15 years later and I still cannot get enough of this game and its universe
Portal 2 is my favourite game in the Half Life series (it counts they're in the same universe)
and i still didnt finish half life 2. Thinking about playing it again but it bores me in the beginning for some reason.. Tell me, should i play it again?

Easter eggs are so creepy. For some reason, Half Life eggs are even creepier than usual though. I think because you're alone all the time.

In "Water Hazard", one of the safe spots, there is a large drainpipe. Coming close to it gives you this creepy ambience, and if you enter it, you are rewarded with a zombie jumping out of the water at you to give you a heart attack! There is also a health crate.

There is a hilarious coincidence with the voice over of burning zombies. That nonsense they are screaming (taking non-reversed version), in the Russian language sounds like "ебать, больно!" (jebat, bolna), which means "It f*cking hurts!" :)

also G man appears for split second (I think only for one frame) In the big screen when Eli acts to feel ill to get Alyx out of the room. This Easter egg is weird, as after that Eli speaks about the mutual friend, which further proves he was visited by G-man

In Eli's lab, the vortigaunt speaking with Eli places a device in a machinery that has a visible yellow spot. If you look closely inside that certain spot (using zoom for instance), you'll see a blurry face, the Gman. This might be the rarest sighting and the easiest to miss because it's so hard to notice. I suggest no-clipping or using Gmod to view it properly.
Half Life 2 has a very special place in my heart as it was the first game I played coming out of the 8bit era.

you can take dog's ball with you to ravenholm and the zombies will fight with it. works good as a distraction, the enemies seem to see the ball as a more important target. dog's ball just seems to be a roller mine that has its weapon disabled, and it's funny to watch, as it will still try to attack the zombies

Man...I remember hearing that radio sound for the Gman sighting in Chapter 11.
I searched around a bit using the directional audio and just couldn't help but crack a smile when I saw the screen go black once you laid eyes on it. I reloaded a few times to catch with what I guessed was some black bird over his shoulder. Super spooky!
Also, I missed a number of these secrets/easter eggs listed here tho. Thanks for sharing!

The doll at 10:35 makes another appearance in the game. Can't remember where, but I think it's in the "follow Freeman" level. I just beat the game (15 mins ago) and remember seeing this doll for the second time and thought it was a bit odd. If I remember correctly I believe its in an elevator that doesn't work and it's against a brief case or something like that. I wonder if it makes any more appearances in the game? 🤔
because its the same place, just different timing. i remember throwing that doll in the middle of the big road where rebels take down the tv, it was still there when i got there later in the game.

i just saved and left my game to watch this after seeing tv G-man and entered a elevator seeing it (its in anticitizen one)
its when you go back to city 17, where you start and where you find it for the first time.
A few extra ones you didn't cover:
- In 'Water Hazard' there are five skulls placed throughout the chapter. The Half Life 2 manual specifically mentions these and challenges you to find them.
- In 'Route Kanal' there is a hidden vent with a random battery in it. DeSinc's "HL2 Secret Vent Exploration" covers this.
- Whenever you die with a squad following, members of said squad will shout out various lines like "Do not go towards the light!" and "I got dibs on his suit"
There's also tons of out-of-bounds oddities, like a random Combine soldier standing in the void in 'Route Kanal', or how in 'Entanglement' the screen that Judith Mossman is looking at actually displays a still image of Dr. Breen, despite the fact we never see it.
The first time I ever played Half-Life 2, I found #1 on accident! I thought I was going the right way hahaha

There is another G-man appearance that no one seems to mention in any way... i found it while re playing the game today... just when the teleport with Eli and Giudit is at it's peak , thw two disappear and i'm pretty sure that only g-man remains for an instant.. need to confirm that again.

Regardless of how much you put in the mini teleporters, even if you just use the cactus it still bugs out and disappears. Kinda eerie when you first play and then realize you're about to step into one, lol foreshadowing. Also that creature you see in the lake when teleporting is a beast from the first game.

I found the propeller because I turned that decapitation machine on - it begins spinning, but then the blade flies off. It works well with the gravity gun, but it's a bit difficult to retrieve.

Something funny, is that when you jump from the hovercraft from the water dam, if you look fast, behind the black mesa base, you will see Ravenholm, destroyed, but you will see, it's what I like about half life, it has incredible details...

I remember being thoroughly scared shitless when I Forster played ravenholm back in 2007. Now it’s comforting to play these day. Reminds me of simpler times. Still creeps me out tho

He showed when it plays, although strangely it didn't. It's when you find the TV with G Man on it. When it shuts off it plays that sound, although both it and the sax loop are well known stock music pieces.

Doesnt matter, what are people that haven't beaten the game doing here in the first place?
I'm pretty sure the trap propeller falls off by itself when you attempt to use the trap like you normally would. I specifically remember this being a pretty bad WTF moment when I ran for the trap with tons of zombies around and it just goes FUBAR on me. And the mini-teleporter will blow up just from using it too many times, no matter how much stuff you put into it.
The zombie reverse screams, are actually pretty clever, it makes me wonder if valve was actually going to use this scream on the citizens, but scrapped it, but then again later found out what it sounded like it reverse, and found it to be perfect for the zombies.

One thing you forgot to mention; there's another easter egg in Water Hazard in the first area, right next to the barn with the first G-man sighting of that chapter. There is a face on one of the houses in the back, it's easy to miss but you can either see it from the outside or from the furthest window on the inside on the right.

Theres actually four easter eggs of the couple, in one of the maps, theres two skeletons in a house, on a couch, holding eachother, which means the couple finally died and got (probably) eaten by the zombies, and left there, (or its something else, idk)

Wasn’t the Half Life engine the first to use such physics in a game? This series is creepy, timeless, and a lot of fun. I go back again and again just to explore every corner of every scene. So rich in detail with a perfect blend of graphics, sound effects, voice acting, storyline, and jump scares. And Portal is my favorite puzzle game. Thanks for this fun reveal!

Nicely put together video, my man! One thing though: there is an easter egg that I don't think anybody has noticed, remember the Nuke that went off in Opposing Force? Well, that's referenced in Black Mesa East believe it or not, on the clipboard, there is a large darkened oval in the desert with a red circle around it and I think that is what's left and Black Mesa, not many people noticed it.

So - no mentioning of the pike you can collect whilst you climb up to Nova Prospect. It's a bugger to carry it around throughout the entire level but you can gravity-gun-shoot it to impale the antlion guard.

Just finished HL2 for the first time in many years. Now off to episode 1. I recently noticed that HL2 and all of the episodes including lost coast cost only $2 on steam. Freaking bargain!!!! So now im re living the legendary game play. I remember back then i could not play on max graphics. My 1050TI is doing a great job rendering this game at 60fps with the graphics maxed. Im amazed how good the graphics are for a game that came out in 2004

There is actually one more G man appearance,it's in the Revenholm.it's rather hard to see (maybe even impossible without cheats),but he is watching you from the window.There is darkness inside this window so you can only see him if you use a flashlight.

You find a loose one earlier in one of the first few parts of ravenholm (before you meet grigory).

In chapter 5 (black mesa east) when you go down to the lab where Eli is found, if you take a closer look at the thing where the vortigaunt puts in something, and turn up the brightness, you can see Gman's face! It's realy hard to find, but trust me, it exists.

The doll/x-file one isn't one not because of the doll but because those "UFO sounds " are actually from the flying cameras that take your picture and blind you temporarily they can be found throughout the game
the strange sounds are children screaming, not the surveillance drone, you'll hear it if you listen carefully
Best game ever , long hours spent playing this game , lots of fun . Guess we will never have Half-Life 2 episode 3 that takes you ( Freeman ) to the Borealis since that needs to be done before making a Half-Life 3 game to understand the storyline . Sadly the wait is too long true fans stopped to dream about a new game , and the graphics changed too much nowadays so it is best to never make a new Half-Life game anymore . Also the crew who made the game are older now and they surely are bored about the Half-Life hype imo .

you missed the ending party where they show the borealis, at the top of the boat it says "Aperture" which was the company that was in the game Portal, they also showed a Borealis themed Life Saver in portal 2 when wheatley punched you down a deadly pit

One Easter egg is that after the "slow teleport" you are told to meet up with Barney, but if you wait long enough then you can hear Dr. Kliner say "great scott!"

What everyone overlooked is that most of the Valve games weren't their own at first. They just took it once they saw potential in it. Currently there are two big community projects being done. And i can see Valve taking either or both as their own, and adding something "breathtaking" into it. Like the devs mentioned, even Gabe him self. They want to show us something, we've never seen before. Because Valve likes doing technology leaps, like they did with Half Life 2. Which was ahead of it's time. We can expect they are waiting for some kind of new tech akin to VR, that they can put into "their" next game, which would seem to be Episode 3. The secrecy only proves my theory. They won't spill valuable information, since it has been stolen from them in the past.
