It's not everyday that you'll see someone with a personal metal lathe in their home in Vietnam. Imagine what he can build if he has access to higher end tools! I love the choice of water cooled electric motor with planetary gearing, custom lathe work and practicality of the bike frame/seat. The rider balance is perfect as well. Incredibly good work on the foam, fiberglassing and wing additions. This is a phenomenal diy and something to be proud of. I personally hope you progress this idea into something more and even a business. Keep up the great work!

This is a wholesome comment but I'm not sure how you know the lathe was in their home. People like this will go to their friends or industrial shops to use the high end tools that they don't have.... well that's what I do anyways.

    Плюсы видны.
    Скажу о минусах:

Exactly, I'm in Croatia and I'm looking for a good lathe to buy. You need space and first of all electricity. This smells not total amateur but the glass fiber job was horrible, and you dont weld like that. Also need a table because of future health problems, knees, back everything. Also this is quite dangerous floater, a wave and your "boat" cracks and the cracks cut your lims. Really? Safety? Not? Lol.

Beautifully done. I've owned a boat for fifty of my 78 years. I once owned a Styrofoam sail boat. It was just a "play thing" for use on the nearby lake - fun. Worked well and I often thought about putting fiberglass on it but never got to it. In this case I would shield the pipe, prop and rudder and protect any point where water could get into the electronics. Small gets bigger so I would figure out how to make the wings removable and add more depth. I don't think that would be difficult to do. Not sure how long it runs but the longer the better. I could see these being used competitively on the lake by people everywhere. One becomes many and it doesn't take long for the enhancements to come. Next question, how can I use it to fish out of and troll with? I would have to be able to change the gear ratio of the prop as needed.... Thanks. Nice job!!!!!

What this boat needs in V2.0 is a short boom off the bottom, with a horizonal stabilizer/wing, so that once you're up to full speed you lean back and balance the boat up onto the hydroplane wing. Then you could go about twice the top speed, if you felt like it. That would be an exciting ride too since you've already got your body motion inputs figured out, because he's built this boat around a bicycle frame. That's perfect then all he has to do is consider front-to-back weight distribution, and he could actually turn this craft into a hydroplane craft.

If the boat could be stored upright on the back of a US truck or car with 2 wheel carrier it could create a new market niche as Honda did with their early Scooters. Very nice!
