    Just a little advise from one fly fisherman to another. Im not sure what kind of fly rod your using, but you may want to go to 5 weight or lighter. On water that small i may use a 3 weight honestly. When your fishing creeks that skinny and clear, you may want to try and go lighter leaders. I would start at 5x and maybe go to 6x or 7x. And make your leader a little longer, if those fish see fisherman with any regularity you may need a 12 foot leader and still crouch down or hide your silhouette when casting. I dont know the creek, but im guessing there are mayflies, caddis and possibly some versions of stone flies there. You may want to try nymphs of those. And if it's sunny, stay away from flashy bead heads. You make great videos and i love watching them. Tight lines from Montana.

      Believe it or not I do good on small wooly boogers this time of year here in Michigan nymphs and similar small dark Flys are always a good starting point

    • @Sauron124
      @Sauron124 6 месяцев назад +4

      I second this advice, for smaller fish and smaller streams 5wt or below is ideal, 5wt basically usable everywhere so i recommend that, 5wt can also use most flies effectively. 5wt’s are essentially the all around rod’s

      @jeffhough7460 As soon as I typed it, I knew I forgot a fly and Wooley bugger is it. That fly works everywhere. It mimics everything. Good catch

      @@gbutler8949 they sure do, wooly buggers work on bass, trout of any size and species, and even panfish, in my opinion the wooly bugger is the most productive fly

    Another amazing looking creek. I really like the places you takes us. you made that fly rod look too easy even with the problems you had... I can barely cast a fly rod and have almost no idea the names of the flies. "We got the fly rod snagged almost immediately"... yeah that's how mine would have gone too. Thanks for taking us along, Nick! Hope you have a great Holiday! Cheers!

    Thoroughly frowned apon in the UK, but a drifting worm (night crawler), especially if the water has some colour, is a potent weapon, particularly drifting into slack water or back eddies.
    Great vids and scenery, Nick, and ever the optimist 👍

    Few flies i found work really REALLY well for smaller fish that are wild. Size 18-20 micro eggs, Midge pupa size 20, and peridgons size 16-18. Colors may vary depending on the area, sometimes you just gotta throw everything at them till something kicks them off.

    I like using a dry fly for a bobber and a longer leader, especially when you see a little hatch like that going on. I find the bobbers make way too much commotion when they hit that low, clear water.

    Try using a dry fly. There was a hatch of flies in the video. Choose a dry fly that closely matches the hatch. It's really fun watching the trout go after the fly.
