  • It's important and helpful for patients applying for Social Security Disability, and doctors who do Consultative Examinations to know the rules. I go over some of the rules I see people frequently don't know or misunderstand.
You can find all the rules and more at Social Security's website: ssa.gov
This video is not legal advice, if you need help with Social Security laws and rules your best bet is to engage a disability lawyer.

Thank you for sharing the information. I’m trying to learn as much as possible to help my sister who had brain damage as a baby which damaged her short memory processing. She struggles keeping a job because of her memory it’s so hard for her : ( She’s never been able to live on her own because of this memory loss.

Social Security will accept non-medical evidence, especially for psychological cases. If you could get employers or supervisors to write about her difficulties in the workplace, you could include that with her application, and it will help.
Social Security considers that sort of thing very seriously. Also any school or vocational training records with evidence of memory problems.

I have brain injurys iv worked a little bit but at this point its not working out very well. employers only care how fast and productive you are for a bussiness. and not what a person struggles with
