I just love watching these episodes during my lunch breaks. My coworkers walk into the break room and always find me eating and watching JJ on my phone.
That’s actually very common in halfway houses. I stayed in one after rehab, 2 story and we had 12. 4 bunks in each room. It was a come-up from both the rehab and jail 💁🏼♂️
Why shouldn't she come up with a way to make an income ? Maybe you'd be happier if she ended up on the streets with all the other women ...what's wrong with you ?
Her profiting so much off of vulnerable people is predatory. 4000 dollars a month and you’re cramming 12 women into a place only worth 800? Living conditions must have been lovely…
It is a crazy margin but I’d assume that pays for things like food, utilities, hopefully counselors, maybe increased home insurance. I just can’t imagine a house that rents for $800 a month being able to hold 12 people! How big is this place??
I don't see an issue with her making profit lol, if they are willing to pay 400 a month that's their business. Clearly she was treating them good. After she leased the place she could do whatever she want and charge whatever she want. I wouldn't say she's conning anybody. She was smart to upcharge.
I feel like JJ presented that as all profit. Surely the defendant had other costs in addition to the rent? 12 people taking a shower everyday, and other utilities would be big costs.
@briel7904 morals. It's a free country and she cna do whatever she wants. But sometimes things go into a gray zone; I respect people who work hard to become skilled docs or mechanics. Not so much for landlords.
@haynejonston7095 and you're fully entitled to your opinion. However, skilled labour isn't the only one deserving of respect. Nor are docs and mechanics the only professions. Not everyone can own a home so landlords are an essential part of the fabric of society.
0:56 So she makes a rental profit of 4000??? Did he know what her plan was? I presume not since no one in their right mind would rent a house that is intended to fit 12 adults for only 800
No way I believe she makes $4,000 in profit because the power and electric bill for that many people are likely very high. I have paid $300 for my summer and winter power bills with just two people. All the showers and laundry would make the water bill high too. I’m guessing she also buys food and have a second person on staff.
And she was refusing to pay her rent to own due to disrepairs of the property. You have to still pay rent, no matter if it is a regular rental or rent to own. Rent to own means the person buying is responsible to pay for the repairs.
You weren't paying attention. That never happened. It was simply something they discussed. No agreement was reached or signed. As JJ very clearly says, "Well that didn't happen." So there was no rent-to-own. It was simply a standard lease agreement. Yes, you're right she should still have been paying rent, but the repairs in this instance are the responsibility of the landlord, the owner.
It depends, cuz the leasing to own never happened. But she can stop paying rent if the condition of her home is not livable. However she will have to put that in a work order. Like “this is my third time reaching out to you guys for the leak in my ceiling and in result of it not being fixed , I will be withholding rent until my problem is fixed”
Yeah, my friend did a rental own and basically the person told her that she is responsible for anything that gets damaged. If it’s like a furnace that goes out she’s responsible for it and it said in her contract that like I said if the furnace breaks she hast to pay for it and she can’t just sit there and not pay rent to the person That still owned the rent to own and it does say also in her contract that if she doesn’t pay her monthly bill to that person for the rent to own, they can kick her out and keep all the money she’s paid into trying to own it.
@@jordanshannon6001 I don’t know if you have to put it in the contract or if it’s just a known thing but my friend did a rent to own and in her contract it states that she is responsible for any repairs or anything that breaks so if the furnace goes out, she is responsible to pay for a new furnace or a used furnace whatever and she cannot just sit there and not pay the owner because if she doesn’t, it also states in the contract that if she doesn’t obviously pay rent, even if something is broken that person can kick her out and keep all her money that she’s put towards owning it

Why is everyone mad at the defendant for being business savvy and making a profit? Isn't that the precise reason why one undertakes any business venture?
Because she illegally used a residential area as a commercial for-profit business, likely under the guise of being a charity. A normal family causes some wear and tear to a home, requiring semi-regular maintenance, but imagine the damages done by 12 women all crammed in there, some of which likely have drug or mental health issues. @LisaSoulLevelHealing It's not that serious until it's YOUR property and it's you not getting paid.
JJ has had plenty of both sides being scammers.... shame.
Defendant liked all the vulnerable women living under her..
.
12 people r 2 many in one house
Damages ? Of the house ? 12 people are lots of wear and tear compared to 1 he should charge more
All this talk about her being a con artist is garbage. She runs half way houses....THATS THE WAY IT WORKS. If you dont know about that industry/ business you dont have to comment. Furthermore be grateful that uou dont have to worry about recovery and the like. Dont call her names based on your privileged life.
Twelve people in a single family home? I’ll keep my other comment to my self.
Wow. Is it just me? kept looking around for a lady.
Mais La.🤷🏽♀️

He’s mad because he didn’t make as much money as she did

The plaintiff has a bad attitude yeah, but y’all acting as if a judge or anyone is being rude to you, you wouldn’t catch an attitude or start reacting a certain way!!! Judge Judy can me disrespectful at times and we know this
She knew how to play the system she is disgusting
Are you saying that because she’s black???
Uh, its 17 days of rent she fidnt pay lol. Relax klan memeber with your stereotypes lol.
@@TheDondon14 What makes you think her skin color is relevant to whether or not she's a scammer? Judge Judy has thieves of all colors and creeds on her show. Take a chill pill, sugar.
@feverspell right here they go tryna pull the race card. They believe all that aren't white are innocent. But if we're white we're the bad guys. It's crazy what the world has become 🤣
You haven’t even seen part 2 and already making judgment on the defendant maybe get all your facts before judging people but that’s what you no lip people love to do when it’s black people and yes I’m using the race card I don’t care 🤷🏾♀️
The defendant lying and you can tell by her body language
She? I don't think we should assume anything .. lol
Part 2👀

A rent to own for 7 years??
These two guys ain't right.
She’s exploiting the women who live in the house. That disgusts me.
Where was the lie? So far the Defendant is providing solid answers to all questions asked with dates and amounts.
-part 1- 🙃
The property wasn't zoned for commercial use. That was the lie.
