    Its sad that the world doesn't know about the indigenous people ( Bushman and Khoi ) of South Africa and what they went through during colonialism. They were the first people seen when the colonists set foot in SA.

    • @madee764
      @madee764 10 месяцев назад +12

      Because there's very few 100% Khoi or San people in modern times to tell their own stories. Almost their entire populations have been assimilated and intermixed with their more dominant Bantu groups and from the colonial era, Coloured People. So one could say it's maybe the duty of Coloured and the Bantu groups of South Africa to tell the world stories of the Khoe and San as they are technically descendants of these people.

    • @agrid2608
      @agrid2608 10 месяцев назад +6

      Pastoralism and hunting ("khoi" and "san") ways of life are basically moribund in SA.
      Humans are not STATIC labels in a book.
      Their descendants banded together in the ascendant, then still minor, agro-pastoralist house that became the union of all natives to become the large modern tribe/nation in the Cape colony & its later native reserve in the East. (XHOSA).

    • @Camagwinee
      @Camagwinee 10 месяцев назад

      @@sthe_zar6341 it doesn't connect to her story but it happened a couple of decades after Sarah Baartman's tragic death. Nongqawuse was a 14 year old "prophetess" who claimed to have had a visit from her ancestors by the Ciskei River and saw three figures that told her that in order to get rid of white colonisers, they need to torch their livestock and land. Only then the sun will turn red and the colonisers will evacuate/go back to where they come from. She allegedly prophesied that the sun will turn red on 18 Feb 1856 (of course that never happened). She was sentenced to Robben Island by a British minister (or judge I'm not sure).

    The French liked to display African remains in their museums thus continuing the dehumanisation of Africans.
    Africans respects the dead and it’s a shame to see how they displayed her body, the Belgians 🇧🇪 did similar practices.
    Not so long ago the French returned the back the displayed dead bodies of the Algerian freedom fighters to finally be put to rest.

    Regrettably, apartheid continues to persist as an unspoken policy in South Africa. Were this not the reality, we, as Africans, would be able to recount the history of our forebears, the Basarwa and Khoi Khoi, with unblemished authenticity. The perpetual separation between us, as contemporary Africans, and our ancestral heritage serves a purpose that could potentially empower individuals of African descent. It is funny @TheDemouchets, the offspring(mulattos) of European explorers and hunters(born out of rape nd genocide) are often referred to as the descendants of the Khoi and San peoples, indigenous inhabitants of the region. They usually say to us, "You are not South Africans,". However, we know what is truthful and what is not.
