I made one yesterday.. I always thought stropping was over kill and not needed but man!! My knives are shaving hairs off my arm so easily😮… can’t believe how much better they’re after stropping😮 crazy sharp 😂
Good video. I have a couple questions because everyone seems to have different opinions when it comes to stropping. I noticed you went with white instead of green, is that just preference? One of the issues I keep having with compound (I use green) is that it actually builds up on the knife like wax and I have to clean it off. Maybe it’s just a bad brand? Do you sharpen on the compound side and then do the same to the leather without compound afterwards?
Great question. Normally the green is used for Aluminum. The yellow is primarily used on stainless steel. Why I use the white, it is ment for hard blades like the R60 blades like to use. So it helps get the blade good and sharp. Also helps in taking out scratches that can form on a blade.
I have made a few. I bought one on line and it doesn’t work as well as mine. Not sure of the material. Need to make a new one , gave one to my granddaughter.
What is that white chalk sort of thing you used on the leather?
Thanks!
Thank you for that! Very kind!

Hey Van. Any thoughts on using the smooth side vs the suede side?
Van, do have a preferred brand of polishing compound?
