Hi, for JET 2020, there have been some changes in the reminders indicated in the email that was sent,, so pls disregard any info that don't apply to you. Good luck! 😊
My name is Ian. I am from Baguio City and I am part of the 2021 cohort. I just started my second year in the JET Programme. Allow me to share my two cents on the issue on applications and acceptance. There is no perfect application, and there is no formula to getting in. It is sad that we are pulling down other Pinoy JETs just because our applications did not get through. Let me explain. I am a perfect example of imperfect application. I did everything well, but I know I messed up a part of it which I cannot really share here for personal reasons. (I never watched vlogs prior to applying--with respects to T Macs, idol kita friend--which I am glad I only did after I got in cause I was able to maintain my genuine self and not be too cautious of pitfalls.) I knew that my application went from great to just good because of one mistake, but it was not a reason for the Embassy to cancel me. Remember that hiring processes are not set in stone. There is so much more to qualifications than just CVs and SOPs and recommendations. Hiring managers and panels "vibe" you out. They "feel" you: your genuineness, your passion, your strengths and weaknesses. My "mistake" was a weakness which I was able to recover during the application. I was given an alternate status but if anything, it taught me what I did well and what I didn't. Instead of looking at other people's applications and nitpicking theirs, maybe we need to look into our own first. I decided to give JET another go the next year, but as God may have destined for me, I got a slot eventually. I WAS THE LAST FILIPINO JET TO ARRIVE IN 2021. It's a toxic world already. I believe that we all do ourselves a bigger favor when we focus more on our backyards than others'. The grass maybe greener on the other side, but you can always water your lawn. Pinoy teachers are amazing. We have competitive CVs. We publish, research, outreach, and boy do we have the best visual aids and English boards. But again, there are reasons why we may NOT be picked. God probably planned something bigger for us, or he wanted us to fail so we will be humbled and learn something new to become better. Dust yourselves up, co-Pinoys. JET gets around 2.5K applications for a slot of less than a hundred per year. What is intended for us will be ours. What is not, well, we have to move on from. Look for other opportunities. It is not the end of the world. But if JET is something that really means something to your goals, review your applications, make changes, be introspective and develop a better vibe/personality, heal from your red flags, don't be toxic, and let God do the rest. Ganbatte ne!
Thank you so much for this vlog Teacher Macs!!! Naiyak ako sa 7th tip. Haha! I’m very nervous pero tama, we just have to do our best and leave it all up to God. 🙏🏼
Ligwak ako! Wala akong nareive na email eh Huhu. But thank you Teacher Macs for all the tips on your previous vlogs. Still, happy for those who made it! Good luck and God bless.
Hi, Sir. I'll be in Japan this March as an ALT from a private dispatch company but I have a friend applying in JET and he made it to second round so I'm sending this to him. Hehe! :) Thank you so much!
I am very happy how you have paid it forward through your vlogs. I am hoping that the future ALTs who gained insights from you will pay it forward too. May not be in vlogs form but the cycle will continue...Mabuhay ang mga Pilipino. Tulungan lang dapat. :)
Hi Teacher Macs, i have some formal teaching experience since I am an Education graduate. Kaso bec i became pregnant early, and the academe doesnt pay much, nag call center ako. Now im a trainer (comms and process) for more than 10yrs na. I am 38yrs old (single mom) and can I still be considered given my age? I mean, i have teaching and training background, i drive too (i heard mataas chances pag may license, but gets placed sa rural areas and this js fine with me). Im applying this Nov and getting all info as much as i can.
Hi Iv, yes of course you have a chance. I have a batchmate here from America and he is 40 years old. Go for it! Good luck! Feel free to message when you have questions. 🙂
Teacher gud day. Are we allowed to use Japanese phrases or simple sentences for example..during the demo teaching given that we are teaching Japanese students who are beginners for example grade 1..I am imagining that some of the children might not understand me..Parang ganun po sa pagtuturo ko dati sa koreans though its online.I use basic korean phrases for them to understand me lalo na po ung beginners and afterwards encourage them to answer in English and repeat after me when needed.. Or pure English lang po tlga??Thank you..Your videos are all very helpful to all of us..
In the real classroom, yes, you can use Japanese phrases, but during the demo, no one will stop you from using them. Let me share with you though that mamy schools here would prefer you speak solely English, very simple English.
Thank you teacher..Iniisa isa ko po mga videos mo after finding out na isa po kau s mga pioneers..I am also watching and taking notes from other Filipino JETs..Sobrang laking tulong ng mga topics nyo po.GodBless..Thank you very much po ulit❤❤❤
Hi Teacher Macs! Itatanong ko lang if kailangan ba ng TESOL/TEFL cert to apply to JET? Nagbabalak kasi ako mag-apply after I take some language classes. Btw ilang taon ka nung nag-apply for JET, tsaka first time ba natanggap ka agad?
Hi teacher Macs.. deped senior high english teacher po ako sir pero 49 na by 2021.. pede pa kaya? May tsansa pa po kaya.. gurang na kase ako eh... he he
Teacher Macs do you have any info on the 2019 jets, like when they are set to leave? Im applying for 2020 and would like to know roughly when in Aug next year since the olympics will end on aug 9th.
Hi teacher mac. I just want ask what type of visa is given to all the jet program passers? Is it the humanities/English instructor visa? (if i am not mistaken) which is good for 5 yrs.
Hi Teacher Macs, Ask ko lang po if may chance ang BSED (Major in English) grad with 2 years teaching experience but not licensed yet sa JET Programme? (In addition to 3years working exp in BPO company) Thank you. ❤️
Thank you @Teacher Macs. This is really helpful 😊 I am sorry for this again, but I have 2 questions if it's okay with you. 1) We were just told about what to put as a file name of the Ppt, should we have. But, what could probably be the most appropriate subject of the email to be sent to the embassy? Are we going to have a separate email for it or just send it as a reply to their email?; 2) Are we going to make a detailed lesson plan? Or a semi-detailed one will do? Thank you so much po 😊 Hope to hear from you.
@@TeacherMacs Sorry if this is an absurd question. But if we bring materials for our demo, no matter the size, the guards won't confiscate them, right? 😁
@@TeacherMacs haha sorry po napaka stupid ng questions ko 😆 and another thing po pala, will we use a white board for demo? Or a typical blackboard? Pretty sure we aren't allowed to use double-sided tapes, are we? 😁
Good day, Teacher Macs. Pls advice me, yun pong part sa application form na "international/ intercultural experience (at home/ abroad)" ano po bang dpat ilagay? Salamat

Hi, those certifications are not required but may give you extra credit. I applied last year. Im 33. Yes, I applied once. Go try 🙂
Hi teacher Macs.. deped senior high english teacher po ako sir pero 49 na by 2021.. pede pa kaya? May tsansa pa po kaya.. gurang na kase ako eh... he he
Hi Karla, before 40 yrs old age limit, pero hindi na sya indicated ngayon sa guidelines, so try mo wala nmn mawawala. :)
Kapit lang para sa JET 2020♥️ Teacher Macs ask ko lang po kung anong format po ng LP ang gamit? Thanks po😊
Hi Sherwin, no required format. 🙂
Teacher Macs do you have any info on the 2019 jets, like when they are set to leave? Im applying for 2020 and would like to know roughly when in Aug next year since the olympics will end on aug 9th.
They will leave on Sunday, August 4th. Next year there will be a change due to the Olympics. We still have no idea yet.
Hi Teacher Macs! Just curious, may I know what topic did you choose for your demo lesson? :)
Japanese greetings in English like Ohayou Gozaimasu = Good morning. Very simple lesson. :)
@@TeacherMacs thank you for replying! Ganbarimasu!
Hi Teacher Macs. For the demonstration, is it all right to start at the lesson proper? Also, is the lesson plan detailed? Thanks a lot.
Hi Maricel, LP can be semi detailed. complete sana for demo, ok lng di matapos. but since online, complete but shortened is ideal.
@@TeacherMacs Thanks a lot, Teacher Macs. God bless and stay safe. 😇
Teacher Macs just wanna ask if a licensed teacher without experience can be qualified? Then di po English major. BEED po. Pwede po ba?
Yes pwdeng pwede. 🙂
Thank you po ng marami. Mabuhay!
Thank you for the tips, Teacher Macs. I applied last month. I hope I get into the JET 2020. So anxious na. Haha.

Hi Aries, we were given an Instructor visa valid for 3 yrs.

Ask ko lang po if may chance ang BSED (Major in English) grad with 2 years teaching experience but not licensed yet sa JET Programme? (In addition to 3years working exp in BPO company)
Thank you. ❤️
Hi Dhan, hindi ko na clearly maalala ung list ng qualifications, please check the website. Di ko maalala kung kailangan licensed. All the best! :)
If your JET programme contract has ended, can you still apply as an ALT thru private recruitment agencies or dispatch?
Yes! That's what I plan on doing. 🙂
Do they conduct interviews in the Embassy of Japan in Davao?
Only in Manila ☺
