you might be my saving grace. I just bought my first laser engraver and setting it up took me 3 minutes,. Learning the software is horrific and I was about to just say the hell with it and then I found your videos. I will let you know over the next 48 hours what I am going to do (keep it or return it) ..Hopefully your videos will entice me to keep it
I'm really glad I found this video right after downloading Lightburn. You have great teaching skills! Thanks for helping new users stay laser-focused on their projects and not fighting the tools!
I just ordered a TTS10 Pro and have never used lightburn before. You did a great job with this video. I have several 3d printers and look forward to adding a laser to my set of tools. Thanks.
Nice very useful presentation for a new laser guy jumping from creative space to LIGHTBURN. Your intro describes how Lightburn has been so far for me. It is like going from a VW bug to a 747 . I also have a D1 Pro and plan to watch many of your videos and use your kind offers to share your test grids. So far i have mostly produced 100cm tile coasters (about 1000) and small art projects like signs etc. Lightburn and your tutorials will hopefully expand my horizons. I am 77 but watching you reminded me of me several decades ago. Never stop learning and sharing!!!!
Hi I'm about to download the trial version of Lightburn. I've been using GRBL for about 7 months and even though I like it, because I'm used to it, there are certainly a lot of limitations. I thought I'd watch some tutorials before I started and yours was Great! I feel confident enough to get started and work the basics before exploring the more complex aspects of the program. Thank you.
Asher, Thank you! You're my first Lightburn teacher, I clicked on! I think is fitting that you were the first subscribe to learning after weeks, going back in forth so much it was nuts, on all the brands. There's 20 great reviews then there's always a few negative reviews that made the search even longer. I'm just stepping into the Laser Engraving and Cutting world. I love high-end things but.... There's so much involved! I didn't want to put myself in the beginner machine, because I always end up throwing rocks at what I bought for the better one/ones shortly thereafter. I love technical things, and I always seem to always gravitate towards, harder and more challenging work, endeavors and hobbies. I typically consider myself a fast learner on most things, but honestly, I did a bunch of pausing, taking notes, and starting over. By the end of your, video, I had a Big grin! I'm going to Love this! Heart Burn on Lightburn no more mister! Looking forward to more! Thank you, Vincent
Great Video! I normally pass on longer videos due to unless time spent by the creator doing things not essential to the project. With that said.. WOW you packed a ton on great information in and at outstanding pace! By far the BEST info to pace I've come across. I will be working my way through your entire library as time allows!
I have just ordered an Atomstack A20 pro laser. It would have taken hours for me to figure some of this out on my own. Thanks for the great straight foreword instructions.
I have been using Lightburn off and on for 3 years now. I learned a lot from your video. Since the Creality Falcon 2 40watt laser is new, there is no configuration file for Lightburn. I need to crank my laser up to 2% to see the laser beam. Thank you showing the work around for the framing with the laser on. I purchase 12 inch square 3mm birch plywood and have a half an inch to spare on each side! This will prevent a scorched bed in the future! 😀
My husband just gifted me an xtool d1 pro 20w and I wanted to say your video was the most helpful video I have found so far. Thank you for taking your time to make these, I also went ahead and purchased the fish tank air pumped based on your recommendations and used your amazon links. Thank you again :)
Great video. I'm new to laser engravers and have the same laser as you. I've checked out some of the Lightburn tutorials, but found yours most helpful. I plan to download the software later today and try your files. Thanks again.
Thanks for the great information. I am slowly learning Light Burn. and at times is confusing. You have a explained a lot on how to set up and maneuver on the screen thanks again.
Thank you for the video. This is the very first laser video i have watched. I am just contemplating buying a laser so doing my homework to see just how hard it will be to learn the program. A couple things that i noticed (keep in mind, complete newbie here) your instructions were clear but seemed rushed to me. Would help if u slowed down a little bit. Also when showing work on your monitor it would be VERY helpful if u increased the size of your pointer. 😊 Thank you so much!
Brilliant job, I found your style of teaching without the waffle so easy to follow, I managed to get both projects done with zero problems, Cant wait to see more, Thank you :).
Im glad i did this search for beginners Asher. My computer savvy levels dont get much higher then turning the thing on, so i'm stickin with your tutorials as much as possible...
If you're just getting started, then you may also want to check out my "laser engraving for beginners" video, which I just published about a week ago. It covers even more steps that you may find helpful. Good luck!
Asher, could use some input, i'm a creature of repetition so i have been going from tutorial to laser over and over trying to learn as much as i can but i have hit a snag that has cost me hours of time. I have a project that i test burnt once on pine that came out framed in ok but for some reason when i set up to burn it on my final piece, the framing and image is larger then the setting in light burn. I'm in inches and it looks to be around 2 inches larger when i frame. The piece i am trying to put it on is 10" round diameter. I have read that there maybe something in my background that i cant see that is causing this, my image is set at 9x9 but runs off 10" work piece. A bit at wits end
Thank you VERY VERY VERY MUCH AND KINDLY FOR creating this video. Recently purchased Creality Falcon2 22W and downloaded LightBurn today. Took FUR-ever to find tutorial videos with the updated version. I'm lucky to have found you. Will have to practice until puuuurrrect. Hugs!!!!
THANK YOU!! I have spent two weeks with my new Falcon 2 10W and this thing was about to go on FB market! I wanted to buy something easier, but everything seems to go back to Lightburn except for the Xtool software. Consistency is everything so hopefully I can get that. Your work is appreciated. Subscribed.
Great Job! Only thing I would have done differently is on the balloon I would engrave first then cut, but it was probably big enough that you didn't have to worry about movement.
So my sculpfun arrived last night. I looked at the box and just felt overwhelmed. Today’s a new day! Let see if I can do this. I might have to replay your video 205 times lol.
Thank you for a very thorough presentation. May I suggest from experience I always put my cut layer at last. This prevents the work from moving down and then causing the engraving to be slightly out of focus.
Great vid! I'm hopeless with computers as it is, so trying to get my head around this software was really hard. This tutorial has helped a lot. Hopefully now I can get to grips with it and when my 30 day free trial expires I'll be able to purchase the license with confidence.
Great stuff. I am newbie laser owner and will be using it for wood and resin projects, your tutorial was clear and easy to follow as I had no idea on how to use Llightburn, thanks
I have a suggestion! Enlarge the cursor so the viewer can watch and see it and follow it to the buttons! So we (I) can follow it! No one does this! Even on a big screen tv with the bright white background the cursor gets lost.

Hi mate just a big thanks for this video, i have just purchased a lazer and lightburn software it is a minefield to use if never used before !, specially at my age "Old" this gives great a great insite and tips for use, better than throwing laptop out of window in anger Ha Ha
As an extreme newbie I would ask when you state something like “I’m going to select both objects…” that you describe exactly how you selected both. When I select one, then go and select the second one, the first one de-selects. I’m assuming you must be doing something so basic you would assume we know (but don’t). Thanks. I appreciate your work!
Great video! I agree that you explained steps that are not really talked about and put it all in one video. I just got an Atezer P20 and I am brand new to the laser world. The Atezer P20 laser has a kick stand also and it was very helpful that you zoomed in and showed the focusing step almost in real time. I am working on framing right now in lightburn and will be watching this video to help out with this step. I have just subscribed and look forward to watching your channel! Thank you!😀
Thank you so much! This has helped tremendously. I do have a question. When you're in the Move panel, I noticed your distance is set to inches while the others are stil in mm. How do I achieve this?
Awesome tutorial! I'm new to the laser world. I am thankful for this tutorial. I was definitely at my wis end trying to align the laser with my test piece. going to try and I will let you know how it goes.
Hey Sonya - yeah, totally understand. Alignment was a big hurdle for me at the beginning, but now that I’ve gotten used to it, it usually only takes me a couple minutes each time. So there’s hope, you can do it!
I recently received Lightburn as a Bday gift and your video was extremely helpful!! Now to figure out why my D1 pro 10 w keeps canceling task. Any advice?
Not sure if you're still checking comments on this video, but I have a question. I've set up 3 layers on my work: 2 fill and 1 line. However, when I go to Preview, I'm only seeing 1 of the fill layers. The other one is nowhere to be found, regardless of whether I have selected to show the layer or not. I'm pulling in a .png file and created the two layers by adjusting the settings in the Trace Image function, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Would appreciate any insight you could offer. Great tutorial...would be a great series if you were interested in doing a follow up!
what a great video! thx! do you also have a list with lasersettings on different materials for a 20W laser. I know that all lasers are different but it could be a great start.
Love the video so far, as a new user with a borrowed laser I have a question. I got all the way through to the test print stage but my outcome is a mirror image of the text. Any chance you can help me out? Thanks in advance

For that part, you hold Command on Mac while you select the 2nd shape. If you’re using a PC, I believe the CTRL button does the same thing.
Excellent video! Helped me a lot :) thank you
Great video! Thank you!😀
Awesome - thanks so much! Glad you've found this useful!
Great tutorial! Thanks.
Very helpful. Easy to understand the way you explained.
Thanks!@@asherdiy I just tried to click on the map then the green dot, but my laser didn't move at all. What may be the problem?
Excellent tutorial. Much to learn. Thank you :)
I recently received Lightburn as a Bday gift and your video was extremely helpful!! Now to figure out why my D1 pro 10 w keeps canceling task. Any advice?
Awesome video I am new to lasers and this really helped. I have an LX1 Will definitely be watching more
Not sure if you're still checking comments on this video, but I have a question.
Really like the way you teach. easy to understand
Thank you for this! I was SO lost.
Really help for a beginner like me..thank you
This video is gold👌Thank you!
I use one of the two tool settings for the frame. (T1, T2 at end of the layer selections.)Then it never has output but does frame the job.
what a great video! thx! do you also have a list with lasersettings on different materials for a 20W laser. I know that all lasers are different but it could be a great start.
Love the video so far, as a new user with a borrowed laser I have a question. I got all the way through to the test print stage but my outcome is a mirror image of the text. Any chance you can help me out? Thanks in advance
Amazing tutorial , thanks for this !
Very useful video and great delivery!
Really helpful. Thanks so much!
Very thorough explanation, thank you!
