There were planning on only staying there for a few years because they weren’t crazy about the area. So they knew this was just a temporary time for them anyway.

My daughter got married on June 13. It was supposed to be a big wedding and got cut down to 25 people in her backyard. My anxiety was in overdrive for the 3 months leading up to it. Moving is stressful but you seen very calm and very organized with it. Best of luck to your family.
Kimmy you are a pillar of strength...it has been a crazy year and a lot of changes and different challenges ...it's definitely tested my faith and to be honest...it's worn me out, a lot. ....but with that I have found a new strength..and it somehow feels stronger most days, and letting go and letting God has been so very helpful for me... You and yours are in my prayers and our Heavenly Father has great things in store for you!
The last time we moved into this house, which is only a couple of towns from out old house. I just took the dresser drawers out and put them in the car. I would pack up boxes of stuff and when my husband got off work, we would take them to the new house unpack, and take the boxes back to pack more stuff. I loved being able to bring our kitchen stuff over slowly and be able to decide where I wanted things.
Yes 2020 has been quite the year. Excited for you and your family. Change is scary, but not changing is even scarier. So glad that you’re doing what is right for your family. We were getting ready to start packing up for a move to another state, then got an unexpected offer to stay where we are. After much prayer and thought with the kids my daughter and I decided to stay. After having moved so much as military family, was tired of moving but was willing to for them. Now, we have shifted from pack and move mode to fixing, repairing, and updating for us. Good luck with your move and for your future plans.
We moved into our “dream home” six months ago. I put it quotations because it’s 4000sq ft and I’m realizing it’s so much work to keep it clean with 5 kids and I’m more overwhelmed than I was in a smaller house. Hindsight is 20/20. I’m grateful but I realize I may have bit off more than I can chew. Hope your move goes smoothly, and excited for y’all!!
Amy, I so understand! I had a rather big house (coming from apartment living in Germany) when we moved to the states. I had my son and opened an in home daycare. I think we had 2000sqft... and working daycare hours and new born and that house oh and a dog... lol I was overwhelmed to no end! I think Kimmy is a great resource and the fly lady(zone cleaning), maybe the secret slob if you haven’t seen her yet. They all have great tips for making the home making more doable. What I have found is that dipping into minimalism reeeeeeally helps in terms of cleaning up... if you don’t have so much stuff, it can’t be laying around to clean... lol Maybe make a bunch of space in the house a “blocked “ zone? So the mess doesn’t get spread out? I can also recommend robot vacuums... they do some of the work for you(I love our shark robot) In general it takes a year(I have found) to figure out stuff in a house(we moved like 7 times altogether) and then maybe it’ll start to feel better for you aswell. Be kind to yourself. And maybe get some help every now and then(if you can afford it)
Sarah Girard thanks for the tips. I have started using the fly lady method and it helps manage all of my daily tasks better. I am very minimalist which has helped I’m sure. Blocking off certain rooms is a good idea, my kids have a game room and family room so maybe I’ll block off our formal sitting and dining rooms. Great idea! It just makes me think of the movie Drop Dead Fred where the mom blocked off the sitting room with a velvet rope🤣. I have been looking into robot vacuums and I’m sure not constantly sweeping and vacuuming will give me extra time to get other things done. Really appreciate the feedback, it can be really overwhelming sometimes. I thought I was a pro until we moved into this house and now I find myself feeling like I never finish everything I need to in a day. But I’m sure I’ll figure it out!😉
I hate moving clothes on hangers so here is the best idea ever for moving hanging clothes. Take a trash bag I use drawstring tall kitchen bags while clothes are hanging in closet start from the bottom and put clothes in bag then crisscross the drawstrings over the hangers easy to carry and you want have clothes falling off hangers anymore. Really works 😀

I am a moving pro LOL! I think I have moved about 12 times over the years. And we are on the move again. Hopefully the final stretch. We are building a house on the lake but it’s not quite ready yet. Our house sold in less than a week and we are moving into a rental apartment for now...but we have to be out of the house in less than three weeks! Talk about stress LOL! But it is what it is. Just relax and go with the flow. At least you have time to transition to the new place which is such a blessing.
I agree when decluttering the kitchen the hardest part is to get rid of the things small appliances and dishes. They take up some more room but I use them. Not everyday but I definitely us them! Lol I wish y’all the very best in what your future plans are. Working towards your goals! You can do it!

I grew up in the military, married into it and when my husband retired after 25 years we bought a house. I will NEVER move again. I tell my husband if he wants to sale the house I come with the house. I absolutely hate packing and moving. Have never had a good experience with military movers.

It is such a blessing to have in-laws like that. When we built our house 7 years ago, my in-laws turned their unattached garage into an apartment for us. It worked perfectly, my son and daughter each had their own rooms and so did we, plus we had our tub and shower and kitchen stuff since we tore down our old house. It was such a blessing!

My parents let me & my family move in with them until we got out trailer that we were moving in next door to my grandparents so I could help take care of them. All 4 of them & my aunt are gone now. We stayed with my parents until we got our home set up. We live in Belton South Carolina.
I need to send my three kids over to all your houses!! They can move an entire house in 9 hours! They have done it and the two oldest just only driving for a couple of years. I went to work one morning and when I came home that evening they had moved everything!

Always exciting when you decide to move and it’s happening. Like you can’t wait to get it over with. From experience, I learn to pack boxes. I tried the “moving lots of stuff ourselves over 1 week” and honestly we end up with a sore back and way more trips than we thought. And wished we had the movers do it.

If you use raw pasta (not frozen) add 1 cup of water to pan and cover with foil. Bake 1 hour. Works like a charm. Lasagna, manicotti, stuffed shells - it all works!
I can't even tell you why, since we aren't moving, but you cheered me up so much! At the end when you talked about this being a weird year made my anxiety level drop....I know we all have this 'stuff' to deal with, but I guess it is just the way you said it made me feel so much better! Kimmie - I hope your move goes well! I know neighborhoods can look good on the surface, but have problems. I had that in Cincinnati when I worked there and then moved to the 'burbs in a nice area. The only drawback was the fireworks at King's Island Amusement park 3 miles away that had loud fireworks nightly at 10pm! LOL! Hang in there! Megga hugs to you and Deric!!!

Good luck with the move ! Mine is next month, I'm getting good at it as it will be my 13th move and I'm 39 ;) But it's still quite stressful because of all the little things we donate or trash... I'm definitely saying bye-bye to a lot of things as well ! I'm buying so I'm getting rid of all the cheap renting friendly shabby pieces of fourniture and will buy what and if we need better quality pieces.
We actually thinking about doing something similar. Not move with a set of parents but into the house they have that is empty. Definitely downgrade but it would help financially towards our investments or forever home plans. I'm not very excited about like you are though but it's doable.
It will be fun to see how you handle living with parents. How chores and meals are split or if you just plan to live separately etc. I think so many people are in that situation right now and will love to see how you make it work with out stressing your relationship with them.

I'm confused and will sound negative. You seen how the neighborhood looked before you moved in. So...... It has to be more than the house are close 🤷. But hey you need to be happy. I've lived in a city setting my while life and I'm use to it and have owned my home for 14 yrs and some days want to move for land and others days can't imagine packing my house hahaha. Kimmie - I hope your move goes well! I know neighborhoods can look good on the surface, but have problems. I had that in Cincinnati when I worked there and then moved to the 'burbs in a nice area. The only drawback was the fireworks at King's Island Amusement park 3 miles away that had loud fireworks nightly at 10pm! LOL! Hang in there! Megga hugs to you and Deric!!!

Sleeve trash bags over the hanging items and put the handle loops over the top of the hangers 👍🏻 best thing I did when I moved my closet.

But it's still quite stressful because of all the little things we donate or trash... I'm definitely saying bye-bye to a lot of things as well ! I'm buying so I'm getting rid of all the cheap renting friendly shabby pieces of fourniture and will buy what and if we need better quality pieces.

We actually thinking about doing something similar. Not move with a set of parents but into the house they have that is empty. Definitely downgrade but it would help financially towards our investments or forever home plans. I'm not very excited about like you are though but it's doable.

It will be fun to see how you handle living with parents. How chores and meals are split or if you just plan to live separately etc. I think so many people are in that situation right now and will love to see how you make it work with out stressing your relationship with them.
We’re in our own apartment bellow their home so we won’t be sharing a kitchen or anything like that.
Try adding thawed, drained frozen spinach in your ricotta mixture. It sneakily adds some veggies in the lasagna.

I'm confused and will sound negative. You seen how the neighborhood looked before you moved in. So...... It has to be more than the house are close 🤷. But hey you need to be happy. I've lived in a city setting my while life and I'm use to it and have owned my home for 14 yrs and some days want to move for land and others days can't imagine packing my house hahaha.
