I agree with your perspective on this album. Especially about Empires. Last Friday when it came out I was hoping for a heavier album. Not to say some songs aren’t but the press leading up to the release gave the impression that it was going to be heavier. Songs are mood dependent for me so The Weatherman has grown on me. Autumn is a top tier song for me up there with Blue Jeans and Whire Tshirts and Here’s lookin at Ya Kid
I was really hesitant to listen to this album. For years they were my favourite band, album after album, and then Get Hurt was something that just didn't click. But from the first listen of History Books, I got this chill and feeling of the first 3 records and im so excited to listen to it over and over and have it grow
@@thepunkrockreview I wouldn't say beef, it just didn't do much for me. To me, it was their most uninteresting album and Ive never felt the thrill to put it on the same way I do with all their other albums
Spider Bites hits me hard. Michigan 1975 is incredible. I worried about this one. I was worried about Brian for a minute. It’s great to see them again.
Get hurt was ruined by the mix, the songs are solid. That being said. If you listen to their whole catalogue on shuffle. Most of the get hurt songs slot in quite nicely
I think the score is pretty on point here. I’m interested that you really liked “Spider Bites.” It seems to be the consensus that it’s one of the weaker tracks from the album, and I’m tending to agree. While I admire that it’s one of the best tracks that wasn’t on Get Hurt, the sound (the mix, maybe, I’m not technically proficient when it comes to music) comes off jumbled and unintentional. The lyrics are great, though, and the rest of the album makes up for it in spades, especially “History Books,” “Michigan, 1975,” and “Positive Charge.” For me, there’s only a single skip track, and it’s “Spider Bites.” All that out there: even if History Books had been awful, and the band’s worst record, yet, I’d just still be happy to have them back! Thank god it’s a f***ing great record, though! First video of yours I’ve watched, and I’ll definitely be subscribing. Would love some more in-depth thoughts on records, though. But you do you, and I’ll look forward to watching future content. Cheers!
Thanks for the comments, I appreciate it. Welcome to the family! 👊 What do you mean by wanting more in depth thoughts on records? I was pretty in depth with what I said in this review I thought...

What's the beef with Get Hurt?

Sink, Señor, 59, American , was just a fantastic run of music for my ears. Just played on repeat constantly.
100% agree

What were you worried about?
Brian seemed sad. I can’t explain it. Not that I know the man or anything, just in pictures and scattered interviews.
You can hear this record is almost a mirror image to get hurt. Like, both Albums are a rejoice, but very different ways.
Little fires is my favourite track and then probably autumn and empires, love spider bites too, oh what the hell I love the whole album ❤
Get Hurt is a perfect record
I need to revisit that one, I don't remember connecting with it the way I did earlier stuff
Handwritten and history books are my fav

I really like ‘’ I live in a room above her’’ what a track. There isn’t a bad track on here to be fair. Glad there back man.
I love that song! And yeah, glad they're back too! Really good album!
Room above her is my fav track. Amazing !
This album is aging very well
