Doesn't it seem like this game is awfully long for a beat em up? A runthrough of most comparable SNES belt scrollers would be in the 40 minute range. Your own Knights of the Round runthrough is 45 minutes, this must have a lot of padding!
The only thing I didn't like about Mutant Apocalypse is the Street Fighter-like commands to use your powers, but I remember getting the game for my birthday in 1995 and loving it.
39:23 is the most memorable part of the game for me. It's the part where my older cousins and I got stuck for months. We forgot about the game, and I played one day and accidentally grabbed that almost invisible, climbable surface. Thanks for the video.
This is why I subscribe to NintendoComplete and World of Longplays. Even on my favorite systems there's games that I would've never even heard of if not for these respective channels. Keep up the good work!
Oh man! As soon as the floating head of Void appeared and you started the first level, all the memories of seeing this game before came flooding back. This game represents one of the things I miss the most about the 90s, which was that the worst things got with things in movies, comic books and video games was that they merely seemed to be rip-offs of other things sometimes. Everything feels so neurotic right now it's nauseating. If you dare to say you enjoy something for entertainment's sake these days, beware.
What the hell are you talking about? I grew up in the 90's and nothing you said makes any damn sense outside of sounding Snobbish. As far as comic book movies where, you got the Batman series which around this time turned into Batman Forever and Batman and Robin,.. Seriously the 90's was not a good decade for comic book movies outside of Blade and only got better recently.
Hey WildCATS fans! Are you only fans of Spartan, Maul, and Warblade? Then this is the game for you! Who cares what Grifter, Voodoo, and Zealot are up to! Using any of the other characters might have forced some creativity in the game design. Also props to the senior tech. If not-Hulk asked me for my password I'd give it to him. If not immediately, then absolutely after the first punch. And definitely not only after a solid minute of thrashing.
Instead, they decided to get Tommy Tallarico, best known for his work at Virgin Games (not to mention being Sir Richard Branson’s biggest supporter at Virgin) and his own company, to do the music and sounds.
X-MEN THE ANIMATED SERIES was done by Saban ent with korean studio AKOM Production (which also work on several eps of Batman TAS) doing the Animation a tight budget! WildC.A.T.S. Was done by famous Canadian animation company Nelvana (care bears, The Care Bears Movie, Star Wars Holiday Special animated segment, Beetlejuice, Star Wars: Ewoks, Clone High,)
ahhh the 90's comics speculator bubble where literally every week a cookie cuttter "dark" "hero" team was fartted out, everyone was grim and "angry", had clenched teeth like there badly constipated, the token females where drawn without spines, everyone had "youngblood's disease", and had way to many pouches that was needed i remember linkara talking about these guys before
Ah yes, the glory days of Pouchitis and Zipper's Disease. It was a terrible time to be a comic hero. Even Superman spent one terrible AU comic looking like Militia Santa and yelling "I AM A MAN" and punching people.
I actually enjoyed alot of the 90's characters even though Image's early line-up were all X-Men rip offs, only because the characters would actually take care of the bad guys and "not let me put this person in prison for the hundredth time even though I know that they will escape and kill who knows how many people before I stop them again." Having seen some of Linkara's creator owned works he really isn't in a place to talk about anyone.
This game is such a wasted opportunity. You can only play as 3 characters, and even then 1 at a time, when there were similar games out at the same time where you could play as 2 people at a time. The enemies are repetitive and boring and not even designated well for the different stages. And for Spartan to have such a weak ass jump when he can FLY is really inexcusable.
13 episodes. The only episode I really liked was the one where Spartan has to come to terms with the fact that he'll have to be a cyborg and give up his old life.
@@Nbjk01 They have to keep Voodoo safe because she is the chosen one, the one who can expel daemonites from human bodies. That and something about some orbs of power that the main bad guy needed for generic bad guy plot number 1,001.
@@Nbjk01 @Nbjk01 yeah and voodoo is basically Phoenix she has great power but doesn't exploit them, Hellspont basically wants to do what The Lizard in Spider-man wanted to do and turn all humans into daemonites. Voodoo came into play again she basically has x-ray like vision
Shame that that this cookie cutter dreck came out of the same company that gave us Earthworm Jim. Granted Beam Software was the developer, but funny enough even though it was a different style, was a horrible mess, and can came out for a platform below it I.E. the NES at least a few years earlier; I'd still rather play Beam Software's other dark superhero game Nightshade: The Claw of Sutek because at the very least it was a more interesting game. Like Freddy Got Fingered it's better to be so bad your remembered for all time than to be so mediocre that you get taken out with next week's trash.

the sound effects team looks really lazy with everyone and everything sounding as if they used effect even the big boobied amazons sound just as manly as the nerds lol
"Should we make Grifter and Zealot, the two most popular characters, playable?"
"Nah, it'll be fine!"
Right, this game kinda blows.
And it should have been two-player
WildCATS is a serviceable beat 'em up, but X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse does the same style gameplay far, far better.
Are you talking about the game or the RUclips channel 🤣
Doesn't it seem like this game is awfully long for a beat em up? A runthrough of most comparable SNES belt scrollers would be in the 40 minute range. Your own Knights of the Round runthrough is 45 minutes, this must have a lot of padding!
@@999apeman You're right, it's too long for its own good. There are definitely worse offenders out there though, The Tick being a good example.
Hell yeah it does!

This was my childhood
The only aspect of this property that’s memorable is the theme song for the animated series. It’s really funny and pure, 100% early 90’s cheese.
That theme is awesome! Just like the Skeleton Warriors one!
REALLY
BATMAN TAS WAS EARLY 90S AND IT WAS GREAT
WILDCATS WAS MADE IN MID 90S AND BY THE CANADIAN STUDIO BEHIND THE CARE BEARS!
when ppl refer to classic things from my past as "cheese" it never sits right for me

:) Thanks! I'm glad you're still discovering new stuff. All these years later, so many of them are still so good.
No playable Grifter is a major bummer.

Wildcats and spawn, great comics great games
all the female characters have insane bodies.. Jim Lee knows whats up
I didn’t play this game much as a kid but always appreciated the theme from the show being included
1:20: The NFL on Nickelodeon theme song!
It's crazy that Wild C.A.T.S had a video game.

You read my mind. Let's show the bad ass character sprites for half the team...only for them not to be playable! WTF!
When I saw the lab technician as a mini-boss I had to laugh.
Curious that they didn't get Marshall Parker to do the audio in-house. Guess he must have been busy

After decades, 😢 my childhood! ❤❤❤
Who dislikes a video of someone playing video game....wtf 😆
It may be the game itself that they are disliking, lol.
We're heroes! Not zeros!
Yeah, you tell 'em, buddy. Lmao
In the words of Vanilla Ice in that cinematic classic, Cool as Ice, "Ditch the zero, and get with the hero".
Sweet game! Mad I never got to play back in the day
This feels like a weird clunky hybrid between double dragon and X men
Or like a dollar store version of Mutant Apocalypse.
Imagine if Insomniac games got their hands on this
I disagree with you : Spartan share more a resemblance with Arnold Schwarzenegger in his bodybuilding days.
Nice looking beat’em up.
Was the cartoon animated by the same people as X-men? It looks similar.

there's actually a Swat Kats game it was decent
@Oren Black it was that bad?
Dope af!
Joe Exotic’s Wild C.A.T.S.
"Wild CATS: The Carole Conspiracy"
If only the last boss was a blowup doll that you had to stuff with dynamite.
Have you done a walkthrough for Fighting Force 2?
I seriously dislike that game.. it's a cool game on its own right but following ff1.. terrible decisions were made
Man, no grifter... :(
hm the characters bear resemblence to X-COM UFO Defense's muton and the soldiers 2nd level outfits.
Jim Lee's Wild C.A.T.S
👍👍👍👍

was there another Wild C.A.T.Z game? because I clearly remember these characters, but being able to play the female with white hair...
A quick question because I honestly don't know; Is Jim Lee related to Stan Lee? Just wondering.

A group of heroes and only one is playable weird why are they even there then.
Este jogo ficaria bem melhor se fosse mais fluído e pra 2 jogadores. Eu ainda tenho a história em quadrinhos n°1 até hoje. :)

every aspect is important. not sure why the sound editors get so lazy..

Only 3 playable characters, doesn't even let you use the most popular characters and only 1 player? This sucks.
