    To anyone who wants to become a nurse, don't go to school in California. Go to Florida and finish your ADN for 20k in 2 years. Take your nclex for Florida B.O.N then endorse it to California B.O.N. You will get the same RN license for 100k dollars cheaper. This is a life hack not everyone knows about.

      I went to school in CA. I got my ADN at my local community college, with financial aid and scholarships, I didn't pay much at all. I worked for about a year or two, then went for my BSN also im CA. I worked and didn't need to take out a loan or anything, I don't remember if I got financial aid if I did probably not too much. No debt though. It can be done in CA.

      @@monicawilson8075 Problem with community college is people are fighting for the same credits and classroom spots, sometimes you end up delaying because you have to be waitlisted. I tried doing it in las positas college and loss motivation so I did lvn private school first in fremont california, then went to rn school in florida while working as lvn full time. The pros of going to a private nursing college is convenience and time. Also it is designed to help you pass the nclex while in school rather than doing credits 1 by 1.

    Becoming a nurse is a very rewarding job for the person who IS serious about Caring and Helping patients when they are in their most vulnerable state. The whole world needs very good and dedicated nurses who will treat the patient with absolute care. There are unfortunately many people who come into this profession just for the money and they don't care about the patient, as some mistreat the patient, and as we've seen in news reports, they actually take the patients life. Good information and we hope more good nurses appreciate the profession and not look at just the money aspect.

You will still be taking work home but it is 1,000 percent less stress and you are a resource for the patient and family once you get familiar with different services to help them. It is extremely rewarding. Love this vid. I typically alternate between travel ICU, HH and ER freestanding

      I don't understand "getting used to the Oasis" Many ppl tell me they do the SOC in 1 hr, but I don't see how you can plan a through POC in 1 hr. I started HH out of school & over 10 years I only got slower as my assessment skill and understanding of medicare requirements grew. I see lots of "top" agency nurses visit 10 pts/day, dump time consuming wound pts on co-workers, and sit on months if incomplete documentation that is clearly fraudulent when they finally do it. I have never been able to DC one of these nurses' pt when I happen to cover for them - it's always a recert for 90% Dz process knowledge deficits.

    Go into nursing or Physician assistant? Please give me you’r opinion!

    • @NursesToRiches
      @NursesToRiches  Год назад +16

      I would personally choose nursing because the job opportunities are endless. And, how many Chief Physician Assistant Officers do you know in a hospital setting? The answer: none. There's a reason why hospitals have Chief Nursing Officers and not Chief Physician Assistant Officers. Nurses make up the bulk of the budget in most health care facilities. And, as a nurse you can make way more money than a physician assistant.

    Does your 401K follow you from job to job? Im in nursing school and I only plan on being in my currently state for 2 years before moving to a different state. Should I invest or max my 401K when I get my first job or when I move?

    • @NursesToRiches
      @NursesToRiches  Год назад +6

      Your 401k does not automatically roll over from one job to another but you can roll it over yourself and bring the funds over to your new job's 401k by completing a form through your old 401k brokerage firm. But, yes, you should start maxing out your 401k right away.

      If you've student loans, then pay off the loans first because of the interest upon graduating. If you do not have loans then I would max out personal IRA. Independent from employer. You can ask for a 1 dollar more a hour bc employer not contributing there "1-3%" and save the remaining you would had use to max out for 401k towards an emergency fund

    I have a question about the OT after 8 hrs. Does it apply to all facilities of CA? Or does the job position you applied to have to be an 8hr position in order to be paid OT after 8hrs? What if you signed up for a 12hr position? I'm so used to 12 hr shifts having 4days off and I would like to keep it like that lol. And just sign up extra if I feel like it. Work less time for more money.

    I dislike how numbers that most put up in the 6 digit region is the most unrealistic for those not living in the most populous states in the US. Thumbnails appear misleading and in a way convey a vain, self-seeking, monetary objective to working as a nurse.
    Unsubbed.
