An iris comeback is interesting as like realistically I could see it happening (only for Phoenix to go with Edgeworth for a molars checkup lol). But also like what they are doing with Apollo and Trucy, that plotline seemingly is already in the past, and bringing iris back isn't really a cameo the level of Maya or Franziska/Gumshoe would be. So it would be nice but I dont see it happening sorry iris x Phoenix shippers

I do agree that killing Phoenix would be a cheap ploy. And Capcom has already proven that killing a main mascot would be disastrous after Frank West's end.
I'm more in favour of Athena and Apollo dealing with something major while Phoenix is away or indisposed. You don't need anything complex, just a reason for Phoenix to be unavailable for the most part, maybe with a phone call or brief visit cameo here and there. Simplicity is usually the winning formula, after all.

I heard people pitch Athena or Phoenix travel to Europe to separate them and deal with stuff overseas. Even though that kind of plays into what they just did in SOJ, it’s just one way to get one out of the picture and focus on an entirely different situation without doing anything drastic to any of the mainstream

I've seen fandoms say they want the main character to get killed off in favor of a new character, and then get mad when that actually happens.
Killing off the main character seems like a common trope these days, and I'm tired of it. It seems like everyone wants to kill off the main character just for the sake it. Like you said, it's just lazy writing for shock value. Have Phoenix retire and like, leave the country for a while or something instead.

  • @fluffystuff500
    @fluffystuff500 9 месяцев назад +88

I think one of the things they could do for Phoenix at this point is to have him tackle some different types of cases. Not being in the story risks a loss in sales considering he's the face of the franchise, him being the main character again isn't a good idea as he's pretty much completed his character arc, he's too early in his career to rationally retire (especially in this economy), his death would be a bad idea for numerous reasons, and having him taking on more murder cases risks players thinking his story would be more interesting than the one they're following.
The guy has seen enough death for one lifetime. Especially since he's not even 40. While he is a lawyer, I don't remember him ever saying he is exclusively a criminal defense lawyer. He took a civil case in SoJ (though he was being coerced, and it ended up being a murder), and a theft in T&T (which also ended up being a murder but he didn't know at the time,) and I don't think it's farfetched to assume he'd be willing to do more like that. Have him be extremely busy with petty lawsuits and robberies and whatnot, while Athena (or whoever is the protagonist) deals with the murders due to a lack of other lawyers at the agency. Maybe for the last chapter, their cases overlap and Athena has to connect the dots.
Idk, probably a stupid idea, but I think it's better than killing him off.

@@MarcusXD100 I don’t think it is, people misunderstand these games, Phoenix gets just as much development, if not more than Apollo, the respect from Phoenix is more so his character development than Apollo’s. Yes, the Dhurke stuff is development from Apollo, however, Apollo doesn’t stand on his own in court in case 5, he doesn’t even start the revolution, the revolution was already stronger than the royals (likely to overthrow them by force regardless of Apollo’s actions in the trial in kurain) thanks to PHOENIX exposing them in case 3, I think SOJ is a Phoenix Wright game, with Apollo being stand-in in case 2 and important in case 5, although across the whole game, Phoenix makes more of an impact and we follow more of his journey than we do Apollo’s IMO

Athena just feels like an 'eh' choice for main protagonist with the regular cast, but I would _love_ a game with Athena in that position with Blackquill as the main assistant for the game. Out of all the characters Athena could be paired up with, Blackquill specifically has the best chemistry with her behind the bench IMO, and the other main characters already have their perfect partners - Phoenix with Maya, Apollo with Trucy. Blackquill also seems like the perfect candidate for a more active assistant - someone who could participate more in the actual trial proceedings instead of just playing moral support.

Personally, I think the best way forward incorporates all of these things simultaneously. I think that a 3rd trilogy is the way to go to fully wrap up the Phoenix Wright story and then move on to other characters. Here’s how I’d write it.
I love the part in super hero shows where all the villains join forces to take out the hero. That’s where I’d start. Morgan Fey, Manfred Von Karma, Kristoph Gavin, and Damon Gant all join forces to take Phoenix and co out-for good. Of course, this wouldn’t be revealed until later in the game.
Early on in the game, just as Phoenix is about to win a case, he gets murdered. Reeling in shock, Athena and Apollo have to take up the reins and finish the case. BUT… Phoenix isn’t actually dead. Rather, his death is faked because Edgeworth, Gumshoe, and Francisca start hearing rumors that Shelley De Killer is trying to kill him. They don’t tell Apollo and Athena (and us, by extension) in order to protect them. If they think Phoenix is dead, perhaps the people trying to kill him will believe so, too. And if they got captured, they would not be able to give them the information they want.
To further solidify Phoenix’s death, his “body” is found, with evidence showing Edgeworth is the killer. Athena and Apollo try to defend him, but they lose. It’s an airtight case. However what Apollo, Athena, and the player don’t know is that the entire case and Phoenix’s death is a complete fabrication. Edgeworth is also a target, and the group decided the best way to protect Edgeworth is to get him incarcerated. Since Phoenix also needs to be undeniably dead, this is a sort of two birds, one stone kind of deal.
Thinking that Phoenix is dead, the bad guys then turn their crosshairs to the rest of Wright Anything Agency. This gives ample time for Apollo and Athena to get some much-needed screen time, and allows for an absolutely earth-shattering final game.
In the final case, during the final attack, that’s when Phoenix returns. For the three of them together to end it once and for all.

I don’t really have any story related ideas for the next Ace Attorney game,
but I would think it’d be cool to have a slight time jump, and with that a little wardrobe change for Apollo and Athena.
I think it’d just be cool if Apollo grew like a short stache + goatee (separated) and now has some Kurah’in flair to his vest and general outfit, and if Athena changed to wearing a full blazer and suit pants, with the pants being a little bell bottom-y, and the coat to still have the rolled sleeves.
I can’t really think of another difference they could make to Phoenix’s outfit since Capcom gave him his 3-piece suit in DD. The only thing I could think of a change in Phoenix would I guess him growing out a beard like how Capcom gave Ryu one in SF6. I guess they could put some flair into it and make it somewhat like his actual hair too?

I'd really like to know what exactly you mean by Blackquill being a watered down version of Godot.
The only unique similarity they share is that both of them went to prison. Godot is an interesting character with inherent flaws who due to his sexism blamed Phoenix for not protecting Mia (this later turned out to be him projecting) which is why Godot killed Dahlia just for the sake of revenge. Despite being fully aware of who the body belonged to. This is his tragedy.
Simon on the other hand pleads guilty for killing his mentor, only because he was under the impression that her Daughter was the culprit. His drive was to save Athena which in turn lead Athena to turn into a lawyer.
I fail to see any parallels.

    • @CoolCarGuy
      @CoolCarGuy  9 месяцев назад +22

From my personal interpretation, Blackquil as a character and personality felt like an attempt to recreate Godot, but only really a surface level understanding as to why godot is so compelling. And Blackquil lacking the personal flaw as you mentioned as Godot with his arrogance and sexist/male savior attitude is the very reason Blackquil feels lesser than Godot.
Both use some form of “psychological manipulation” to win their arguments, however Godot is way more pungent and has a different level of intensity to his comments. Blackquil meanwhile only really makes very shallow statements and calls them “psychological manipulation” in my opinion. (More so a part of Yamazaki’s writing style which you could take it or leave it). But thats a major reason as to why Blackquil just feels like an Ai look the base details that make up godot and made a character based on that.
And there is the tragic backstory which godot and Blackquil kind of differ, but still have similarities: prolific prosecutors who throw everything away from one event. But while Blackquil had the more sappy sympathy level backstory incline to those who see Godot as a selfless hero, Godot’s true backstory has that level of depth and character flaw that makes his lore thought provoking than Blackquil. Blackquil is distant just cuz he wants to protect Athena? It’s a backstory we’ve seen a million times. But Godot could be argued his poisoning was from arrogance and even his underlying sexism seeing dahlia as lesser. It’s a tragic backstory surmounted by Godot’s own flaws rather than just one who made a presumption through pure selfless sympathy.
So like the Godot Blackquil isn’t a direct 1 to 1, but there are similarities are similar arcs trying to make two dark edgy characters with tragic and selflessness to them. But one in my opinion one just feels more intriguing and dark while the other is just a more surface level and shallow version of what they did with godot.

    • @IceBlueLugia
      @IceBlueLugia Месяц назад +1

The thing with Blackquill is that I feel he’s compelling as a rival before and after his big moments in 5-5. Whereas Godot is really mostly defined by the 3-5 ending and doesn’t stand out much before that, and never appears afterwards
Blackquill also gives off many Lana Skye vibes since they both plead guilty to a crime they didn’t commit and act cold and distant to protect someone close to them. To me that makes Blackquill feel less unique while with someone like Godot he remains morally grey throughout the entire thing. You can see his loving and selflessness from how deeply he was hurt from Mia’s death, but also how incredibly selfish he is in trying to live out some hero fantasy where he kills Dahlia and saves Maya, at the cost of Misty’s and Iris’ life. It means that while some may hate him and not sympathize at all, some also will sympathize with him and remember him fondly. Either way, it creates interesting discussion and makes him incredibly memorable. Blackquill doesn’t really have that, he doesn’t even have the moral greyness Lana had where she outright forged evidence to protect Ema. Blackquill simply lies under oath which every damn witness does lol
In the end not sure who I prefer

Maybe he could even leave clues for the others to try and figure out throughout the game.

Also, I agree, killing Phoenix would be an awful idea. While it would be shocking and devastating, I don't see what it could really bring to the table despite that. Another character could take the starring role without him dying, lol.

My idea: We play as Phoenix in Case 1. But he needs to be hospitalised for a long time after he received some very severe injuries from attempted murder. Therefore, from Case 2 to the final case, we’ll play as Athena, who will be temporarily in charge of the Agency until Phoenix is fully recovered.

To be honest I'm also on the side that killing Phoenix off would do more harm then good for not only the franchise but the characters as well since as you mentioned before, it'll once again center around Phoenix but just with his 'death' instead.
Phoenix is actually my favorite character in AA and I actually had an alternative idea for him with one last storyline that'll wrap up his character for the most part in my book. I think people have seen this idea already with a few fan videos being made of it, but anyone ever notice that we follow Phoenix's and everyone's adventures but we haven't delved too much into Phoenix's mental state unlike Athena and Apollo. I think I a nice storyline (kudos to anyone who remembers the fan video of this idea) starts with Phoenix showing off the magatama to Apollo explaining how it works. We all know Apollo's famous line 'I'm Apollo Justice and I'm fine!" as a way to pump himself up. He encourages Phoenix to try that out while he's holding the magatama and Phoenix goes 'I'm Phoenix Wright and I'm fine!'. And then a whole bunch of black psyche locks appear on him stunning Apollo. Phoenix is oblivious to this reveal and Apollo realizes that they got a BIG problem.
Because when you really think about, Phoenix goes through a fucking lot through out the games. Whether it's physical or mental trauma it's a god damn laundry list varying from game to game. And he seems to come out perfectly fine by the end of it and there isn't much address on his mental well being after everything is said and done from others or even himself.
I think this could be a really good story line that ties all three attorneys together since we've seen all of their pasts to an extent. Athena and Apollo would be a solid team up of figuring out Phoenix's emotions and breaking each psyche lock each chapter setting up a dynamic where for once Phoenix needs to rely on them rather than vice versa whether he realizes it or not. It can also bring out more sides to said three characters since this isn't really the type of challenge they're use to outside of Athena with her being able to detect and feel emotions. It's not perfect and could definitely use some polish here and there on how they would go about it but I definitely like the idea since it focuses more on the psychological aspects of the characters rather then their pasts or just trying to be a better lawyer.
Sorry for the wall of text, I just think it's neat.

Like, seriously, some of the stuff that the fans have come up with are really insane and I hope that the devs use those moments as inspiration to make the next game. Don't know if it's ok for me to name any of them, but I suggest looking up the most famous 1s and to play through them fully.

I'm so glad that there are a lot of people still talking about Ace Attorney.
Well, the Apollo Justice Trilogy is happening so I see it was obvious, but still, that a lot of people are not only talking, also speculating and theorizing as much as they can.
I also expect that Ace Attorney 7 happens, we already got 3 compilations, a new game sounds like about time.
Okay, this was amazing. The topics that fandom has touched and needs answer.
About Athena: I love Athena, but I feel her introduction was heavily overshadowed by Phoenix's return and Apollo's tragic path, without mentioning the whole lotta traumas both Athena and Apollo presented in just one game. Athena has the rights to have her own game, she deserves it.
About the Prosecutors: Are they really ignoring the existence of Franziska, Sebastian and Klavier in favor of Edgeworth? Hey, Edgeworth is amazing but if they brought back Ema or Pearl, then those prosecutors also would deserve a comeback, right? Just imagine the situations and dialogue between Sebastian and Athena, or Franziska and Blackquill trying to slash each other by mere provoking.
About Apollo: His "trilogy" is happening, yes, but he wasn't the main character in one and a half games from that trilogy. And meanwhile Spirit of Justice finally gave Apollo his ultimate resolution, he still has a lot to offer, not only in Khura'in. His chords of steel are still vibrating with excitement, I want to hear more of them.
About the Spinoffs: WE NEED MORE SPINOFFS. Maybe kind of like a title such as "The Ace Attorney Files" that talk about Mia and Godot's old cases, of even Gregory's ones, even a whole new cast unrelated to the main characters.
About Phoenix's dead: I've been in a lot of fandoms, and the topic of killing the main protagonist is always a constant.
I even know that is just the riskiest decision to ever give, no matter the context.
Killing Phoenix, while it may give such a heavy twist to the series and the consequences that follows, I think it's just not a good idea.
Phoenix has been for a LONG time already, he's basically a renamed character with such influence and recognition, killing him would change the focus.
As you said, dead is no rare in Ace Attorney, but it is the impact that it gives to the plot at the moment. Some deaths happen because they must, are presented for the main character to get through the shock and find the hope after. But we're talking about Phoenix, his death will only cause shock for the sake of shock.
Also, Apollo and Athena can shine without putting Pheonix out of the picture, Apollo Justice, Investigations and The Great Ace Attorney are proof of that.
To finish, can I imagine them letting Phoenix get killed even after everything he went through?
    Nah.
Overall, I enjoyed so much this video. You really took feedback from the comment and with that explored every topic with such caution and investigation. Truly a remarkable job.

Once a character is dead, they are cut off from the world altogether and not supposed to come back, even in a fictional world. Otherwise, questions start to arise as to why they were not preserved alive if they were meant to still play an active role.
If Phoenix were to quit lawyering, simply "quitting" like retirement would be enough. He wouldn't play an active role anymore as a lawyer while still being able to operate as much as needed.
Regardless, this is just an opinion on the matter.

Much as I would like for the lingering plot threads, like Apollo and Trucy being siblings, I just honestly feel like they're gonna purposely go unresolved forever. The best opportunities to resolve these threads have come and gone which is why I feel fine with a new cast taking over. Or at least, a new cast + Athena and Blackquill. I just can't imagine many of the resolutions at this point being all that satisfying at this point. For instance, we already had Mr. Reus who, assumedly, was the last unresolved part of Troupe Gramarye which would've been a perfect time to do... something with the two half-siblings but we got nothing in that regard. And now at this point, unless they devise some incredible storyline I cannot envision currently, it would probably kill the pacing and feel cheap despite how long we've been waiting for it.
Also a new cast could be cool if it was something about Athena as the rookie figuring herself out and we got to see more different kinds of lawyers and prosecutors, not in terms of their presence during a trial, but as characters with various opinions and thoughts about justice and the law and so on.

not addressing the apollo trucy backstory may have been the biggest failure of the Yamazaki era of ace attorney games imo. So I think just even passingly address it in a one-off special episode case would just give it the closure it deserves

11:17 Or Lestrade. I wanna see Gina Lestrade grown up and being a good detective without Gregson.
Though maybe she could way for Sholmes to cover his blindspots because she has first hand knowledge on crimes and criminal motivation. While Lestrade will be kinda tied to Scotland Yard politics like Gregson when Sholmes isn't.
My idea would be to have a game take place 2-5 years after the events of the Chronicles with a 12-15 year old Iris Wilson and a 20-23 year old Lestrade. I have a feeling there's potential there. Though the "5 year" option would be kinda hard to tie to the Chronicles games because it would be basically ages ago and long forgotten. While with the 2 year option you can imagine that Wilson and Lestrade still hold some grief about Klint van Zieks and Gregson respectively. Though I also really wanna see Teenage Wilson.

The reason why Athena is so controversial is because her existence takes away from both Apollo and Trucy.
Duel Destiny should have Apollo as the main character with Trucy as the assistant. With Athena existing, she now has to have a role, and someone had to be cut down.
Most of Athena roles could be given to other characters, and it wouldn't cause many major problems aside from writing a slight difference in the story.
I should note that I actually like Athena, but I knew that spirit of justice would sideline her. It just too many people in the game and not enough time to flesh them out.
Spirit of Justice is a prime example of this. The game starts with Phoenix in another country, only to switch to Apollo and Athena who are back home with a case that pretty disconnected to the main game, only to go back to Phoenix in the other country to continue the story, but then you go back to Athena in Japan to have another irrelevance case.
Spirit of Justice has a major pacing issues that no other game had, not even Duel Destiny has that issue, and it's because Athena existed and we were expecting to be able to play as her because the previous set up that expectations.
As much as I like Apollo more than Athena, him leaving is a very good thing, because now the game can slow themselves down to a new, more manageable pace.
Ace Attorney 7 should be better because they are no longer bound by needing to give three charaters a case each in a 5 case game.

5)Gumshoe is the detective, Franziska is the main prosecutor and Winston is the tutorial prosecutor
    6)Forensic science segments with Ema
    7)Add new game mechanics

9)Tie up all loose ends and mysteries
10)A main villain who challenges Athena's morality and resolve like never before

The fact that Athena is being included in the weekly Apollo Justice Trilogy trailers gives me hope that Capcom hasn’t completely forgotten about her. My guess is that it’ll depend on how well the AJ Trilogy does if we get an Athena game. But man, I want it BADLY now. And Franziska would be such a fun prosecuting foil to Athena.
My dream spin-off would be an AAI game starring Klavier and Simon as they work with Edgeworth to clean up the Prosecutors’ Office following Simon’s acquittal. And they take turns being the lead or the other’s weird assistant. Mostly because I love those two characters and want more of them, but also because the AJ trilogy prosecutors never really got the chance to get fully fleshed out beyond their debut games. It’s become one of the casualties of introducing a new prosecutor with each game and why I love that we got Barok for both Chronicles games. Edgeworth’s story didn’t end with DL6, so why should Klavier’s end with the jurist trial or Simon with his acquittal?

Hoo boy. Where do I even begin.
Why kill Phoenix? Why? WHY? If you want to reduce his role, just make him busy or Athena's co-counsel. At the end of the day, he is still the owner of the Wright Anything Agency, and that would make the story go "mentor death as motivation" all over again. He can be in the background, or have one of the case where he takes the lead because the implications are high.
That said, the idea of him becoming a District Attorney is... a logical follow-up, after all the stunts he pulled to get to where he is.
A Mia prequel can be interesting, and for one good reason: A return to the series' roots. With the over-reliance on the Magatama, Bracelet, Mood Matrix, I feel it would do the series a lot of good to return to more realistic setting. And shed more light on what evidence Mia had on Redd White - he is the reason she became an attorney. In doing so we will have the full picture of the damages caused by Gregory's murder.
Also, I think after two murders, Kristoph can't come back to mess with Athena. He had to have got that lethal shot.
On the same vein, I would mind Godot reappearing, but I wouldn't mind seeing some Godot references from Phoenix. The guy has to have an impact in Phoenix's life.
If they want anything to do with Apollo, make his cases a separate game - I personally didn't like Spirit of Justice's contrived stuff and Apollo getting a new backstory every time I change my nephew's diapers.

Never forgiving you for calling blackquill a watered down godot lmao but yeah I agree w most other points here. I think games 5 and 6 had a lot more good than bad esp game 5 and I would love to see aa7 take the remaining threads from games 4-6 and resolve them in a cool way w Athena as a protagonist. I will say I doubt they won’t make a new prosecutor considering that that’s a staple of the ace attorney formula, but I think if they do it well it wouldn’t actually be a bad thing. Also one more thing I want is more screentime and characterization for nahyuta, not necessarily even as a prosecutor we face in court again but just as an assistant or even a witness. I think a lot of people are wayyyy too harsh on him and seeing how he’d have changed since aa6 would be good for his character.

AA7 should be a Phoenix Wright game, the final Phoenix Wright game. Some ideas would be: he makes allies out of the Paynes, people who have hated him since the first game, EVERY main character since the first game returns, the threat of this game is a gang, made up of most of the main villains Phoenix has defeated, even manipulating Maya/Pearl to channel Manfred and Dahlia, Phoenix apologising to Apollo for the forged ace and using him for his own benefits, telling him and Trucy the truth, like the end of SOJ, the game would need to end with character development, with Phoenix retiring and passing the torch to Athena, setting up AA8, which would be the Athena game that everyone wants. I just feel that before that happens, Phoenix needs a proper sendoff game that ends in his retirement, leaving Capcom now choice but to switch protagonists in AA8, while using AA7 to send off Phoenix in a satisfying way, while also tying up all loose ends from the second trilogy

while your ideas for bringing in kristoff are interesting i'm a little hesitant because i can't see how he could get to athena. let's say he's not in jail and allowed to continue as an attorney for whatever reason. kool. he's a defence attourney so he wouldn't be facing athena in court. and if he actually tried approaching her then apollo and phoenix would warn her right away what a bad guy he is and she wouldn't trust him.
athena is naive but she's not dumb enough to trust a guy who framed her boss using trucy. killed a man. and almost killed an innocent girl.
    so she'd avoid him.
he'd have to become a prosecuter for him to have any real presence in athena's life and i doubt edgeworth would allow that since no doubt he knows everything he did
i think the problem with kristoff is they blew the whistle too soon with him. he's a really interesting character but he's arrested in the first episode of AJ and then doesn't appear till near the end of the game.
we don't get to really know him before he's taken away from us

There still a chance that Kristoph can have an influence. Similar to the Daredevil show with Kingpin, despite everybody knowing he is a threat he is able to usurp power and almost become mayor. There are ways they can maneuver around it. And I didn’t think that Kristoph would’ve a prosecutor but rather a mysterious figure in the shadows having his influence behind bars to influence other figures like he did in Apollo Justice, and use that to coerce people to manipulate Athena for maybe defending a guilty client or something. He can be an influence with staying cool and collected and not dirtying his hands or leaving his cell or be the main prosecutor or anything.

I think if they really wanted to, they should do something similar to what they did with Apollo. Give him an indefinite exit where they can bring him back at any time.
Speaking of Apollo, maybe AA7 could actually focus on him, and intertwining his backstories, while he becomes the mentor to a new generation of Attorneys in a reforming Justice system. That opens the doors for a lot of new characters, and new possibilities

Eh if they need to remove phoenix they can always shove him to partner with edgeworth or whatever and track some kind of crime overseas and leave apollo, athena and trucy to hold down the fort.
Would be kinda hilarious if they isekaied phoenix to do lawyering in a complete fantasy setting with none of the good old investigation tech and meanwhile he's just missing in his own world and presumed dead.

I hope ace attorney 7 has Athena as the main protag and Klavier as the prosecutor. Sorry Franziska, Klavier was WAY too underutilized to NOT need another game. Especially if said game has KRISTOPH.

Honestly, I'm sure this might be an unpopular opinion, but I think the Ace Attorney team should just drop all the characters entirely. Ace Attorney Chronicles did this and it's really the best game in the series.
I love Apollo, and occasionally Athena and Phoenix, but I think it's just time to let them go. Phoenix definitely had his time, and Apollo, while I wish he could stick around, is just way to complicated to deal with now. I wish they could do another actual Apollo Justice game with Trucy and Klavier, but it just doesn't seem possible.
If Athena had a game, then it be the most heartbreaking thing ever, as we'd have to wave goodbye to his honor, our beloved 'udgy. Since Junie would have to be the new judge, and I'm not sure anyone is prepared for that. Not to mention if Athena had a game, well, actually I can't even picture it. She'd have to have a male sidekick, but that's about all I can gleam. She could potentially have a game, because she doesn't really have much going on, so that makes her an ideal candidate I suppose. I just personally wasn't a fan of the mood matrix.

I think that is the direction the series is finally taking, especially with the outcry a bunch of community members have had. I don't agree with abandoning all that the mainline has built towards, just repolish everything and get things to a satisfactory conclusion

I seriously doubt Phoenix will be killed off. He's the face of the series. It'd be like if Nintendo decided to kill off Mario.

there is a fancase where pheonix gets killed of called turnabout of a legend where Apollo is defending a friend of his for murdering pheonix. It was supposed to be the first in a series of cases but it's been a few years since there's been any word from the developer so it's unlikely they'll any more cases in that series.

I'm ok with Pheonix taking a backseat (Apollo Justice was great honestly)
But I really hate the idea of killing him off or writing him out. Even if he isnt _playable_ anymore, having him not there makes no sense.
Though I would still prefer just having him relevant lol, love my boy Pheonix
I think I also need to add, I really cant consider it an "Apollo Trilogy". Spirit of Justice was kinda his? Dual Destinies just wasnt, though. Pheonix had so much more (of course), but because of that, I think its too late to have him take a backseat.

Tbh I kinda want to see the franchise go back to the Manfred von Karma and Blaise Debeste times and deal with a case as a flashback case like they did with the inherited turnabout by the murder of someone like idk Marvin Grossberg and it is dealt by the og main cast of Phoenix and Edgeworth. It can feature insights on Grossberg Law Offices with many attorneys like Hammond, Armando, and perhaps in training Mia in a law school with Lana. This can be dealt by Phoenix segments while on the other hand Edgeworth can handle Edgeworth law offices and PIC segments. We could also get flashback segments with Grossberg leading them (kinda unappealing but idk who else can be chosen). They can also bring back Detective Rip Lacer as a minor culprit or smth. Or maybe an entire spinoff like investigations 3 to take place in this period. We can see Badd's comeback too. This time period has high potential. I personally think they could either go and make it a full Pre IS-7 game or full post DL-6 game.
Edit : We might even see Payne's first defeat in this by perhaps Grossberg and see a little comedic rivalry among them.

So, I’d love to have Eustace as lead prosecutor, as at the end of Prosecutor’s Gambit, he was just starting his development, and having him against Athena would be great… if it weren’t for the timeskip. It’s been seven years, so he’s likely already reached the level of skill shown by characters like Edgeworth and Blackquill. So *my* idea to still have Eustace but also a Prosecutor who’s at a similar level of experience to Athena? Have Eustace be mentoring Robin. She’s someone who not only already knows and is friends with Athena, but she’s also still a rookie who’s new to the job, like Athena, but to a greater extent. Similar to how we always get a co-counsel, maybe they could have Robin as main prosecutor with Eustace being her co-counsel. That can show Eustace’s development and have someone near Athena’s level at the same time. Plus it’s likely that Edgeworth mentored Eustace during the seven year gap, so it would make sense that Edgeworth would want to continue in that legacy by having his protégé mentor another extremely promising prosecutor. Plus is would also make sense for Edgeworth to trust Eustace to do that while he and some of the others work on a big case in the background.
