I'd say right now, MCU TV kicks Arrowverse's ass. Except for The Inhumans, the worst Marvel TV show is Iron Fist, which is still on par with Legends of Tomorrow. Book-wise, Marvel has put out too many cross-overs over the last couple of decades and has become stagnant, not to mention it never had its own Vertigo. Animation-wise, Marvel has always been too safe comparing to DC, even during the 90's, the X-Men cartoon was still second to the BAS.
I'd wholeheartedly disagree. Sharon Carter was slow to find its rhythm and got canceled before its time, and if you got passed the first half of the first season, AoS has continuously improved season by season, which is a rarity in itself. The current season especially is so much better than anything the Arrowverse has right now. I'd say the only good DC show right now is Gotham (I also like Lucifer, but I like the original comics much more), Arrow has shown its age since season 4, and Flash since 2. The Runaways is also very well done, improving on a already excellent comic. The Gifted (X-Men, but still, Marvel) also surprised me. In term of quality, I think both are comparable to the first season of Arrow.
I thought the movie was great and well-plotted out. The only complaint that I have was that the ending felt abrupt like how you said it. They should have added an extra scene at the end to properly conclude the movie.
Yeah, this screams "production cut short" problems. You can almost imagine the missing scene: "A few days later, in broad daylight, Bruce and Selina stand in the middle of the world fair being reconstructed, while Dick says something about how the new version pays more attention to the poor and downtrodden. Bruce and Selina make a speech where they announce new founding to the orphanage or something. Then the last plan shows them kissing, and zooms out to show the fair, the city, looking to the future. THE END"
I would have also thrown in a few teasers to future villains to appear in this world, like a new madman who leaves a particular calling card behind with his victims wearing horrible huge smiles, or a criminal master mind who sends riddles to the police about his next crime. Just to imply that the Batman's work is not done and leave room for a potential sequel.
@@VulcanGray I don't get it either honestly. Pretty much every DC film since the new 52 adaptions have looked cheaply produced and lazily plotted; especially compared to the JLU which released more high quality episodes per year than the current DCAU for the past decade.
I have respect Bruce Timm soo I'm wonder why he can't go back and work with Paul Dini? Don't get me wrong I looved this movie , but again it was done without Paul Dini and I feel Bruce Timm would get a lot of success if Paul Dini was involved.
Spoilers!!!!!!! Spoilers!!!!! Don't see the comment if you don't want to spoil your movie And I suggest you to go watch this movie before see this comment. So the movie was pretty nice and jack the ripper was Jim Gordon!!! Omg I couldn't even imagine that!!! Also,at the end it was very nice that they put all the characters together( Dick, Jason, Tim, Selena, Alfred and Bruce) and kept their personalities! And at the end Batman adopted all of the children and stayed with Selena Kyle!!! So nice ending and a very good plot twist!!!! Great movie!!!
I have just watched the movie and it was amazing!!! I really liked that the movie showed Batman's detective skills( because he hasn't all that tech in that century)! And also the plot twist for who the jack the ripper is amazing!!! Seriously you will not even imagine who the jack the ripper is!!! I am not saying more.
I think this would also be a good time to talk about the gotham by gaslight game. That was pretty much the prototype to the creation of the arkham games.
Good review, I'm going to watch this movie soon. When I heard the name Anthony Stewart Head, I also instantly thought "Giles from Buffy: the Vampire Slayer" too. LoL. That's one show that definitely deserves a sequel or at least an updated remake (along w/ Xena). They are what heroines should be, especially in this supper SJW climate.
spoiler: the ripper isn't joker or harvey dent. in the original he was a family friend of the waynes (how many more friends of the waynes are gonna become evil?) but i won't reveal it though HINT: it's someone who's very close to batman.
I didn't think that I would like it so much!! It certainly didn't disappointed me.. The only thing that bothered me a little was the ending (it was a bit "quick") but other than that.. Really good movie!
Let me start by saying i loved the original comic, not so much the sequal. I felt the sequal was more a piece to keep making them. In the first comic, Batman caught his parents killer so why continue to be Batman and the sequal was an excuse to give him a reason and it could have been better. I thought a second better story would be to introduce Dent and have him be a Jekyll and Hyde type character, since that is what two-face is, but instead of half his face being scarred he could transform like jekyll into his alter ego giving him literally 2 faces. As far as the movie goes i enjoyed it thoroughly. I felt the addition of adding other dc characters set up the possibility of more movies, i just hope they keep it darker much the this movie and the first comic and not the 2nd comic. My only true misgiving was the twist and that was for 2 reasons. The first was the motivation behind the Rippers killings. The motivation provided would allow him to kill but not the antagonizing the police or cannabilism he alluded to in the letter. Second was the fact that they used an existing DC character to be the ripper. They could have easily introduced mutliple new characters into the universe including Jacob Packer, so then when it turned out to be someone other than Packer it would have been a surprise. Personally i would have had a background character who was seen at the club, at ivy's dance, the fair announcement but given no lines or focus and that would have also given Batman much more detective work to do to find the killer and make a longer movie. Using an existing DC character just seems lazy and using the one they did use was just for shock value, again lazy. But overall i felt the movie was really good and like the comic i will probably watch it many times.
Loved GbG, but there weren't enough characters to guess who Jack was, I was thinking the whole time "well it's either the red herring or the other guy". I thought there would have been more rogue gallery cameos than what we got. Also there were a couple scenes that were very similar to Mask of the Phantasm.
Not gonna lie, I kind of want a sequel fleshing out the idea of a Victorian Gotham and continuing Batman's career in the era. Like imagine Batman going after Sweeney Todd and teaming up with Sherlock Holmes (but make it serious), you can even throw in nods to other famous characters by having Bruce Wayne rub elbows with people like Mr Darcy and Ebeneezer Scrooge.
Darth Sidious an old family friend of the Waynes, Jacob Packer. Packer was a med student with Thomas Wayne before giving up on medicine and becoming a lawyer, all on Wayne's dime. He was also in love with Martha and when she rejected him in favor of Thomas he went mad, eventually leading him to hire the highwayman that killed them. He also killed women, as the ripper, that reminded him of Martha and would cause him to hear her "laughter" at his advances spurned causing his aggression and homicidal tendencies.
I'm a big fan of Gaslight, great film It's funny how Marvel have become conglomerates in movies, but DC is still kicking their FAT ARSES in animation (if you get the reference, then good for you)
I pretty much got the identity of Jack after their first fight, and it was made clearer later on. However, I really don't like this change. Overall, the movie is only marginally better than the last two outings. Harley Quinn at least had a few chuckles.
first If they cared so much they would of watched the movie already, and second it was super obvious, try paying attention to movies not just being a mindless drone.
LOL Jack the Ripper? I'm guessing all the other super heroes rip on Batman for having the easiest and dumbest villains. Jack the Ripper was a loser who picked on vulnerable people like women who were alone... Probably the dumbest villain in a superhero movie yet.
I freaking love Gotham By Gaslight. And its a pretty great adaptation of the original comic too IMO!!!! :)
I love how they added the first 3 robins in the movie. I really liked it.
DC animation kicks Marvel's ass in animated and some TV shows but cinema eeehhhhh sorry DC
soullessleaf 578 I guess DC needs at least 1 win over marvel
jalen tyler definitely

Yes the background music is back

The only sad thing related to Gotham by Gaslight was that the game was cancelled
Tom McDaniel Yeah, but it may come back some day
jalen tyler that would be awesome if it did come back like Star fox 2 on the SNES Classic
Best Batman movie I’ve seen in a long time
DC Animation hits a home run.
Darth Stalker ikr
What? How?! It looks worse than any episode of the show! The animation is more like a slideshow.
@@VulcanGray I don't get it either honestly. Pretty much every DC film since the new 52 adaptions have looked cheaply produced and lazily plotted; especially compared to the JLU which released more high quality episodes per year than the current DCAU for the past decade.
This was actually pretty good
This and Battle For The Cowl are my favorite Batman stories
I have respect Bruce Timm soo I'm wonder why he can't go back and work with Paul Dini? Don't get me wrong I looved this movie , but again it was done without Paul Dini and I feel Bruce Timm would get a lot of success if Paul Dini was involved.

Hopefully long Halloween will be next
Tiger Macc yesssssssssssssss
Tiger Macc hopefully we stop having Batman movies and focus on other characters
Maybe then the War of Jokes & Riddles, or Hush, or even Dark Nights Metal. The possibilities are endless.
I have just watched the movie and it was amazing!!! I really liked that the movie showed Batman's detective skills( because he hasn't all that tech in that century)!

I think this would also be a good time to talk about the gotham by gaslight game. That was pretty much the prototype to the creation of the arkham games.
Well damn I need to read the comic now. I didnt know about all the changes.
Did anyone notice the easter egg at the end with Jack the Ripper "vanishing" into the flames?
I loved it accept the ending it was to short. I liked the explination of why jack did it but wanted more of it
Good review, I'm going to watch this movie soon.

All I can say is: I said "but why, though" a lot during this movie.
Just Some Guy with a Mustache why do i see you everywhere? xD
Dc Animation>>>>>>>Marvel Animation
DC live action is shit though (dont get me wrong i like DC 100% more)
Fire lord zuko same i love dc more but marvel has better live action

I think Jack the ripper is Alfred. it only makes sense
Why did they ruin the killing joke?
Bio Hazard MARKETING!
They made it too obvious it was Gordon

why?
first If they cared so much they would of watched the movie already, and second it was super obvious, try paying attention to movies not just being a mindless drone.

I GIVE BATMAN GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT 10. 10
BATMAN VS JACK THE RIPPER
Batman and Harley Quinn was not that bad as people claim. It just wasn't serious and edgy.
I like this movie at the end was a plot twost
james gordan
One of the worst movies ive seen period.
Straight up ruined one of my favourite Batman stories. I hated it. I was really angry after watching it.
