So glad that you emphasized the importance of technique... some people get so caught up in the technicalities. Your eyes and technique will take you very far...
Thanks Pye! Love your videos. I bought (4) 3x4ft foamboards from Hobby Lobby and taped them together with white duct tape. They fold into quarter like V-flat world's do. My foldable V-flat cost me a total of $32
I love how candid and chill you are Pye. Keep that up. I think some guys who shall not be named, used to call this cove lighting where they would use garages or doorway entrances and stuff to get portraits or headshots. It works so well!
Hello Pye, Kiara, and Adorama thank you for the great video, I really like that you used the 70-200mm with settings shown. This is really helpful, I know more goes into producing the images but the settings, and the lighting are a good start. Enjoy a great and wonderful day.
Wow these shots are amazing.I can't believe that you gave an indoor shoot output though u did it just by natural light Thank you for this wonderful technique
Thanks Pye for another great video. Love all your videos. I learnt a lot in this video as well especially taking better pictures using your phone . Thanks to you & Kiara for this video.
It's not just a matter of technique; there's a model here who knows how to pose, is well-prepared and made up. Do the same thing without those elements, and the result will be different.
Love how you show how to perform Lightroom mods on your phone on the fly. Would like to see how you import your presets - are they the same as what you use on your computer?. As good as shooting on the R5. And it doesn't hurt that you had Kiara as your model.
Very nice and relaxed walk through of techniques. I have really come to enjoy your tutorials and my thanks to Adorama ( where I buy my stuff ). You must not own an Audi as I don't see pools of oil on the garage floor. Thanks to Kiara, so pretty. Thanks, Ted in Sebastian, Fl.
hi. I currently have a setup in my own garage but I want to improve it, make better use of the space and make it look better overall so I feel ok inviting models in and not look like some dingy garage. If I was to send you photos of my space and what I have, would you be able to help me figure out the best way forward with what I got and what I should look to invest in? cheers.
Hello Pye .... I watching you at 15:00 where you are working with your iphone, it brought back an old memory. I thought I saw years ago where a photographer would check his photo setup first by taking a shot with a poloriod. Is that what iPhone photography is like? But we have more control with our modern phones.
With the Polaroid the shot was made because the shoot would be done with a film camera and you couldn't look at a test shot or shots the way you can with modern digital cameras. A test shot with a separate camera is no longer necessary. Also, while the result from the phone looks good on video or even viewing side by side, when an in-depth comparison is done or when printing the image the image taken with the phone will be very inferior.... usually.
Interestingly the iPhone shot made her thinner looking compared to the pro setup. Well, we all know the iPhone gives you more sharpness, so her hands and buttons are sharper vs pro setup. For studio portraits, I prefer the whole subject to be sharp. For the background, I seem to go either way sharp or out of focus, depending on the background. Other than the color (temp) of the background, I like the iPhone photo. Thanks
This is good content, although I wish it was truly shot inside the paramaters of the garage, rather than use the outside to back-up and out of the space to achieve more dept of field.
I like to see that idea for a full body. How Small, I did it back in the days with background about 4 feet wide with a telephoto lens. A poster board would work for the background. You could do a headshot portrait in a small space by shooting on your back with the subject bent towards the camera, just remember to keep the lens and subject on the same plane. LOL, the ceiling became the backdrop.
This guy is the best teacher i've seen on youtube so far

I cracked up at the trash can joke at 1:26! I love all of Pye Jirsa's free photography tutorials, but his dry humor here was spot on.
Awesome video, Pye! Thank you.
This was a splendid and concise tutorial.

I have been using my garage for several years now. I just need better heat for the Midwest USA winters.
Same! It's hard to find good heating for a non-insulated garage.
Wow these shots are amazing.I can't believe that you gave an indoor shoot output though u did it just by natural light Thank you for this wonderful technique
These videos are so helpful for my small boutique pics
Just bought me a mini building 12x32 to build my studio I am so excited

Awesome! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing.
So is the next video a tutorial on making v flats from poster board?
It's not just a matter of technique; there's a model here who knows how to pose, is well-prepared and made up. Do the same thing without those elements, and the result will be different.
Great tips Pye
Soooooo. Pye, since the first day I found your videos on RUclips… I’ve been learning more and more. However….its the PacMan socks for the win!!!! 😂😂😂
How about doing a DIY negative fill? My mother-in-law in black?
5:53 Pac-Man socks! :D
Keeping it simple. Excellent. Will you be at Shutter Fest 2022 this year? Will Adorama be there?

You have a big garage, its 4 times bigger than mine.
Is it the same for 35mm film cameras as with digital in principle.
👏👏👏👏 for Kiara........
Hi!!! Where I can buy your presets? They are beautiful !🤟🏼

Nice! Liked and subbed
Cool demo 😎

Now I just need to get a garage.
This is good content, although I wish it was truly shot inside the paramaters of the garage, rather than use the outside to back-up and out of the space to achieve more dept of field.
Garage is bigger than my house.....
I used to shoot on phone thinking it was great until i got a pro cam and the difference is huge... Especially in print and for detailed designs
Very helpful
Thanks sir ji
I love these type of videos . Make more with less.
What dimensions is that stool?
nice

D O P E !
My wife did this and landed on the cover of a magazine!
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Kiara 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I don't know if you've already done a video on shooting with an APSC sensor camera. Many people look down on it, and it shouldn't be.
👍🏼
This girl would give you beautiful images even with the trash cans as background and a built in flash as a light source...
Can you do a turn your small apartment into a professional portrait studio tut

Great videos but my garage is about 9 feet wide.
☺️👍🏻
No flashmeter ?!?? It's NUTS !
step one should be how to clean out your garage so that the subject can actually sit inside
who need a proper dslr or mirrorless camera when u have iphone. should have sold my canon for iphone.
Ain’t got a garage
There's no such thing as a cheap vflat 😒😒😒
