Love the unmasked as much as masked. The unmasked gives a bold look.

Cori - did you see that the Vinyl Ease description says it’s not for use with any laser cutters or engravers? Do you have another transfer tape you can recommend?

Can you use the 3M adhesive with 1/4 inch thick wood? To adhere pieces? Thanks!

I have a Vision 20W diode and am testing to reduce the soot/charring. I have a power/speed setting that produces decent result for the fill engrave but does leave a little charring.
I tried it with blue painters masking tape at the same settings and it barely even burned the wood. Have you found you need a higher power or slower speed when suing a masking tape to get a good burn into the wood?

I would try it with another type of masking. Diode lasers struggle to cut the color blue (the laser itself is blue) and blue painter's tape might be the problem! If you need to, you can definitely slow down the speed a bit as well, but my guess is that it's the blue :)

Hello and thank you for your video! I went to your link and I'm a little confused with the brand of masking. Is it the transfer tape? The Vinyl Ease brand? I really need to get some masking! Any help is appreciated. Thanks

VinylEase should work! I'm using TapeManBlue, but I think they are essentially the same thing. Good luck!

Can you use the Xtool S1 to cut clear acrylic if you mask it? I am debating as to which one to purchase. I'd prefer the S1 vs the P2 due to size but I want to be able to cut clear acrylic in order to make those shakable Christmas ornaments.

Unfortunately no. You can engrave it but as far as I know, there's no way to cut clear acrylic with a diode laser yet (maybe there will be in the future, but that remains to be seen!).

Hello! I bought some acrylic from Michael's craft store to try cutting some for the first time on my Glowforge Pro. The acrylic came with plastic layer already on both sides. Is that considered pre-masked or would you take that off and put on a separate masking?

That's a type of masking. You can usually leave it on unless you find that it melts or flames up.

The transfer tape in your "store" says specifically not for lasers.

I use these weeding pens from Amazon and I love them. The tip is so tiny, it makes it more difficult to scratch your piece :)
