I like the technique, your casts came out great! I do suspect this product is essentially a rebranded gypsum cement like Hydrocal or Ultracal-- effectively a high-quality plaster. And if it's not the same, it behaves pretty much the same, and you'd get similar castings from either. Ultracal can be bought in bulk bags, so if you have a local seller which carries it (like a ceramic, sculpture or movie effects supplier) you can probably get it cheaper in bulk. Around here I might get it from Burman or Reynolds Materials. Nice videos, cheers!
I have not personally used those, but I have heard of them. Good to know there are alternatives with similar properties. I'll have to be on the lookout for those when I run low. ;)
Wow. Very thorough video, thanks for sharing! I haven’t tried resin because of all the issues (needing a respirator, etc.), but I would be tempted to try this!
Thanks for watching and commenting. While I love working with epoxy resin, it does tend to be messy for cleanup and require PPE. This, and products like it, are easier to cleanup and don't require protection. Cleanup is as easy as a paper towel and water. Can't do that with resin. You can use the same molds as you would with resin. Just keep in mind the super short work time.
Near the beginning, you called it resincrete. Is it the same type of material as resincrete? These babies are frickin adorable and I'd love to have the mold! Can I ask where you got it? Thanks!
I believe it is the same as resincrete, or at least behaves similarly. It wouldn't surprise me if Brea Reese called it ceramic resin to make it sound neater. The molds were purchased off Amazon. Look for nine tail foxes and they should come up.
i used the ceramic resin one of my moulds broke but then my mushroom mould worked out fine so now i have a lil ceramic mushoom i tested it like 1 few months ago but was intersting
Came across your channel by accident they are adorable great video but have to say that music is very distracting can hardly hear you over the music am just saying but really liked the tutorial👍
Thanks for watching. I have been artistic most of my life, but making video content is a newer developing skill set, this includes trying to navigate sound engineering. I am curious, as the volumes of the sound channels are set at 100% for the narration and only around 10% for the background music, and when I review it on my PC or mobile platforms the balance is fine without the music overpowering or being close to equal. However, I do know for some reason that some devices will affect how it comes across. Would you mind sharing what type of device you were using so I can sort out if this is device-specific? Thank you for the feedback, it is appreciated.
@@foxysartboxHave to agree with OP, I would be perfectly fine simply hearing you, not music that may not be everyone’s taste. I’m on iPhone. The foxes are really cute ❤
Hello. I cannot find the molds on Amazon. The only molds they have are single molds that are all one piece. Are you sure they came from Amazon? Thank you
When I first started I mixed mine by the measurements on the bucket, which seemed to differ a bit by the batch sizing in consistency. Then I got the measuring kit. It does seem this a fairly foolproof substance as it tolerated variance, unlike regular epoxy resin.
May I ask where u got these adorable fox molds? Since u commission your pieces, I understand if u don’t want to share. Very cute!!! ❤️❤️❤️🦊🦊🦊 I have a kitsune tattoo on my arm.
Excellent question. Because you asked, I pulled out a miscast piece (one of the fox bodies) and dropped it onto my basement tiled concrete floor from table height. It struck the floor and rattled a couple times, this means it struck with some good force! The only damage it sustained was a chip to the ear, which was thin. So it is surprisingly durable. I wouldn't throw it, but it seems stronger than gypsum castings which would have broken from that drop force.
I did in fact test this. I was seeing if I could reactivate, or put some cured bits back into solution. There was no effect. It remained water and bits. I don't think I would expose this to the elements outside as I think time would effect it, but the occasional exposure to moisture seems to not effect it much.
I ordered them from Amazon. Look up Ninetailed Fox molds. They'll be there and you'll know them as they will be four figures with each taking two molds.

Those are absolutely adorable!! Lots of good information… This is my first time watching your videos, my only critique, the music is really distracting when you’re talking, and it’s almost as loud as your voice…
Glad you found it informative. Interesting regarding the background music--I have the my narration set at 100% and the music at like 10%, so that curious. When I do the playback after processing it's not that loud. If I may ask, how are you listening to it: PC/laptop computer, mobile, TV stream? It might help me figure out if it's something more mode specific.

I'm sorry to hear that. :( But I do suspect it works similar enough to any number of mixes like EcoPour, Resincrete, Magic Pour etc. I haven't used those, but having seen videos the process and results look close. Maybe look for things like that available where you are?

It's amazingly fun to use. Doesn't work for every casting, but some are even better than typical epoxy resin.

There is no doubt it isn't the right product for every mold out there, but when it is suitable it does turn out neat.

They certainly did come from Amazon: www.amazon.com/Fogun-Silicone-Mold-Resin-Non-Stick/dp/B0CLS2WY1W?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1
I like the one with the Resin better 😃👍
The ones with the resin tails?

I ordered them off Amazon. Search for nine tail fox molds and look for the listing with four different poses, each one is a two part mold. :)

Lol I came to the comments section to see if they were supposed to look like nine-tailed foxes 😄
Haha, yup. They are definitely nine tail foxes. :)
Would this product work in traditional ceramic molds (plaster) or would it stick & not come out?
I have not worked with traditional ceramics. But if the molds are made from silicon, then yes it should work just fine.
I love these xxx
Thank you. I had way too much fun casting many set of these. :D
Hi I have a question wanted to know if you drop it after it's fully cured do they break easy🤔
Excellent question. Because you asked, I pulled out a miscast piece (one of the fox bodies) and dropped it onto my basement tiled concrete floor from table height. Is this medium waterproof when cured?
I did in fact test this. I was seeing if I could reactivate, or put some cured bits back into solution. There was no effect. It remained water and bits. I don't think I would expose this to the elements outside as I think time would effect it, but the occasional exposure to moisture seems to not effect it much.
How is this mix any different from Resincrete or Jesmonite?
It's likely very similar. I haven't used those particular formulas so I can't be certain, but I suspect this was Brea Reese's version of it.
What spray lacquer you are using?
Rustoleum's Clear Lacquer.
Where did you get your molds. These are pretty. ❤
I ordered them from Amazon. Look up Ninetailed Fox molds. They'll be there and you'll know them as they will be four figures with each taking two molds.

Can this be painted with acrylic easily? Like it doesn’t have to be primed like regular resin would?

Not sure how this molding compound is in any way like resin... It is not clear which is the main attraction of resin.
Quite a few resin crafters like to explore casting alternatives.
