Nice looking hat. Bet it keeps your head warm on a cold day. When I lived on the north coast there was a Western ware shop that way in the back corner had a Stetson hat section with a zillion styles of hats. Best to you in the New Year.
That’s a cool looking hat! My grandpa used to wear that style hat! I’m gonna have to get one of those! My issue is getting the size right! I have an enormous brain container!😂
This hat brings so many memories of a time when "gentleman" ( my deceased father included ) wore a hat for every ocasion. My father left this world over thirty years ago. When we finally moved from the old house to our new digs, My "hipster" nephew immediately embraced my father's hat AND refused to part with it!
Hopefully they will make a comeback! I remember as a kid people took more care in how they dressed. Different times. I remember people getting dressed up when they flew too. Now people wear pajamas on airplanes.
Became familiar with the Stetson whippet during the 60s when my father would pull his outta the closet. Decades later, I bought a full fur reissue Stetson Whippet, and have it to this day. Great hat; BUT, why buy wool when beaver/rabbit fur is so much more durable and warmer? The fur felt whippet IS still available although it lists for near $250. /shrug
Great memories. Wool was all my budget would allow for now but I think I see fur felt in my future. I may save up for a Stratoliner next. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thank you for taking the time & effort to make a video showing off the Whippet. He's right though, if you like the wool, you LOVE the fur/felt! Just bought my 1st felt fedora. Wearing it everywhere I go except work.
When Did Stetson start making wool hats? Living in a humid very rainy place I do not bother with wool hats, no matter how cheap. When I was a working musician I bought and wore wool pork pie hats for the stage, because they were cheap and hats got lost and frequently stolen, usually by women, when on the road. But for hats not intended for stage wear I don't buy wool hats. They tend to get fuzzy and look crappy in a year or so of normal wear. Maybe they have improved the wool felt in the last few years. Looking at online hat stores, I see some that sell mostly wool fedoras. American stores selling mostly to Americans. I am not criticizing your purchase, there are plenty of reasons to buy wool hats, I am just surprised that Stetson is making and selling wool hats. Though I am probably just exposing my ignorance here. :) I tend to buy hats from Australia and or Europe these days.
I’m not sure how long they’ve been making them. Yes I agree that it’s a fair weather hat. If I pick up another I’ll go for a Stratoliner. Thanks for watching and sharing.
I live in the country, and even tho there are hat retailers that are about an hour away from me, I do all of my hat purchases online because of the the constant threats of the local Zulu warriors. . So far, I have had to return one because of being too small.
"constant threat of local zulu warriors"? we all know what you're referring to and as a black man i'm offended !!..... but i did get a little chuckle though 😂😂

After owning four Stratoliners, I decided I wanted an every day hat to just wear around whenever, so I ordered a Whippet. What a mistake! This hat is like cheap cardboard and just screams of Stetson cutting corners and outsourcing their hat making. I ordered a XXL and as usual Stetson’s sizing is inconsistent. It had the fit of a large and wouldn’t even go down on my head. My four Stratoliners are various sizes which pisses me off. Do not buy this hat if you’re looking for a quality hat. I am finally closing the door on buying Stetsons. They are clearly not the quality they used to be and they don’t seem to care. Never order one on line. Go to a store to make sure the sizing is right. Fortunately I got my others while in hat stores in Austin, Texas. I ran to my computer to get a return label to the tune of $10 to return this piece of junk.
I do wish I had gone to a store to try some on in person. I think I may have spent a little more and got a stratoliner. I also wish it were actual hat sized instead of just small medium and large. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience with us.
@@SigogglinJack yeah I took a gamble with the generic sizing and seriously paid the price. I sized up and figured I’d use spacers if necessary and it was still too small. Definitely treat yourself to a Stratoliner while they still seem to be decently made. You will never buy another Whippet if you do it. The clock is probably ticking on those too, unfortunately.
Just ordered one myself, been looking for awhile but your video sealed the deal. Thanks for the video brother.
Thanks for watching my videos Jerry. Let us know what you think of it when it arrives! Stay warm wherever you are.
@@SigogglinJack Got my hat in today and am very satisfied with it.

@@SigogglinJack How will you get that hat
"blocked"?
@markescartin6613 if I ever had to I’d take it to a professional. I’d probably mess it up. Thanks!
Nice review. Just a slight note, the whippet is a ¼” narrower one the brim than the Stratoliner. The Whippet also comes in the deluxe version fur.
Thanks for watching!
Cool hat..I have like 40 baseballs hats but mostly rock a Carhartt winter hat till it warms up..thanks for sharing !60 yo? I’m right behind you lol !

@undreahankins8194 Thanks for watching. I’ll have to try a fur felt next time. I’d like to try the Stratoliner next.
I wear a baseball cap 90 percent of the time. Maybe I should consider something like this but I dress so casual that it might look awkward.
I look pretty awkward anyway so I don’t worry 😄. Have a great New Year buddy!!
Look into the crushable wool felt hats. Stetson makes very nice ones and they are intended for casual wear as well.
@@jwgbmp40 I’ll do that. Thanks. And thanks for watching!
Wool felt does not always handle rain very well. In fact, wool felt can look pretty crappy after a couple of wettings.
I’d agree. It’s a fair weather hat for sure. 👍 thanks for watching brother
Nice hat
Thanks David. And thanks for watching.
I need this hat !!!
It’s not bad for the price. Thanks for watching
