adoptive dad, this how he knew to make Chell the no1 test subject in the Portal comic in order for her to be put in cryostasis) but she was the lovechild of those two that ran Aperture. And to top it all off, the consciousness that became Glados is actually that of Caroline (the woman in the picture 1:19) so she's your mother haha
8:59 Not necessarily Terminator's Arm. Maybe Valve wants to show something in upcoming games?
Sorry for my english :) I'm learning it.
Paffcio it’s one of the co op robots arms
The radio found on that level has scrambled audio with a picture of a companion cube on the moon, possibly foreshadowing the ending amongst other things. That’s my favourite level in the game because of GLaDOS’ dialogue, the gameplay, the music, and that little secret.
Portal has wheatley while Half Life has Gman
10:18 In this room you can also hear the voice of Rat Mann approaching the wall with a painting of Chell and turrets but listen very much! :)
In the spanish translation of the game (that is from spain) i don't remember when but wheatley speaks spanish from argentina who is known for all the difference it has to spain spanish xD
Peppa because he is Brit and no American?
In the Spanish version he speaks English.
He says "You are using this software incorrectly. Please consult the manual."
I saw a video of multiple versions of that message in different languages. The messages were always either the Spanish or English translation of "You are using this translation tool incorrectly. Please consult the manual."
Peppa you are using the translation tool incorrectly please consult the manual
People already solved the radio thing, years ago. When it was added.
It's an SSTV (Slow Scan Television) signal. Essentially a very low resolution analog JPEG sent via soundwaves. Used for transmitting images via low-bandwidth radio.
(download) MMSSTV
how is this guy not at like 1 million or even 10 mil subs he makes absolute golden content.
0:50 that sound in the background scared me hard
How was that scary
Idk
Ah yes, the terrifying sound of indoor plumbing
When you first see the light bridge, where the white panel is with the bridge pointing at it, you can see through it and see Wheatley peaking at you
6:59 IT sounds like a SSTV transmision, kind of sending picturue
BonchartPL cuz it is!
In fact, the deciphered image shows a companion cube on moon, which spoils the ending.
(All because Wheatley got thrown into space)
Anyone wanting the image...

Just wanted to applaud you for highlighting stuff that was actually secret
The bell invites, hear the turret for it summons ___ to heaven or to hell.
The blank word is me. That quote was adopted from Shakespeare's Macbeth.
The radio noise is the sound of a picture which is of a companion cube on the moon from what i remember!
2:35 if she beat the tests GLaDOS would have set chell free so she made the turrets rehearse for whatever their part was in the song at the end of the game
big turret was instructor also portal guns error noise fits perfectly in it
duck off
And some games actually have Portal easter egg as well. In Minecraft older version, crafting a cake will give you an achievement called: “The Lie” which refer to the paper that says: “the cake is a lie”
Not that secret. But still an egg.
I died after seeing the name,
'WHEATNEY."
It's wheatley,
I love how you blatantly ignore Wheatly to chat it up with Different Turret.
GLaDOS:Oh well,to tell you...The cake is a LIE.
The cake is a black forest cake from Regent Bakery near the Valve offices.
6:26 not exactly a "code"
if you look at the audiograph its supposed to be a picture of a companion cube and a picture of the moon with he earth in the backround.
8:26 8:40 the turret is quoting cave johnson when he said "when life gives you lemons don't make lemonade"
this games music is like “please don’t touch anything” mixed with “deltarune”/“undertale”
I don't remember what kind of encryption it is BUT I'm pretty sure that that's the radio that - when decoded - shows a picture of the companion cube on the moon
And it's not shown in the video, but the full dialogue from the Oracle Turret is "I'm different.
Hey, you are missing a lot of information in this video buddy, but nice video anyway
6:18 Secret is this is old NASA coding sequence for imaging. In the old days moon photos send by a sound frequency so in the Earth could hear it and decompile as image so we can see nice pictures of moon from surface. Use a special sound sequencer to decompile image.
Try sticking the radio noise in a spectrograph...
The radio sound at 6:19 is an SSTV transmit. I couldn't get an effective picture off of it from this video because the header was obscured by GLaDOS talking.
