Does everyone remember being in the cinema as a kid and first seeing Donphan and thinking "oh my god it's a new Pokémon!". You just expect new Pokémon as standard today... but back then, it was just something else. Kids just won't know what it felt like. All we had was 151 you see!

According to the book, it was Bubblebeam. Bulbasaur used Solarbeam (obviously), Squirtle used Bubblebeam and Pikachu used Thunderbolt
This was my very first movie I had ever seen in theaters. I had a medium popcorn, a blue raspberry slushie and my shiny holographic ancient mew card. My grandparents were the best since they absolutely had no clue what the fuck was going on in that movie but could see how excited I was in my seat watching every minute of it.

Might be the best "movie version" of any tv theme song... ever. I remember being 13 and watching the movie in theaters and just being like "OMG YAAAAASSSSSSSS! THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!!" The first movie will always be the best! With 2 and 3 following.

Seriously, I grew up waking up at 5am just to watch Pokémon before catching the bus to school. Begging for the old booster packs so I could show off to the other kids on the bus, playing through Pokémon silver countless times. Hell getting stuck, and begging to go to the game section at Walmart to read the guides while your parents shopped so you could figure out what to do next. Just listening to this and the other older soundtracks brought back so many memories, I can still sing the old songs word for word despite not hearing them for over 10 years. It was like a nostalgia overload. Most of the comments on the other videos are locked, and that blows. I’m sure there are tons of people that want to comment, that feel like kids again listening to these older soundtracks.

I loved the remake. While it won't compare to the original, the fact that some of thenold actors came back to reprise thier roles AND used some of the original lines. It was a darn good remake.

Pokemon was the highlight of my childhood! Collection the cards, playing the games, watching the anime and moves! I am re watching the movies to see how they evolved into the greatness it is today. But nothing came beat the original tv show and movies!

I was only 2 years old when this movie came out so I wasn't able to see it in theaters. The things I would do to be able to go back in time to watch the first 3 Pokémon movies in theaters as a kid. That would've made my entire childhood right there.
I wasn't even in the theatres when I first saw it as a kid (I was born in 1996... just a little too young), but honestly the excitement when you see a movie like that when you're that young, it's that emotionally powerful that I felt like I had the same atmosphere even just watching it at home. Kid shows (and other things like video games) back then just filled you with this incredible hype that kids today wouldn't understand at all, lol
I actually feel kinda sad for kids of today's generation. There aren't really any strong franchises for kids these days, at least like, when it comes to TV shows and cartoons (and honestly even video games). Kids will end up liking whatever they like but there really isn't anything as powerful as the fads of the 90s... pokemon, power rangers. I was more of an early 2000s kid so i had that stuff (I had older brothers) but then I also grew up with all the cool shit on gamecube... the Sonic Adventure games, etc.
Nowadays what do kids have? Garbage nickelodeon sitcoms, fortnite, copy-paste sequels to games with no soul or creativity, cartoons that are animated worse than early flash animations. They will never understand the creativity and the power of the things we experienced in the 90s and the early 2000s. I feel like kids today deserve their own equivalent for the stuff that we had, but they will never get it. Thank god I'm as old as I am lol. Everyone's like "omg i hate being old" but like, think about what you had that kids today have to miss out on

I remember literally all of this. The whole theater was singing part of this song and we were all so hyped and some of us were like “woah!!!” When we saw Donphan. “You see kids back in my day we only had 151 Pokémon” it was so amazing seeing a Pokémon haven’t been released in game yet until gold and silver I did catch a Donphan when I heard it was in the game so I grabbed my silver copy and started searching. I didn’t see a Donphan but I did get a phanphy which I evolved. (Ps there are over 1000 pokemon crazy right?)

The original TV theme will always have a special place in my heart but the theme for the first movie was really good and got you pumped up for it.

Fall of 2023 and I can’t believe it. Still remember being a kid and watching this growing up !
Fuck.I'm fighting back the tears because this is so great. The nostalgia is so strong.
I remember it was Friday night. All my homework was done and my dad dropped my sister and I off at our local theater. He gave me $30.50 (50 cent was to call home once we were ready). We waited in line to buy tickets and shared a large popcorn and soda. Once we got inside our theater, it was 90% filled with people we knew from friends from school to neighborhood kids. We called out the names of every Pokémon during the opening battle, except Donphan, where we heard some mumbling that it was the evolved form of snorlax. When we were done I called my dad to pick us up. When he did he told us not to tell mom about this as she thought cartoons were only for babies but he felt bad for us so he snuck us out to allow us to watch the movie.
My father passed away 4 years later from sudden illness and one of the biggest regrets I ever had was never being able to thank him for being a great dad and for allowing me to live a normal childhood. This movie was mediocre but it’s the memories that I cherish more than the film itself. RIP pops.

HAPPY 20TH POKEMON and to everyone that had the privelege to experience all the o.g movies and stuff when they came out, THANKS FOR ALL THE MEMORIES. From being a kid watching pokemon in his grandmas room with his brother to a teenager and now a young adult. One thing will never change though.... I will always be a kid inside because of pokemon.

I would spend my entire summer in the province watching its third season on a CD my mother bought back in 2008 along with my gameboy advanced armed with nothing but Pokemon FireRed and Emerald. Back then no smartphones, no WiFi, no toxicity in social media. Just a kid spending time with relatives in the countryside and genuinely enjoying it. Those were the days. Nowadays, kids can't appreciate these kinds of shows due to the presence of numerous channels of media. Yeah, they gain information at a speed we could only dream of achieving in the past but at what cost? That I'll let you answer on your own.

I donno about still liking it. I want to like it again but I don't I tried watching this again as well as Yugioh and I could deal with it. I used to love both of those shows but i'm too old for them now. The early episodes of yugioh are especially annoying. Every two seconds someone says i'l play this card and it will kill your card "IN JUST ONE BLOW". Meanwhile i'm like...... the cards don't have damage counters they ALWAYS die in one blow.
This is a tough pill to swallow. Ash leaving means he accomplished his goals and is growing up.. Along with the fans who grew up with him.
