Hey Eric, just purchased this scanner and having a little issue with the setup. Downloaded the Thinkdiag software to Iphone. Set the username and password. Software asked what type of software to download for a vehicle. I entered 2001, Ford Escape. Connected to car and clicked on auto VIN and it found the car with no problem. Then I click on Diagnose button and it comes up with $39.95 for download of software. I thought this was strange since it's supposed to be able to download all the manufacturers for free. I clicked on the purchase button anyway and comes back and says it's all ready bought. And that's where I'm at. And where is all this free manufacturer's software located at? Thanks Eric!

I’ve always had to borrow a friend’s scanner in the past. It would be great to have this whenever it was needed.

I remember that we used to have $3000 Snap On scanners at school. All of us drooled over them lol It was 10 years ago when I went to school, now we can afford something like this so easily. Amazing.

Thanks a bunch. After watching your videos I was able to purchase a Tech 2 clone and repair my 2005 CTS with an Ecm replacement. It took 3 tries to find a company that sold ones that were good. I could use this on all the diferent models. Keep up the great videos, I never miss one.
I brought this tool on your recommendation. It paid for itself on the first job. My 05 Tundra had an airbag code. Dealer wanted $180 just to diagnose. I needed to recalibrate the passenger seat airbag sensor. This tool did it in 10 minutes and after a year I've had no problems.
It is annoying to have so many unnecessary promts that require you to read and select "ok" .Also tech support English is a little spotty but they do try to help you and this tool is the best value so I learned to deal with it. No other tool comes close for features, price and range of vehicles it works with.
I'm moving up in my shop and doing more diags now, so this would be cool to win or buy if it can hang with the big boy scanners like that.
The bidirectional controls are key, glad to see this level of scanner finally getting to a reasonable price. Will be interesting to see how Autel and others respond.
Thanks for sharing all the information about the ThinkDiag. It looks to be easier to use than my older AutoEnginuity scan tools.
Think, Launch, Autel, Topdon are made by the same big manufacturer. So they all have different version of this tool and all of them are subscription based.

Man, this technology is so cool. I love the fact that companies are actually reaching out to the common man, with something that’s affordable.
Now, if John Deere would do that with their tractors and combines it would be a big help to farmers as well. But they want to keep their proprietary software so a technician has to be called. Meanwhile harvest has to hold up cuz the technician is busy elsewhere. Sorry for the rant!
I need one that does it all in 1. Not good having to carry 3 around to be able to do different functions
Actually it is better in case one fails,2 is all you need.
Also to cross reference with another to check calibration,just to mention 2 advantages but there's more....let you think harder on that 😁

What dose it cost to up grade at the end of the year?
Based on my experience, it varies. They frequently have promotional offers. $139-199 USD .
The "Pro" tool is free for 2 years and $199 for 2 year renewal.

AWESOME video! I retire about a year ago. I just came across the vid where you worked on the f250 ford, great diagnostic skill set. I was a mechanic during my first enlistment and during my second enlistment I trained as power pack/plant operator and technician (electrical diagnostic specialist) tracing/tracking pages of wiring harness schematics back in the 70s in the Army. I am starting to go back to working on cars. I am starting with my daughter's 2014 Chevy Cruze. I took it to Firestone's auto shop last week. The hook-up alone was 99.00 bucks. The purge solenoid was less than 40 bucks! I am always looking for automotive repair videos. So I had to subscribe.

I purchased a think tool pro about 10 months ago, I also hooked it up to the website so I can scan the newer Chryslers from 2018 on newer. This thing functions and does so much I am very happy with it.
It would be a blessing to have this tool. All I’ve had is a small cheap scan tool and would love to move into something with bidirectional controls. It would really help for sure. Thank you for bringing this info an giveaway to all of us!
Nice review of the tool. It’s my birthday today, but I think I used up all my luck the day before. I had a blowout on a front tire and totaled two of my cars at the same time. My tow rig and the Durango I had just bought to fix. I walked away with some cuts and bruises after going into the Jersey barrier at 50mph. Good luck to everyone.
Thank you for freely giving your tremendous knowledge it reminds me of father and son traditions my dad taught me to work on my own vehicles starting at the age of 14 spent many days repairing rebuilding old vehicles for we never had much money he passed when I was 17 and took a lot of knowledge but it didn't stop me from working on my own vehicles and have been doing this my whole life I sure do miss him I say this because sometimes it's a little things you'll miss the most when you grow up so keep on with traditions they're the lifeblood of America

Been using this for over a year. At one point there was a bargain deal for all of the brand software for a hundred bucks. Does everything, and if you have two different brand cars, you only need two brands' subscriptions per year. Great tool, and you can use it on an Android Tablet with cell service, as well.

I agree with your review. So far this Thinkdiag tool is by far the most capable phone based scan tool I have found. I have found some of the bidirectional controls are not perfect but again that's is the case across the board with oe level tools. Nothing is perfect. Great video.
Great to see a reputable bluetooth scanner. Have seen several commercials buy today 19.95 don't think I'd put much trust in a tv commercials with no proof. Thanks for bringing this to us.

I bought a 50.$ scanner of a local auto parts store. Okay for what i needed for. And you came along with all the tricks one might even need, when there needed. And repair shops are so expensive. Especially when they have to get the computer out for scan. With this cost goes down when you need a 20.$ part that take a 10mm socket and ratchet and 10 minutes of your own time.
That's perfect!!! I have 4 vehicles from different OEM's that I work on. Can't afford $1000++ scan tool. This is perfect for the DIY gear head.

This is pretty cool, I've been wanting something like this for a while now. Probably could just use it with a cheap tablet if you needed/wanted a bigger screen.

It i very nice that a company really thinks about the small guy to make a scan tool that really works and you can keep up to-date .I have two scan tools that after a few years you can't get updates but when you first buy the they tell you free updates for. But they don't support any more.
Using FORSCAN for bi-directional control absolutely makes diagnosis much easier on my & my family's Fords. I've been looking for a higher end (function-wise) scan tool in pawn shops and craigslist because I'm just a shade-tree mechanic and I could really use a scan tool with bi-directional control for the different makes of vehicles my friends and family own. In fact, contest or not, I'm going to buy one right now BECAUSE of your video! If I'm lucky enough to win your giveaway, I'll give mine to my brother who lives halfway across Texas from me. ThinkDiag rocks!! I installed the ThinkDiag software onto my Android Tablet and I have essentially a "poor man's" scan tool. For a DIYer, it is absolutely *the* one to have.

This technology is amazing.
So easy to cary around and does so much more compared to more expensive scanners, not all but most. I don't have a problem with subscription services as these types of devices must be maintained & updated with software updates etc. It cost more for a cable TV subscription monthly and with the Thinkcar its just yearly. Thanks for the video.

This appears to be pretty useful. Who couldn't use this. From small the size for if you have to go on site, to the capable software it looks impressive. This looks to be designed to be used by someone like me. I work on my own stuff as well as friends and family and referrals. I especially like the tough diag problems and this would seriously up my game. Absolutely count me in for the giveaway.
