Another fix i did to my custom was to lube them without drilling, and it was actually an issue on the hinge brackets were not lined up from the usage. Just try to loosen the bolts on the car frame so that the bracket has free move, and close and open few times. Did the trick for me and the hinges aligned again.
I was able to fix this problem without drilling a hole. I sprayed penetrant oil on the hinges and opened and shut the door to work it in and it worked better than what I saw in the video. That was about 6 months ago and the problem has not returned.
Need to do this on mine. Any reason you can't take the little plastic covers off and drill into the pin that way? Will avoid the need to worry about sealing it after.
@@CreweTube mine just flick off quite easily, but difficult to see exactly what's under them. I'm assuming it's just the metal pin at the bottom. Not even sure what the plastic things are for. I'll give it a go anyway.
@@CreweTube try prying off a bit between the cap and the hinge with a Stanley knife, then pull out. Two of mine are actually missing and the little pins were snapped off inside the holes. I used a safety pin to drag them out enough at the sides, then pulled them the rest of the way with pliers. Now just to find some new ones. Not so readily available it seems 🤔
I'd just spray WD40 or inject lithium grease into the door hinge and just move the door back and forth keep greasing until the door feels lighter as you swing it. 😂
This works if you get it done quick enough, but once the internal pin starts rusting/swelling you can no longer get it worked in the gaps to get to it so need to go inside out.
This worked an absolute treat my man! Thank you. Didn’t need to wait for days either. Result after about 2 mins of open and shut.

Good idea, will try it when they stiffen up again

If you got it early enough then probably doesn't need the hole but once it starts internally rusting it's a slippery slope.
A great help.

They didn't seem to want to come off easily for me, but worth a try!

Yep. Mine's the same with the outer holes and caps. Are they not the lube points?
@@gerardkeane2459you'd think so wouldn't you, but no, they still need drilling to get to the pin.

next time, try using a heat gun, get the hinges too hot to touch, then "cool" them with penetrating oil.
Just done this and although not perfect, tis a damn sight better. Thanks for the vid 👍🏻
But how are poor mega corporations supposed to survive if they can't sell you parts that can easily be fixed?
