  • We have two new little orphan monkeys arrive, Wanda and Bluebell, who will join Nugget and, finally, Rowan on their journey to find their foster monkey mom in a new home.
    The Vervet Forest is a wildlife documentary focused on the lives of the monkeys at the Vervet Monkey Foundation in South Africa . We join the orphaned and injured vervet monkeys in their adventure and struggles as they battle their way through the foster monkey mom program to become part of a monkey troop again. This channel is for those monkey lovers who enjoy monkeys living their lives as monkeys should.

    For years I wanted a baby monkey. They’re just so precious cute and energetic but after I did my homework and understood how incredibly wrong it is, I get my cute quotient by watching these videos. I am so taken by the foster moms who come to the center to see and bond with the new little babies. Life is wonderful and God bless these folks running this program.

    It maybe just the edit, but Wanda looks like the most sure-footed and confident baby Vervet you've had. She seemed to be very skilled and fast at climbing, balancing and jumping from branches to floor and back. Quite the little acrobat!
    Lovely video as always. Looking forward to the next 2 parts! Thankyou.

    I know drinking from a wire held bottle is necessary due to foster moms not lactating and the babies need to find the feeders where the bottles are and I think by that time they eat food. Just wanted to add this to my comment above.

    Whenever I watch the infants taking a bottle through the feeding cage, I think of Harry Harlow's nurturing-deprived monkeys. These monkeys will get surrogate mothers in time, but they do not have one at first. How do these infants receive nuturing?

    • @VervetMonkey

      from volunteers

    • @sisterpamop

      @@VervetMonkey I wasn't saying that as criticism. It was an observation and an honest reaction.

    • @luckycavy1397

      I don't think they took your question badly, but that is seriously the answer. The Vervet Monkey Foundation has teams of volunteers who provide comfort and round the clock care for these little ones.

    • @serratedanderson7148
      @serratedanderson7148 6 месяцев назад +1

      I have thought of the same thing. The answer I gave myself was that they don't want to relate the bottles and feeding cages with comfort. Because they can't get attached to something inanimate. Doing things this way makes the babies go to the baby carers and later to the monkey mommy for comfort, love, and guidance. If they made the feeding cage a place of comfort it would damage their psychology even more and cause them to be extremely antisocial.

    • @luckycavy1397
      @luckycavy1397 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@serratedanderson7148I'm pretty sure you've hit the nail on the head there. The focus really is getting these little guys to bond with their adoptive mums and live as naturally as possible
