It makes so much sense for a real fight and even for tournaments because in the academy we have to improve in the guard game but for reality I want to go back to my feel or stay on top.
I learned this a while ago. I this technique works extremely well and there are a couple variations you can use. I highly recommend using this! Another key point that jiu jitsu has lost is getting up and not being content with just playing to the guard. This point is specific to self defense/mma.
@ChenChi This is rare instance when both of opponents are correct :) I'm talking about what is written on his t-shirt, 'cause I thought it's really clever how he adopted "Bathory" "font" to Barnett. And you are clearly talking about picture of the cover itself - which is obviously from Bathory's album cover.
Wrestling Seatbelt wins Jiu-jitsu Seatbelt. Just get that farside waist, use your back leg to push towards opponent and build up back to your feet. Give it a try. And the best part is, it works even if the opponent tries to Choke you with his Overhook arm while you're having the (wrestling) Seatbelt. Coz your body turns towards him, automatically unwinding the Choke itself. Works like magic.
Last training in this position the guy squeezed me with the hands so much I couldn't move at all, he lifted me and took my back easy... making this lateral position and movement was absolutely impossible....
@@insidethevelvetglove3919 of course he can, Bernardo’s outside leg collects Josh’s arm up no problem. I do this anytime anyone tries to build a base out of turtle. I’ll even try and pry their arm away from their body with my outside leg to get it - but if you build a base like this, perfect - I’m taking it
@@justinchoy1980 well actually josh doesn't grab any leg he rotates and then does a sort of over hook, there is no under crucifix there, I did initially think he grabbed the leg from behind and there would still be no crucifix.
@@insidethevelvetglove3919 it’s not about Josh grabbing the leg putting himself in a crucifix - it’s about his arm being readily available for Bernardo to take the crucifix. Just my point of view, I appreciate yours may be different. Have a great day!
One point he emphasized was that he will always be active, this position would be done very quickly, he wants to get back to the fight on his feet. Hardly in a fight would the opponent have time to pick up the crucifix and even then it would be something relatively simple to defend
So simple and effective, love Barnett's instructionals.
Love to see wrestling escapes applied to BJJ! Appreciate the content!
i cant believe how big Josh is compared to Bernardo and Bernardo won absolute and 100kg worlds
I just had the same thought
Indeed! Bernardo is a big guy, so that gives us some scale for Mr. Barnett. Big fella!
I thought the same hahaha.
André Galvão
Absolute unit

Josh is a massive human… 🤣
All grappling arts are inter-connected

Josh was Ufc chzmp beat Nogueira Lister he s a wonderfull wrestler grappler...
making benardo look so tiny
Josh is Hu-u-gh!
I really like the old catch wrestling goys and love they have integrated into BJJ but it makes me sad the legacy of catch wrestling fading away
Josh is the about as big as a Bernardo sized Iron Man suit.
No, this is exactly what BJJ was made for. Anti wrestling, You are getting finished in turtle period.
Better instructional out there. Save your money.
But what about if Bernardo attacks Josh’s arm for the crucifix?
he cant, you have to grab the other leg for that
