I really really wanted to check this out for a long time and it lived up to the hype! It was just great seeing Godzilla face a foe that was actually really terrifying and looks more evil than himself. Glad Godzilla is on our side though! Enjoy :)

33:33 You laugh at this, but there is a lore behind this.
In Toho movies, there is a twin fairies priestesses that is always associated with Mothra, called Shobijin. They also have a strong telepathic connection to Mothra.
In KOTM/Monsterverse, and as it revealed, right before Ghidorah’s, Dr. Ilene is a 3rd Generation Monarch agents along her twin. It’s kind of hard to tell on the first watch, but her twin, Dr. Ling Chen, also appeared in the movie. She is at the waterfall when Mothra first bust out of her cocoon. We known this because at the time Dr. Ilene Chen is still on Argo, and nowhere near China.
Also, here is another fun fact about Mothra. She dies a lot, but Mothra have reincarnation going where another Mothra is born when one is dead, and the new one will have the memories of the previous. That’s why, one of the newspapers clipping at the end said they found another Mothra’s egg
This movie was and will forever be my number 1 cinema experience, the soundtrack, the lore, the story, the visuals, it’s all just absolutely awe inspiring. TEAM GODZILLA!!!
Which makes me more angry that I didn’t get to see it in theaters.
@@mrgodzillaraptors8632 it truly was unforgettable, I’m upset FOR you 😭
I watched this in a 4DX theater, and it was AMAZING! You felt EVERY MONSTER STEP! The Movie Theater also had weather effects, fake snow and rain! It was like being on a Godzilla ride!
@@ShilohSmith if I saw it in theaters, and didn’t rewatch it to many times, I probably would love it more
@@bloodzerox20 ok that’s just amazing. If I saw it like that, it would be the greatest movie I’ve ever seen
I always saw Godzilla as indifferent to humans. Everything he does and all the fighting is to restore balance and the natural order, and protecting humans along the way is just a byproduct. I do agree though, is he tired of people like, oh great here's these damn humans again causing trouble and making me clean up their mess. He has people trying to kill him one moment then another group trying to help him another moment, so it definitely speaks to his intelligence that he can differentiate between who's who.
iirc according to the novel, Kong did hear Ghidorah's call but he couldn't give a fuck to get to him cause, what is he supposed to do? Swim all the way there? 🤣
Other Titans that weren't flyers or waterbased def swam there. Kong just didn't care lol
Their use of the "Oxygen Destroyer" in this movie had me horrified, because in the Toho movies, not only was it in itself an absolutely terrifying weapon but it also gave birth to arguably one of Godzilla's most powerful and dangerous enemies.
The guy who did the music for this movie, Bear McCreary, understood the love and reverence fans had for these monsters when he made their themes. He made each monster's themes powerful, thematic to their character and particularly in Mothra's case, simply beautiful while emulating her theme from previous movies.
(Fun fact, Bear is also the same guy who made the soundtrack for God of War PS4 and Ragnarok. The dude understands *_power_* like no other).
Destroyah's likely mutating underneath the ocean in monsterverse. Destroyah took a lot of time to be born
@@BinodiniMahapatra-pz7vv This... is very true. I had not considered how long it took.
Destoroyah*@@BinodiniMahapatra-pz7vv
I know critics didn't like this movie because they wanted to see Godzilla to fight Ghidorah, which made them wait 5 years for it to happen, but I enjoyed it very much with my family.
Godzilla did fight Ghidorah
@@davidthekid75 the things fans don't like is that the fight wasn't really full screen and had a lot of cut and off screen a lot
@@SheraXGDyea bcoz of the cuts the fights were to that much enjoyable as much it could have been.
They literally fight 3 times, and it’s always absolutely epic. From someone who was disappointed and bored by G2014, I thought KOTM was a huge improvement. You could still see the fights even when the focus was on humans, which gave an amazing sense of scale (which GvK lacked). KOTM is still the absolute peak of the monsterverse imo
@@valou-scalingI think a big issue to is the marketing showed all the big moments, there was no surprise like in 2014 I actually didn’t watch anything past the main trailer for gvk & it was a much better experience than KOTM
It isn't that Godzilla is protective of humanity, he's protective of the planet and its ecosystems. In turn, we benefit from that protection. Godzilla will attack any perceived threat to the planet... even if that's humans. This will be made a little more clear in GvK.
He didn't attack all the humans lol just apex facility who were making mecha g and using gidorah head
@sastaassh1112 Yes, I know, I never said he attacked ALL humans. Simply said he would attack anything he feels is a threat to the planet, even if that means humans.
Seeing Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan and king Ghidorah on the big screen with all their backstories and abilities in check and hearing the classic Godzilla and Mothra themes is every Godzilla fan dream come true 🔥🔥🔥. 28:32 eh short of. Remember Godzilla is mostly protecting earth. Humanity is low on his list that needs protection. 33:57 you really forgot that rodan was also in Washington DC? Really?
Ngl, every time Mothra was on screen in full moth form, I couldn't stop crying.
She's just so big and majestic and perfect.
This is the BEST Godzilla movie in my opinion. The story, the sound, the ROAR...the fact they used Mothra in conjunction with Godzilla to take out Ghidora...the fact that they emphasized that Ghidora is NOT a monster from our planet. It is an alien! Godzilla always has to prove he is NOT the bad guy, Godzilla actually is a good guy in the end. He destroys cities cause he is basically so big. Hard to travel without destroying stuff with them big feet, and tail...LOL. TEAM GODZILLA!! LONG...LIVE...THE...KING!!!!!
Wrong. Objectively.
Godzilla is neutral, he isn't good or bad. But, yea easily the best movie in the monsterverse
Plus Bear Mcreary gives us the best music in the Monsterverse
Definitely my favorite of the MonsterVerse movies so far. I'm so glad I saw it in the theatres, because the visuals are absolutely gorgeous. I also liked that they finally gave Mothra a real offensive weapon.
There's also a callback to the original (1954) 'Godzilla.' The Doctor Serizawa character in 1954 created the Oxygen Destroyer, which destroyed Godzilla, and allowed it to kill HIM, to make sure the Oxygen Destroyer could never be re-created. The Doctor Serizawa in this film sacrifices his life to SAVE Godzilla.
This is the highlight of Monsterverse, Godzilla vs Kong has a very noticable drop in writing quality especially with human characters.
"Our world will parish unless we set Godzilla free!". I still don't understand why the writers changed it.
They didn't change it. It was an intentional mislead in the trailer.
Ever since Infinity War, companies have started to edit the trailers to mislead specific details of the film.
There were a HUGE amount of Easter Eggs in this film, referencing not only the original Toho films, but the previous film as well. The character "Dr Serizawa" was named after the character that killed Godzilla with a weapon called "the Oxygen Destroyer" in the original 1954 film. Not only that, but the reason Serizawa died the the way he did was not only a call back to the 1954 film, but the previous 2014 Godzilla film, where Serizawa tried to touch the unconscious Gojira, only for the beast to awaken and walk back into the ocean. As for post-credit scenes, you missed out, because the entire ending credits is one giant post-credit scene. While Serj Tankian's singing his version of the classic Godzilla song, you see constant newspapers announcing whats going on: It tells you that Godzilla keeps circling anisland in the Pacific (reference to Skull Island) and that two new Mothra hatchlings had been found washing up on the Chinese coast. CHECK IT OUT!
Ever since I saw and heard that first roar between Godzilla and Gidorah...
I knew immediately that would be the sound to test all of my surround sound speakers with.
Ghidorah is THE classic nemesis for Godzilla in the franchise and among the few monsters to actually be stronger than him (two things he shares with one other monster that has appeared in every Godzilla continuity). Fans had been waiting for a modern film appearance by him, and man he lived up to the hype.
20:50 Ghidorah's Alpha Call is one of my absolute favorite images in the Monsterverse. The echoing of his roar, plus the cross... shivers everytime 🤩🤩
*I love that look Godzilla gives Rodan as the other Titans gather around him after delivering the killshot on the last Ghidorah head with his Atomic Breath. That look could only mean "Bow down or die". Also, if you don't recognize Dr. Ilene Chen and her twin sister Ling Chen....their actress, Ziyi Zhang played Hu Li in Rush Hour 2. I'm also ecstatic that they used samples of roars and music from the original Toho Studios Godzilla movies*
*Side note: The soldier who said "I think it's gotta do with his goddamn head growin' back." is played by the son of American actor/rapper Ice Cube, O'Shea Jackson Jr, who can also be seen portraying his father in the biopic "Straight Outta Compton"*
13:07 What’s funny is that the title for this music track is literally called “Old Rivals”
Out of every film in the MonsterVerse, King of the Monsters is my favorite. It feels like a retelling of one of the classics from the 60’s since four of the Big 5 are duking it out.
Godzilla is just awesome and really feels like a hero
Ghidorah is just perfect. Thanks to this movie, I was reminded why he is my all time favorite villain
I like how Mothra was portrayed; willing to face a threat head on even if she dies
Rodan had one of the best scenes in any monster movie. I like his rouge-ish personality. It felt surreal seeing him in KotM
It is a a film made for the fans by a fan of the series. Just wait until GvK, the world will expand.
g14 is the best movie in the MV, but KOTM will always be my favorite, this movie is a hug to the fans, the classic Godzilla theme with background choirs, the visuals. is incredible.
In this movie, we’re introduce to one of the best characters in the franchise.
Kevin The Left Head
Godzilla vs destoroyah is where they got the burning Godzilla idea👍
For me, this is the best Monsterverse movie. So EPIC!
19:21
Just a bit of trivia, the "Oxygen Destroyer" is a *major* plot element of the original Godzilla film from 1954.
(Edit: stupid typo, wrong date.)
It also many movies later led to the creation of one of Godzilla's most powerful and dangerous enemies.
54*
Still my favorite Godzilla movie, it was the first Godzilla movie I watched in theaters, I'll never forget that experience! Also the soundtrack is easily one of the best (Shin Godzilla's soundtrack is still my favorite)
One of the things I *love* about this movie (like most of Monsterverse) is the sound design. I can feel myself having a primal response to Godzilla and Ghidorah, without thinking:
(Godzilla roars) Uh yes sir, soon as I can sir, great appreciation for your patience.
(Ghidorah screams/cackles) UHHHHHHHHHHHH everyone run, NO everyone *RUN* this man is insane, run run go go go go
I still get chills from the Mothra waterfall scene and the beginning scene.
Please start reacting to Teen Wolf series!!! It’s amazing!!!
This one will always be my favorite out of the series. Especially with all the iconic music from Godzilla's entrance to Go Go Godzilla by the Blue Oyster cult and of course Mothra theme. I don't care what the critic's say this is one of the best ones Awesome reaction bro
This is the best of the Monsterverse so far. Godzilla vs Kong is a close second. This movie is overflowing with Easter eggs from Godzilla's 70+ year history! All the Monarch Titan bases are numbered with the year of Kaiju movies. Like Mothra's 61 base is the year the original Mothra movie in 1961. Ghidorah was a space monster often controlled by aliens in Godzilla movies. In one movie he was controlled by aliens that numbered things instead of names, hence his Monster Zero moniker here. Mothra had a telepathic link to her twin fairies that were only 6 inches tall. Here they just made them regular human twins. The older black Monarch guy at Mothra's waterfall was Dr Brooks from Kong Skull Island. If you watched the credits, you would learn that Emma's idea was largely correct. They show reports that the radiation they passively give off has a positive effect to the planet, like glaciers growing instead of melting. New plants that could be used to find cures, etc. If a Titan tries to leave his area to be destructive, Godzilla gives them an ass whooping!
Starting to question the validity of this man considering he thought divergent was ‘underrated’… But I’ll let it slide 😂. He’s a fun dude. Seems genuine
Xd he probably doesn’t know divergent is your average teen revolution cringe story.
Damn! Watching this with you makes me bummed I didn't see this in the theater!! It looks gorgeous!!
I rearly go to cinema in IMAX but when my family was planning to go on this movie I forced my dad to take IMAX tickets. And what a sight it was to watch monsters fight on a 25x16m screen. One of the best movies for cinema experience.
Also great OST, still have some tracks saved and like to listen to them, especially Mothra theme.
I can’t wait for your reaction to Godzilla vs Kong. You’re my favorite reactor on RUclips right now 👏🏻
finally have been waiting for it love this one a lot
It's always a great thing seeing people so excited for Godzilla content. This is going to be a banner year for that as well, with Minus One, Legacy of Monsters and Godzilla X Kong in the Spring of 2024. I'm personally looking forward to seeing the red spiral ray, coupled with the thermonuclear pulse, and the healing of the regenerator g1 (from Godzilla 2000) but I probably won't get much of that until (if) there is a Destoroyah in the Monsterverse. Glad you enjoyed the movie, and I loved the reaction.
If you want to learn about the other Godzillas
I recommend Filmcores
Evolution of Godzillas Atomic Breath
found your channel today with all these godzilla videos. good stuff
Mothra and Rodan in Japan are called Mosura and Radon, Godzilla is called Gojira, which means that if Toho's monsters enter the monsterverse like Gigan and Hedorah their names could change.
Funny enough, the director had stated that Godzilla would have killed Ghidorah in the water had they not dropped the oxygen destroyer. The humans made the situation A LOT worse
Godzillas theme song is peak🔥
I'm so glad you're enjoying the Monsterverse so far. Looking forward to seeing you react to Kong vs Godzilla. You'll be all caught up as far as the movies go.
Soldier: Mother of God.....
Lanaster Boi: Oh, she never had anything to do with this.
13:07 it’s amazing you said that, because the soundtrack for this battle is titled “old rivals” by composer bear mccreary. such a stellar score.
Its so funny how many people don’t notice mothra in the explosion and hear her battle cry when they first watch it. It really is cool how she appears there
It IS an awesome film. But it's just not a Mothra film without our two favorite twin peanuts, sing the praises of Mothra in Malaysian.
It cool how in this movie there are more call backs to the original Godzilla with the oxygen destroyer and Dr. Serizawa. Also Gidorahs is usually called King of the void.
Also at the very end of the credits there is a mini hint at the next movie.
“I’m stuck”
“Step-bro” 😂
13:22
Something I enjoyed with the fight at Boston was how we got to see how vulnerable Ghidorah's is to man-made weapons since it was recoiling and taking cover behind a wing. Unfortunate it heals very quickly.
Can't have been that vulnerable as the oxygen destroyer nearly killed Godzilla while it didn't seem to even make a dent in Ghidorah
Ultimate offering to Godzilla a titan Size beer for what a busy day hes had
" shoot 'er!! Shoot her!!!!" Okay hunter from jurassic park Cody lmao
Love this series.
also she isn't wrong only problem is she woke up something that should have stayed in the ice forever cause there is so much lore on the humans who worshiped the titans from long ago
Ah yes, waking up monsters to eradicate humanity because they are a “virus”, is a good thing.
hand's down, the best out of all the Monster-Verse movies- it's just really well done (the creature designs are worth the price of admission alone)...there is some stuff that doesn't make any sense (ie: how does radiation cause things to thrive, how does the elimination of the human race result in the saving of the human race?, etc...but, with all villains, they usually something do great evil in the name of something they perceive is a "greater good"...)...
Mothra first appeared in the 1961 film Mothra
Rodan first appeared in the 1956 film Rodan
King Ghidorah first appeared in the 1964 film Ghidorah the Three headed monster.
King Ghidorah is considered Godzilla's arch nemesis and has fought Godzilla in most of the films he's appeared in, almost every version of Godzilla has it's own version of King Ghidorah.
Showa Godzilla
Heisei Godzilla
Gmk Godzilla
Final Wars Godzilla
Legendary Godzilla
Godzilla Earth
Shin Godzilla
Ride Godzilla
“ I didn’t see Kong anywhere though “
Me: well Kong heard Ghidorah’s alpha call but he decided to ignore it and stop whatever creatures trying to escape the Skull Island due to the Alpha Call
NEXT IS GODZILLA VS KONG🎉🎉🎉
When something coming from behind don't run straight run to the side.
When there's some monsters when there's danger just run not stand and watch
Kong just chilling on he's Island
Funniest part about the final fight godzilla is pretty much riod raging in it
18:34 Every biker knows that feeling. When you drive through a swarm of fly's. 🤣
Godzilla went from 355 feet to 393 feet between 2014 and 2019.
The 1954 Godzilla movie and this movie has a lot of symbolism, not sure if you seen it i recommend watching it,it is in black and white, but i think you will enjoy it
So, I don't think her plan is actually a good idea but I do think it's better than Thanos. Thanos's plan was like... extremely arbitrary and showed a lack of understanding as to how population growth actually works in relation to available resources, and was at best a temporary solution to a problem that didn't exist the way the way he thought it did.
Her plan wasn't about eliminating humans, she even mentions going back to a time when they coexisted with titans. She was basically proposing giving humans a predator like introducing wolves into an ecosystem to cull the deer population. It doesn't eliminate all deer, and her plan - theoretically, Ghidora basically being an invasive species in and of itself wasn't known - was to essentially stopped unchecked and out of control human expansion.
Great review
Now you have to react to Godzilla minus one whenever it comes to digital
15:03 We need to come up with a name for this. "Thanos Syndrome" is my candidate! 😬
11:53 they think they in a military war like they actually believe tiny boo boo bullets would do something like all it would do is to tickle and annoy the creature.
12:23 Did you really say what I think you said? 😂
I really enjoyed this movie. Totally outside my usual tastes, but it hooked me!

THE FIRST ONE WASN'T KONG SKULL ISLAND, IT WAS GODZILLA 2014 (FROM LEGENDARY).
My favorite Godzilla movie in monstervers is this movie
38:45 you’ll find out why Kong wasn’t in this in the next movie.
This is my favorite Monsterverse film of all.
@@bienG6745 why does it matter to you? I just like it ok? If you don’t like it that’s fine don’t start judging because of my opinion so if you don’t like it then bye! And have a good one
I propose you should look at some Ealing Comedy movies. And, Bonus, they're out of copyright.
The blast that from godzilla is actually symbol of mothra wing
Anyone else here recognize godzilla's and king Ghidorah's roar from miles away
One thing I like the implication of is that humanity exists as an alpha titan but as some kind underfoot hivemind entity
The movie didnt do a great job of implying it, but Mothra and Godzilla have a history, and yet, when we see her here, she's a larva? What does that mean?
Rebirth. Morthra's beauty, at least part of it, is that she transcends death, as long as she lays an egg before dying, which according to the credits, she did. When mothra lays an egg, the larva keeps all of her memories and consciousness when the previous mothra dies. So, as is, she does not fear death. Its just part of her cycle
She is a Phoenix. She saves Godzilla, and sacrifices her life, willingly and fearlessly because she always is reborn....so long as she lays an egg before death.
You do need to watch Shin Godzilla! It’s from the original creators of Godzilla, TOHO. So as it tells you how Godzilla was made and how it got his name, blah blah blah, and it’s really horrifying! You need to watch it!
20:53 it's a cool different hydra but not the normal one like if one head gets cut of well two more grow back and it would breath fire that burns people not yellow electricity that disenagrate people.
Long Live the King 🔥🔥🔥🔥👑👑👑👑
the 3 headed dragon isn't part of the natural order it's a hydra from Greek mythology so it's not a kaiyju it's a titan

I seriously regret not watching when it came out
I think they showed Kong around the 38:20 mark, or when the monsters show up to bow down to Godzilla.
I edited stuff out but there really was only one shot of him when they showed the montage of monsters in the big meeting, and it was just a clip from Kong:Skull Island.
