Everyone knew he had talent with bat but he was supposed to fill the shoes of Shane Warne. I remember how he was much hyped as the next Shane Warne. If Waugh indeed said that then hats off to him, he is a good judge of talent.

But he plays down the order just becoz there is no room for him at top.. Somehow he shows his talent and became best test batsman in this generation

    Smith's journey from someone who can bat a bit to one of the best batsman of his generation is admirable. The transition from a bowling all rounder to such a class act is really difficult to achieve because successful batsmen work from a very young age to get everything right in their batting.

      @@harsha1989able Very true, his leggies are good and it's sad but understandable when they took a backseat when he decided to go all in on his batting. Labuschagne is uncannily similar, but if anything I think his leggies will end up even better. They are already quite handy! He gives the ball a rip & isn't too loose either.

    Tribute to the legendary cricketer of this modern era and his name is Steve Smith.He used to smash the cut shot on the on-side very often but now he has changed his technique with the perception of pure shots through the covers.His test average was 22 in 2011 and in 2019 currently is 66.

    No. 7 8 are pretty surprising positions for Aussie side. Gilchrist started his career batting at 7 later opened the innings, Watson was no. 7 bowling allrounder later became opener. Smith introduced at no.7 as young talent almost spin option allrounder and now he's bossing the glorious game of test match cricket.
