    hey guys I am sharing my experience living with the damage from doing the 30 day hair detox / no oils no butter routine.
    I was partnered with a stylist, enrolled in their course and used the recommended products.
    If you have experienced damage please let me know if you had similarities, because that can be helpful.
    FOR others who have done the routine and expressed that they had success, I want to SAY, unless you have accessed , I would refrained from saying there is no damage. I can say once you have continued to do wash and go, as soon as you rinse that conditioner you slap those gels on that will give a false sense that there is no damage.
    There are many individuals who have experienced damage so this video is to help those with damage.

    Awesome video! Very informative!!! I decided to cut a ton of my hair off too. I actually needed to go shorter but I’m getting married and selfishly want to have a little hair left. Right now I have about 1/2-1 inch left of any remaining damage.
    You’re sooooo correct in saying this damage runs rampant throughout the hair. It will inevitably impact the healthy hair too if you wait too long.
    Unfortunately, I foresee many big chops this year. 😢

    Thank you for Sharing , very informative for people experiencing this damage from the curly cuts and the no raw oils no butter routine.
    Their idea of taking the stupid out of hair care has put splits all over people hair.
    I don’t think black girls curl knew what they were doing, Notice all the players left meaning the ones pushing this method and acting like nothing was happening. The one who attempted to say braids caused her splits hair isn’t doing well, she uses 5 gels and still can’t seem to get it together.
    Black girls curls is doing everything you ladies have implemented, they won’t admit it but they were WRONG.
    I am so excited to see your hair journey

      I have to agree with you. I saw the one who is using 5 gels now and believes braids damaged her hair in a wash and go recently and I was shock with 5 gels how it looked. Dry not very defined. Sorry these woman have to go through this. Excited to see Rosie big chop.

    I'm excited about your big chop! I just big chopped 2 months ago for the very same reasons as you. Started the no butters no oils trend in the spring of '22. Thought I was doing something to help my hair thrive. Little did I know, every ounce of growth from that period forward would later be cut off smh. Although I'm sad about having short hair, I am so glad that I no longer have to baby those damaged ends. I totally resonate with your decision. Wishing you the best!

    Big chopping is the best way to rid your hair of the current damage and protect the new growth. Rosie, I am here for your journey and I look forward to your videos. For me, I don't use bond builders. My hair does not need them. I keep it simple with products that contain oils and butters high in the ingredients list and sometimes silicones, shampooing every 14 days, alternating a protein and hydrating deep conditioner/masque, using leave in conditioners and creams as my primary stylers and staying away from gels of all types. Also, I typically do not pre-poo since I don't experience webbing at the roots, mid shafts or ends. I alternate between twists and wash and gos.

    My experience was i used the AG balance shampoo every week followed by a moisture shampoo not realizing AG was way to strong it completely dried my hair out i wasnt using heavy products so i take responsibility for not reading/ understanding the product and not completely reading the wash ua damn hair book i big chopped and was cool with a fresh start

      This was my experience as well. I didn’t realize how harsh AG is when used weekly but I do remember inside See some curls in a video the one that’s still over it mentioned using AG weekly and follow up with a moisture shampoo. So I thought I was doing something right but it was so wrong. Like you said we wasn’t using heavy products so AG was too much. I’m glad I found Rosie and Shelly’s videos in 2023 because I knew my hair was damaged but I just couldn’t figure out why 😔

    Yes this year I decided to chop my hair into a bob to get rid of the damage from BGC method for the 2nd time. This time around I decided to use bond builders, creams, oils, and deep condition weekly for 30 mins. I cut the bob to the nape of my neck in January and I have been able to retain length and it is now at the bottom of my neck after 3 months by going back to my old methods before BGC

      I love that for you 🙌🏾, our AFRo hair needs different things, and by omitting them can cause severe problems as we are seeing by following the BGC method and doing curly cuts.
      They have been changing things now deep conditioners are fine, silicones are etc.

    I haven't followed the NONB regimen, but I've had issues with midshaft splits. I'm not sure if its from twisting and manipulating, allowing my hair to air dry or what. It's frustrating.

    • @ChiannaNycole
      @ChiannaNycole 3 месяца назад +4

      Mid strand splits, from my understanding, are usually the result of chronic dehydration so I think you can rule out over manipulation. I’d first find out if my hair has build up and is therefore not getting adequate moisture into the strands or if i’m over stripping my hair and not re moisturizing properly. I believe you should take note of what shampoo strength you’re using, take a moment to feel how clean your hair feels after (monitor for stripped feeling, or build up) and adjust your shampoo regimen accordingly. Hope this helps❤.

      I’ve had the same problem years ago when I first became natural in 2010 lol. I was using deep conditioner every week with heat and did stretched styles exclusively. My hair grew long but I had the mid shaft splits too…I trimmed and stopped twisting wet hair and the problem subsided for a while. I did the NONB for a year and the splits came back. If I had to say what caused them it was washing and brushing my hair too harshly and too often, not using a leave in or heat protectant and baking on high heat once or twice a week under my hooded dryer.

    So I just kinda did a big chop too in March and since then I’ve been doing wash and goes especially because it was the easiest style for my now short hair. Should I just stop doing wash and gos now before it’s too late?

    • @simplyshadrika
      @simplyshadrika 3 месяца назад +1

      We have the same spelling of our names lol. Everyone calls me Drika 😊. I don’t think wash n gos are too bad. I think it’s when you don’t use a leave in, using harsh shampoos, too many drying gels, etc. My hair was so damaged after following this method. Now I just make sure to use bond builders, deep conditioner (protein & moisture), leave in heat protection, and get get cuts on blown out hair and I still wear wash n gos

    • @rosieamelia5955
      @rosieamelia5955  3 месяца назад

    • @lisamedla
      @lisamedla 5 дней назад

      It depends on your head of hair. For some it works, for others hair gets damaged by hydral fatigue. however, wash and gos are one of the more high risk styles when used back to back

    I am been with you through this hair damage!😢 But my thing is how are you going to keep your hair healthy and not getting this type of damage again! I think that natural hair is just so hard to keep healthy if you want to wear your hair in it naturally state. And why do you think it came from no using oils and butters. I think it’s from using a lot of gels!😢

    • @NamaGVida
      @NamaGVida 3 месяца назад +9

      My hair was hip length and mega thick before starting the no oils no butters course. And I wore my hair in wash n go’s. Maintaining your hair in its natural state is actually quite simple. This is what I did. Consistent wash routine (I did every 2 weeks), wash in sections of your hair gets tangled, be gentle with your hair, deep condition each time you shampoo, use the same line of products, don’t mix products, and set the wash n go with leave in conditioner that has some hold to it. Get trims every 3-4 months. Get rid of damaged hair. Don’t hold onto it. Protect your hair with silk at night. Assess your hair each month to see if you’re routine is working or if something needs to be tweaked.

      @@juanitarobertson306 You’re so welcome! And I must add, I don’t put anything on my scalp unless it’s shampoo or a scalp treatment to treat a specific condition. Some of your conditioners and leave ins will inevitably get on your scalp and that’s okay but I do not intentionally put anything on my scalp unless it’s shampoo. Our scalp produces an oil-like substance on its own and we don’t want to disrupt that.

    Can you share the name of the damaging shampoos? I suspect we might have been following the ladies who recommend not using oils, butters, and deep conditioning.

    • @rosieamelia5955
      @rosieamelia5955  3 месяца назад +2

      So I wouldn’t say damaging Shampoos , these shampoos are fine to use, just not how they were recommended weekly. Using them weekly along with not using any deep conditioner or leave in overtime damages the lipid layers causing dryness and severe split ends.
      Ag balance is one of the shampoo recommended and it’s amazing, but it’s comparable to probably a clarifying shampoo on my hair and using that every 7 days shouldn’t have been recommended. Innersense hydrating cream hair bath I found that stripping as well to my hair.
      You will start to realize your hair is damaged when your hair starts to web and Velcro together and after each cut the tangles still doesn’t disappear.
      But I wouldn’t classify these shampoos as bad just not appropriate for the routine we were practicing. The curly cuts didn’t help either because they only take care of the shape not the health.
      I wish you the best on your hair journey
