Sounds good to me. Just replace it all with a flat 10% sales tax(with 3% going to the Feds). Abolish all other taxes/fees/mandates/welfare/subsidies. Politicians would no longer get to bribe Voters with free stuff.

Just because some people don't have kids doesn't mean they don't have young people that they love. For example, nieces, nephews, and kids of friends and neighbors. The premise that having no offspring equals no investment in America is just false. There is also investment in businesses and political movements that count as investments in America's future by those who either cannot have children or chose to not have children.

I wanted to go to a protest against nuclear waste here in Taiwan. The Foreign Affairs Police told me that, while, as a foreigner, I couldn't take part in political protests, but because I had children under 18 who were Taiwanese citizens, I could take part in environmental protests as a proxy voice for their future. I don't know if this was true, or they just wanted to brush off an annoying foreigner.
It may be in place to prevent groups of Chinese operatives from infiltrating or initiating protests to influence their goverment. China would absolutely do that to undermine their independence.

The libertarian article points out that children are not competent to vote: therefore parents cannot vote ON BEHALF of the child, by the article's own admission. It's just extra votes for parents in order to undermine the democratic norm of one-person-one-vote.
The first thing I though is there would be some lawyer that would go to court arguing that the child's right to vote is being obstructed. Possible leading to children given the right to vote as they chose.
So do orphans not get a vote? What if the parents are split up? Which parent get to vote for a child?
Imagine how it would have gone over if men told the Suffragettes "OK ladies, we'll give you the vote. But only to married women and your husband gets to vote for you..."

Not only because of that demographic being more likely to vote for Democrats in the first place, but also because conservative parents might actually engage with their children about politics. They might ponder way more than they do now about the consequences of the votes and at least some might talk to their (somewhat older) children about their views and what and whom they want the parents to vote for. It might allow a lot of conservative parents to view politics through the eyes of the youngest generations and all the future problems they will have to face.
I think it might gain Democrats more votes than Republicans and maybe even peel off a lot of unengaged voters who vote Republican only because of it being a tradition in the family since Lincoln.
So, maybe let's do this. And maybe let's lower the voting age to get that burden off the parents as early as possible.
Children are not represented by their government. And maybe that should change.
