Thanks for sharing your experience. I had the exact same issue with the exact same buttons. I dismantled the entire control panel unit and initially suspected that it was oxidization on the cable ribbon or that I had to replace the control panel unit. I did not have any success on the cable ribbon cleaning, but this video gave me confidence in ordering the control panel as well as understanding what caused the issue.

Thanks for the video. My vent fan, more options, Rapid preheat, clean, convect and setup buttons quit working. After months of sitting on the replacement price I finally replaced the panel and door seal. Now a search for the keypad so I can build a spare.

The damage may also be due to a design defect in not having an effective heat shield for the control panel. These ovens were designed to allow the oven door to remain open in a detent position such that the top of the door can be set to about a 5 inch opening when broiling. Since broiling is a high heat situation, the bottom side of the control panel is exposed to this heat while broiling.

We've had ours for over 20 years and never had oven or control panel issues until we recently started to use the self-cleaning feature. In the past year, we've had to replace the oven igniter and control panel, and fix the oven door..

I am going to make an aluminum heat shield, try it, then use the screw holes under cpanel, above door top edge, to fasten shield.

Is it possible to repair the touch? If it's just the inner layer preventing continuity can you not fix it?

Terrible product. All Jen air products should last you no more than 6 years, are costly to repair and customer service is atrocious

I'm not an oven engineer, but if I were, I'd probably think twice before designing a $350 electronic oven component that is vulnerable to moderate heat exposure. Just seems like common sense to me. SMH.

Mike Walsh - my oven warped the first time I did the self-clean and they refused to fix. The walls bowed outward and wouldn’t hold the racks.

Jenn Air ovens SUCK! Anyone who designs an OVEN with touch ELECTRONIC keypad but doesn’t understand that HEAT will DESTROY electronic components, needs to find another line of work. Jenn Air REFUSES to acknowledge they have a problem and ovens should be RECALLED!

So my wife and I bought a house and this brand/possibly same make of stove/oven is coming with it. The keypad panel doesn't work like what you showed in the video. I'm planning on fixing it myself. Replacing the fiberglass gasket seems pretty easy and I did find one online at HD. If the door to the oven might be contributing to melting the panel how would one correct it? Would I be better off ordering those hinges? Is there an aftermarket gasket other than the fiberglass one that I could use to double seal it so that heat doesn't escape?

I had the same problem....the left side of the control module didn't function. I turned OFF the electrical breaker, waited about 15 seconds, then switched it back on. That reset the control module and the functions all work. I was ready to buy a new stove....so, try that first.....

I realized the left side of my control panel stopped working and called for a quote. I was quoted $378.88 to replace the control panel (parts and labor). I told him I needed to think about it since my oven is 10yrs old. I quickly searched "replace control panel on JennAir stove" and this WORKED! Thank you for posting!

Had this problem - with an apple pie waiting to go into the oven to bake, we used this and it worked great. Thanks for posting.

The range is garbage I have had multiple problems, from ignitor not turning off to gas continuing to cycle on and off every 5 seconds. Glass door failure. Wires were frayed

Not a bad design, not all units have your probs. Mine has the heat issue causing touch prob, then incessant beep.

Excellent detective work my friend. I've never thought to look for a hinge bulge on the door before. Will this require a new inner door panel and/or hinges or just new hinges? Thanks

I have the hinge bulge on both sides. I successfully followed this tip from Scottthefixitguy: ruclips.net/video/D37YLfWpPpk/видео.html

I have the same problem with a now 12 year old downdraft electric jenn-air that has the same touchpad. I have loved this cooktop and it has worked flawlessly for 12 years despite the negative comments. I cannot find the part online for nothing. Where did you find it? I would replace it myself

Exact same problem and great answer but next step is what I need. So the Answer is to call Whirlpool?

Tess Dey , exactly, I can replace the gasket, and I can see if the door is off kilter, but I still need to gain back the numbers on the touch pad. Many things require higher temps than the auto Bake options 350 and 375.

sounds like dirt or separated, as he said. many youtubers report that cleaning works, and these probs beg for a diy heat shield between cpanel and oven door

Our range front panel no longer has the indicator markings at each knob. We cannot see, only guess, which knob is for what burner. The same is with the heating levels for each burner - gone. It is a poor design and application feature. Instead of press type markings, should be etched on or a more permanent application so the markings don't wear off.

I replaced the Control panel several years ago. Now it is out again. I love the range and hate to replace it. A comparable one is thousands of dollars. A new panel has gone up to $400. Still cheaper than a new range... Dilemma!!! I've had the range for 15 years!!! I do not want to fork out 5-7K for a new one!!! I wonder if a new panel will have a warranty?

No, they don't sell that keypad membrane part separately. Only as part of the whole control panel unit, $300+. Switch it out and then do a couple things to keep the keypad membrane and ribbon cable from being exposed to so much heat from the oven. I'm going to try to fab a heat shield under the lip above the oven door, and maybe also peel off the membrane and put a silicone backing pad behind it. I'm about to be on my 3rd keypad. Only putting up with this BS because replacements seem to be about $3000 and aren't really any better. Plus now I've learned how to work on this thing. It is a POS, but when it works, it's decent enough, better bet than spending $3,000 or $5,000 on something else that may also turn out to be a POS.

So, tell me this, you demonstrated a door out of alignment and you've demonstrated a keypad that is not functioning 100%. And you've alluded to what may be the cause of the identified the non-functioning numbers on the keypad. But, you haven't provided your discovery of what it was and more importantly how it was fixed, if indeed it was fixed. Did you call the service man in? Did you fix it yourself? Would have made this video useful. As it is the only thing this video has done is demonstrate that you and I have similar ranges with the exact same problem.

Totally agree with you. He shows no resolution on why the buttons stopped and how the buttons was repaired. Basically what I got out of this and all the comments was to get rid of it and buy another brand.
