Hey family! History is painful and many people who went through this painful event is still living. No racist or disrespectful comments will be tolerated.
✋ I highly recommend this story on Kenya and what really wen down with he British. Sorry covered by AlJazeera: ruclips.net/video/K4sSGd2w_rk/видео.html
Thank you I am 67yrs old man from South Africa I am part of that generation who fought for freedom. I now call you my family for reaction in this video we love as South Africans it was very tough and painful in those days thank you
The first two stanzas of the national anthem is an African hymn, “Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika” (God Bless Africa), sung across the diaspora in Africa. It is sung in 3 indigenous African languages. During the struggle, that part of the anthem was sung as a stand-alone chorus and was eventually banned because of its association to anti-apartheid movement.
Another one 😊. I agree with those who are saying please watch Sarafina. Just make sure that you have a box of clinax when you do because I watch this movie over and over again but each time I watch it I am in tears. It's very educational in terms of our history but it's also a very sad movie.
The coolest part is that all kids in Africa around my age watched the Movie Sarafina to commemorate the kids of Soweto that were shot, jailed and tortured. I won't lie though...life here on earth makes me yearn for heaven. Because if it's not here the same problems associated with violence are everywhere
For this reason I'm now a dedicated fan of this channel. You guys are officially my number go to channel. I appreciate you learning about South Africa on this level. I think it's time you guys start looking into visiting or relocating. I know for a fact South Americans would welcome you with warm hearts. We truly thank you for learning about this👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I’m African American as well. Until recently, we were never able to see anything about South Africa, but Thanks to social media, and especially tv shows like how to ruin Christmas or blood & water, people are starting to talk about South Africa more.
Watching you (African Americans) learn about us is an experience one cannot even describe. We, in South Africa, have learned about you for decades, felt your pain even more because we were going through our own stuff in our country. Watched Roots and shook our heads thinking just how long this has been going on. Finally our brothers and sisters have looked across the Atlantic and learned that they are not alone, never have been alone.
Omg, am Ugandan but listening to such mischief upon Africa's youngster literally made me tear thinking about my younger siblings in such situations. It's not only the Whites with such ruthless acts, but also Fellow Black leaders in countries like Uganda. Whereby in the last general elections, over 60people died in police shootings in a period of over 1 month in Kampala due to protesting against oppression and unfairness demonstrated by certain government agencies in brutally silencing any opposition leaders... To the extent that in Central Uganda which is the most developed region of the country government still lost tremendously with over 95% votes towards the opposition and opposition members of Parliament.
I'm South African and I have two wonderful Ugandan friends whom I met in Jordan (middle east). I'm so sorry you guys are experiencing so much injustice 💔

Our history in South Africa was really a painful one. You'll really need to review content on Winnie Mandela incarceration. There is some content about how bad things were in South Africa. The movie Sarafina documents some of what happened to black South Africa. Thanks for reviewing South Africa history.
My nephew was 11yrs old shot 11times the left side of his face was gone ,its hard were a traumatized nation and its true the youth of today is lost if they can just watch the video and understand what we went through maybe maybe they will understand and respect June 16
I'm sorry for what happened to your brother. Stories like this are the reason why I'm always shocked when people say they "celebrate" Youth Day ... drinking and dancing.... instead of commemorating the day respectfully.
This happened on the 16th of June 1976, it hasn't even been 50 years yet. People tell us to forget about the past and embrace our place in this unjust society.
Watched that movie when I was 12 with my parents. I cried tears that day. I still wonder how y'all were able to forgive them and still mingle with them in your country😥😥😥
literally...they rolled down my cheeks. I am a South African and feel so privileged to have not experienced what our parents and grannies went through. 😢😭
I keep loving your reactions... To be honest I did history in school and even as a young person it really hurts to see what our parents and grandparents went through... But overall I love your work guys❤🌈
Mbuyisa Makhubu was/is my highschool principal' brother , the news would come to school on Youth day the 16th of June and interview him. The most painful thing he (principal) said to us is that they may never get to know what happened to their brother or even give him a dignified funeral if he has passed on.
Find that anthem. South Africa's National Anthem is one of the most beautiful anthems in Africa...I would say the world too. As a Kenyan, I would vote for ours first, then South Africa. Add these anthems to your react schedule if possible.
Why we as Black people we must come together. The war between Africans and African-Americans has got to stop Black people we have to work together✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾

Also, one of the eleven official languages of South Africa and until 1990 one of three official languages of Namibia.

I visited Soweto in December of 2021 and listening to this story and being there broke my heart. Till today I still can’t delete the photos I took. The boy carrying Hector Pieterson in the photo is said to have just disappeared into thin air. There’s so many rumors as to where he is but nobody knows.
Always appreciate these videos, and love the consistency, and interest 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 FUN FACTS even many South Africans gloss over: 1. The date of June 16 was chosen by the Students to actually represent Black Power (as it was initially even called "Black Power Day"), to coincide with the date Kwame Ture coined/popularized the term "Black Power" on 16 June 1966. One of the main kids who organized these protests, Teboho Tsietsi Mashinini, would actually even live with Kwame Ture in Guinea while in exile. 2. Hastings Ndlovu (15/16) & Hector Peterson (13. child in the picture) were some of the youngest children (amongst many) to be killed by the SAP (South African Police). This wasn't the only incident children were massacred by the Police (see also Trojan Massacre in Cape Town in 1985). 3. The Student Uprisings were not just limited to Soweto, but spread across South Africa from June 1976 to early 1977. 4. The South African government actually blamed some older Political Leaders (of the PAC) for "inciting these children to protest, and fermenting revolution" (they didn't), and held a secret trial called the Bethal 18 Trial/Bethal Treason Trial (the ONLY one ever). They would kill 4/18, and attempt to kill 1 during the trial. The remaining 13 were found guilty and the "leader" (Zephania Mothopeng) was sentenced to 15 Years for something he wasn't even involved in, and solely because of the then Black Consciousness Movement.
I personally appreciate you guyz for reacting to a video like this. many Americans will now start to understand reasons behind the struggles of African people and stop being ignorant✌💛✌💛
