Mat, as I mentioned to you at Hongqiao airport yesterday (in that flashy 5-min conversation), actually you're demonstrating quite a classic western perspective on cars- specs, power, feature and designs. This way of consuming vehicles has been dominated the market in the past, but recently the new start-ups like Nio, Lixiang and XPeng, as well as Zeekr (from Geely) and Huawei (yes the cellphone Huawei, embedding their intelligent car system into partners' vehicles) are shifting the way how customers value the cars in EV era- because most EVs have similar power, big screens and luxurious interiors, there's no dominant of engine replacement like in the ICE era, what stands out for these vehicles are actually the in-car and out-car experience, from digital connectivity, VPA, intelligent hardware, unlimited multimedia streaming, to autonomous driving technologies (didn't you notice the lidars and cameras on these EVs?) and fast charging/battery swapping that makes "refueling" so effortless. What's more, brands like Nio and Lixiang are providing unmatched services and have built up strong bonding with their owners, way way better than Mercedes and BMW.. In this market, customers are shifting from ICE to EV in a super-sonic speed, and Merc, BMW or Audis are struggling to compete. Chinese EV brands are coming to EU soon, bringing superior products there, so stay tuned!
All software driven features will be commoditized as well as they are easy and cost effective to implement. The only differentiating factor in the EV era will be visual design followed by brand recognition.. Same reason people buy iPhone over huwei..

surprised how normal the lambos look in this video great vid man
I love the design of the HiPhi Z, glad that they bring it to europe.
HiPhi Z in case you curious, maybe cost $300.000, KAVELAB.

@@adrianminarik3538 Yeah, first thing that came to mind 🤔
Drop me an email - see my email on my insta account.
All software driven features will be commoditized as well as they are easy and cost effective to implement.
The only differentiating factor in the EV era will be visual design followed by brand recognition..
Same reason people buy iPhone over huwei..
@@digitalkovactually software feature are harder to copy becuase software engineers are more expensive than hardware engineers, futhermore car makers need to compete with google, microsoft for software engineers so they can't even get the good ones

my favorite was when you said the new Porsche suv wasn't available in Europe. The best news I've heard in a while
Are we gonna talk about that stunning camera-man / editor duo? Amazing video, and so perfectly filmed and edited that keeps the attention in Matt in a super crowded place. Even got the time to get him out of focus just to show us the women model 😂😂
That Lexus looks ultra luxurious!
I like the design of Zeeker X and the price of the car is pretty low. The dual motor version is only 210k CNY(less than 30k dollars). BTW, welcome to China Matt.
Welcome to ultimate Chinese Stores.
Man thar Zeekr is ugly as hell. I see some on the roads. So cheap so plastic. Especially the tail light. I don't get it why Chinese would buy it. Chinese are not know for fashion or design that why they hire foreigners. But Zeeker a 1 day pop up half spin ugly as hell. Than rather buy a NIO or Polestar thats way more slicker
Designers : how much the front end should resemble a fence net??
Lexus : yes.
Yep. Lexus also says HOLD MY BEER.
How long before the entire vehicle becomes a grill I wonder...
Some of the new models are making Wartburgs look attractive.
China is leading in various industries, but people all over the world are still mocking. China's continuous progress is admirable.
16:22 Matt is hilarious to just hop into that guy's camera view and block him 😂😂 I watched the entire thing because he's the coolest chilled out reviewer out there tbh 😂
YESSS, Please do some more if these car show videos, these are my favourite carwow videos
It was great to see the Revuelto get shown in this video. So looking forward to a drag race and review compared to the Ultimae.
Amin. Wish we also see Alphard vs LFA drag race.

The amount of new Chinese cars is mind-blowing.
On the somewhat plus side, they can potentially replace all the western brands which left us.

Love your content, I'm sure I'll be getting mine soon. As an investor, cars have always been something I love. I got a Mercedes A class, GLE, and a Rolls Royce.

Nice video! Good to see something a little different!👍

Nice to meet you Matt.. as I mentioned we are actually building a race track and the only drag strip in China (Luanzhou international circuit). Will invite you to our opening
The Yang-Wang development team must have binged on all the James Bond movies to come up with an SUV that turns on axis and able to float on water. I can only imagine they have a bullet proof version in mind with an active missile protection system and other survival tricks as well.
The car behind the Zeekr X is the Zeekr 009 Luxury Electric Mpv that costs about half of its rival the new Lexus LM500. The Zeekr 009 has an impressive 536 hp on tap and does 0-100kmh / 0-62mph in just 4.5 seconds.
Props to Mat Watson's courage on the Lexus LM500 incident, though he doesn't get to sit on those VIP lounge seats at least he gets to fiddle around the storage and run his fingers on the plush carpeting😂
Hey man, welcome to the show, again. Unfortunately I have to work for the week and not able to go. Not sure if you would be doing some road show or wandering around the country. Wish you good luck.
I would love to see Tank vehicles all across Europe, including the UK, the 27 EU countries, Switzerland, Turkey, etc.
Also Haval vehicles (it’s worth noting that Haval is currently offered in Bulgaria but no other EU country or the UK).
Haval selling well in Australia
@@daweigo6851 I saw. Same in South Africa.
Great video, really entertaining, and the Polestar 4 looks fantastic.
Really don't like their rear window decision.
@@savedfaves the Polestar 4 imo looked like VW IDR on the inside but looked like Chevy SSR on the outside.
So... the only way to increase rear headroom was to ditch rear window?
Lazy ass engineering.
China is leading the electric industry because they are smart. They are giving you electric cars while they take your combustion engines cars cus they know which one is more fun, proven, cheaper and faster at the pump
Finally Mat does something outside of regular single car reviews. This car show was pretty interesting. RUclipsrs need to diversify their content, can't watch the same stuff on a regular.
LEXUS 👌🏻😎 THE PERFECTION 😎👍🏻 FIRST CLASS & QUALITY
That Lexus is based on the Toyota Alphard/Vellfire...and those are already really cool.
More like combination of Alphard and RSC.
They are technically not as the current alphard is on the old platform and the new LM is on GA-K. But there will be a new alphard on GA-K as well.
Would be very interesting to see the U9 and Xpeng cars on the UK road, think these Chinese brands would actually do pretty well here
Does anyone remember that episode of TopGear from about 10 years ago where Jeremy says we will all be driving Chinese cars soon…..
Lexus LM looks amazing. Won't mind getting one.
That’s awesome, loving the cars and innovation from China👍

I wish he covered all cars! It's a absolute feast!
Matt should review the Yangwang U9
The Design very promising. So many new electric car. Welcome to the new era.
Early days yet. 2030 will be when EVs start to come into their own. Public charging, car prices and charing speed and range needs fixing for cheaper cars. Right now if you're rich there are some choices, but not if you're not.
@@savedfaves 2030? For me possibly 2035.
@@savedfaves thats not true, a tesla costs equal to a normal car.

There will be many ev's offered in the future but they won't completely take over. It's just not a realistic view to have every single person go around in an ev. Also considering the EU lifted the ban on combustion engines. I think they will co-exist together.
and he didn't even cover half of the most popular EVs launched on this show.
Mat content is really fantastic... I haven't seen this extreme car... I hope I will be able to see a real one .....❤❤❤

Thanks Matt. This is the best coverage of the vehicles at the Shanghai Motor Show. Impressive collection.
Brilliant to see so many lightning powered vehicles. I’d have to agree with Matt, the Yangwang U9 would be my pick; for the name alone. 😂

glad to see Mat is here to show the latest autoshow. Just wondering if there is any comments about Nio, LI Auto? quite interesting brands indeed.
I can see the difference in comments. People now can only nitpick on the design instead of claiming the Chinese copies their techs since they don't have such good electric cars of their own.😌 All they can get is the more expensive tesla.
Haha that’s true. The reason is that Chinese cars use a lot totally new techs now.
